  1. The UDFA from Albany or one of the HB/TE types, I suspect. Or a training camp pickup not yet a gleam in Whaley's eye...
  2. Yeah. The gadfly role gets a bit old around here, particularly with these Madden-type threads...
  3. Phat Pat Williams from the modern era. I'll have to think about the Jurasic period... [edit] Must be getting old--Cookie Gilchrist
  4. I love how these analyses come out AFTER the draft. I sometimes wonder if agent-involvement might be 'coloring' (as in green) some of the group-think that goes on leading up to draft day...
  5. He can do them...but will he be able to do them consistently? I worry about this kid's ability to process information. I hope Buddy's just playing hardball with Dansby's agent and doesn't really believe that having essentially a whole new LB group made up of vets playing out of position (Mario) and kids new to the NFL is a good idea. A $7 million deal over two years probably gets it done with Dansby, IMO...
  6. I'd say more like 42...
  7. The CB and ILB positions jump out as real concerns. Whaley has his work cut out for him in finding some bodies to add depth there (although whipping out the checkbook for Dansby would solve that immediate need).
  8. That's my take as well. Seems pretty obvious, actually, as all the Nassib buzz began after Marrone was hired. I was watching the clip of Senior Bowl practice that Kelly the Dog posted and even in that limited video, it was apparent that Nassib was having trouble on his deep balls. If he can't do it in shorts with the best wideouts in college football, how would you think he could do it on Sundays when the bullets are flying...
  9. As a 6'5" guy at 217 lbs he can post up and shield the DB from the ball ("open when he's covered" in Buddy-speak).
  10. I'll let this kid's play speak for himself...since I never want to listen to him ever again. This clip, coupled with his interview after he was picked, are cringe-worthy [flame away]
  11. Hate to slag on Ron, but I'd like him to go back to bring the reserved, knowledgeable guy he used to be, rather than the 'big voice' talking head he's becoming...
  12. Sounds like it might be a Chinese Fire Drill at SJF....hope they add Dansby to add some stability in the middle of the field.
  13. Ramius, you obviously have watched FSU and EJ a lot. What do you make of this piece (and why do so many 'Noles fans seem to be down on Manuel)? http://www.tomahawknation.com/2013/4/25/4264734/nfl-draft-2013-ej-manuel-next-level-florida-state
  14. Potential for fumble-itis. A problem Roscoe had (8.5" hand size according to this link): http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7625
  15. I can't imagine how it couldn't be setting the table for Dansby's arrival. Someone needs to camp out at the airport and provide real-time updates...
  16. I love the line..."Clevelanders say they can see why Hollywood chose this team and this town." Too funny...
  17. Probably important. Only three guys at the combine (Alec Lemon, Ryan Swope, Marlon Brown) had smaller mits...
  18. Goodwin's 13 reps were one less than Woods and were three more than Da'Rick Rogers... for comparison, TJ Graham did 8 reps at the 2012 combine and had a 33.5" vertical. The one worrisome measuable to Goodwin (and it's a big one) is hand size...8.625" for Goodwin vs. 9.125" for Austin (and 9" for Graham).
  19. Wow, thanks's for unlocking that nugget from my feeble memory vault. My memory from that era sucks so bad anymore...it just seems like those years have been erased with a giant magnet. Anyway: 1) Springsteen at the Aud in '84 from behind the stage...when the house lights came up on Born to Run and I could see the entire audience going nuts--almost like looking through Bruce's eyes--it was relevatory. 2) Talking Heads at RIT in '77...their debut album had just launched and Bryne doing Psycho Killer was unlike anything I'd experienced before. 3) Seeing the Foo's in Buffalo on the "Wasting Light' tour from great seats with my 15-year old son--just father and son experiencing the power / love of great music together was deeply satisfying.
  20. With perhaps the best yet to come: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6112819
  21. Man Boobs never played the game, which gives Marrone a whole different level of 'buy in' from the kids and the millionaires...
  22. He's just a 'solid' looking kid who has that 'NFL body-type' look about him--just in an economy-size package!
  23. He's supper well proportioned. A lot more developed in the upper body than TJ Graham (who's lower-body centric, IMO). Goodwin: http://leftonbase.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Marquise-Goodwin-Associated-Press.jpg http://ww4.hdnux.com/photos/04/12/40/1091623/4/628x471.jpg http://ww1.hdnux.com/photos/14/37/45/3275088/3/628x471.jpg Graham: http://blogs.buffalonews.com/.a/6a00d83451b85a69e2017743daa9d6970d-320wi http://www.alumniblog.ncsu.edu/blog/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/newfrontuniform.jpg I'm rooting hard for the kid and think Hackett and Marrone will be a lot more creative than Chan would've been in using this kind of skill set... The 'simulcast' is really cool (looks like Goodwin won to me!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c96Oocok21s
  24. I think Marrone's going to be a very involved, hands-on HC (check out that picture of him playing center in the recent OTA--can't picture Chan or any Bills HC ever doing that!!). He probably will "see all and know all" about these rookies, rather than doing the delegation / guy-in-the-tower routine. Hence, the addition of checkered past guys we haven't seen in quite a while around here. Maybe also why the league is gravitating toward college HCs more than the old school 'treat them like men' guys like Marv...
