And how about the PSU players, who through no fault of their own, have now had their college careers turned to ash? It seems to me they are the bearing the brunt of the penalty since their time on campus is limited to the here and now--which is a lot more valuable than any rewriting of the record books or having the school pay a hefty fine. It's like sending everyone in town to jail because the mayor and chief of police commited a crime. The sins of omission by Joe Pa and the administration were unforgivable, but the torch and pitchfork croud's need to find someone to punish--whether they had any culpability, or in this case, even if they didn't--seems out of line, IMO.

FWIW, teams with players over the age of 30
Lurker replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, they need more young LBs (Barnett, Morrison and Scott are getting long in the tooth) and D-line depth (Kelsay, Edwards, Johnson). The secondary seems to be in better shape depthwise (McGee, Wilson). The Pats have 5 starters on offense over 30 (Waters, Brady, Koppen, Welker and Lloyd) so their window looks like it'll be getting smaller and smaller... -

Two of the 10 are the kickers, so not as big a deal as some other positions. Just four starters (three on defense--Barnett, McGee and Wilson and one on offense--Jackson) Moorman 36 Lindell 35 McIntire 33 Kelsay 32 Barnett 31 Scott 31 McGee 31 Wilson 31 Edwards 31 Jackson 31 Only 3 guys are 30 (Pears, Morrison, Spencer Johnson). Other than Barnett, there seems to be quality backups in the wings should the older guys hit a wall. -

Fits this thread to a tee, however...

How about if AP didn't know the guy was an off-duty cop working an extra job at the club? Seems to me there's a double standard when a guy not working in his official capacity as a cop gets to file charges for resisting arrest...and a regular old Joe Shmoe bouncer can't.

Is there a bounty on Stevie Johnson for week #2 ?

Again, by who? A 47 catch sophomore season doesn't make anyone a top ten pick, except in Madden. -
What were the Best Seats at a Event Personally
Lurker replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Springsteen at the Aud in 1984, second row center, behind the stage. Stood in line for hours to get tix, had them sell out literally five guys ahead of me. After a few minutes of major croud grumbling, a guy comes out and says "we've just opened up seating behind the stage...anybody want them?" Teriffic sightline, stage high with a view like what the band was seeing of the croud out front. Bruce knew we were back there too, and came back and played a number of times facing us. Killer show, killer seats, nothing else as good (concert or otherwise) ever again... -

At what point was that?? Gronk himself said he was "hoping first round, but was expecting second round." -
Tim Graham on the Bills at Boston.com
Lurker replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tim should have included fan expectations as 5A in his "biggest question" list. If they-re 5-3 at mid-season, a sizeable percentage of the fanbase will be calling for Chan's head... -
Too easy...

Yeah, he ran the no huddle well but was never known for his quick release...

And Easley went from 48 yds to 893 yds/8 TDs playing in a balanced offense as opposed to the pass-happy Kentucky scheme. Yes, it wasn't the SEC, but it wasn't cream puffs either (Baylor, North Carolina, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Pitt). Most teams weren't particularly impressed with Stevie's "4th in the NATION" stats and "BREAKOUT" senior year given his draft position. Easley's career may or may not amount to anything. But it's too soon to label him a bust given the limited amount of reps he's been able to put up over the past two years.
-
Stevie could also be considered a one-year wonder with slightly better stats. In his "breakout" senior year, he had only 12 more catches and 147 more yards than Easley in his senior season, playing on a Kentucky team that threw the ball about 40% more often (40.6 attempts per game vs. 28.8)...

Sounds like a DirectTV ad...

So who do these college career stats belong to: Seasons____2 Catches____72 Yards___ 1200 Avg______16.7 TDs_______ 14 Pretty good career so far...

June Movies: Prometheus, Brave, Madagascar 3, and.....
Lurker replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I thought he concept was terrific as well. It was just the questionable plot (i.e., horror) elements that muddled it for me. A much better script could have made this thing the 2001 (or even Alien) of its generation. Oh, and if the Xenomorphs were the best idea the Engineers could come up with as a de-population tool, maybe they should have been looking over their own shoulders to see if any of their creators were reconsidering their options... -

Lurker replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Since people have now thrown out enough spoiler material on Prometheus, here are my two big problems with it: 1.) If Peter Weyland has enough resources to mount an expedition to the Engineer planet, why does he hire the most inept crew ever assembled? Did he have someone drive down to the bario and ask if anyone wanted day work? "Ah, look at the cute alien snake-like thing. I've got to pet it." LOL... 2.) If the Engineers truely were on their way to Earth with the intent to wipe out life, why use such a lame ass weapon--stockpiles of alien spawn that needs to incubate inside a living host?? Who's bright idea was that?? Why not just blow up the planet and be done with it. $100 million+ visuals with a buck ninety-five script, IMO... -
Buffalo News changing to digital subscription
Lurker replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I'm sure this will drive all the cheepskates to the Bleecher Report for their incisive Bills coverage. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.. Yeah, along the lines of what the Dallas Morning News does for $2.31 per week. Doubt it will happen, but it would be a good revenue source given all the ex pats former residents...
