A serious question, why the faith in Whaley?

And yet, Marrone loved the pick and thought highly of Cyrus after the draft... http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Doug-Marrone-All-I-care-about-is-what-you%E2%80%99re-going-to-do-now/7a113c7a-740e-4410-808e-a845a98e6ffb -
Does anyone have a good pic of the RWS sign?

Yes, it's now black. Here's another good white one: http://tireball.com/nfl/files/2013/11/wilson.png Here's another black one, but it's from above the store, not the stadium itself: http://bnwordpress.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/09/212490-625x375.jpg -

But then again, Marrone DID win the Pinstripe Bowl at the 'Cuse... -

Everything I read about him was how he has great feet? A: Yeah, he's a great football player. All three of those kids are impressive from what they can do. From a footwook standpoint, from an athletic standpoint... Q: What did you see specifically on Kouandjio? A: I thought he was a good football player. He's an excellent run blocker. He can knock people off the ball... Q: Given Seantrel (Henderson)'s issues in the past, does your background as a former offense line coach make the team more willing to take a chance on a player like that? A: Doug (Whaley) handles the roster, so that might be a better suited question for him, but we do talk about that... -

http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/bills-go-all-in-on-ejs-offense-20140511 Marrone said Watkins’ versatility presents a puzzle the offensive staff is eager to solve. “As soon as we were able to get him … I got together with the offensive staff,” he said. “We have a lot of work ahead of us. He’s excited to get back to work and we’re excited to work with him.” -
Yeah, the histrionics are getting out of hand this morning. Better to step away from the keyboard and do something more productive...

He probably thought they were in Buffalo, too. I wish there was an 'ignore user' button for Sully...

Can a HC and a GM get along and agree

In that case, hopefully, by firing one of them then. Which is perhaps what Pegs did (knowingly or unknowingly) by not caving to Marrone's power play....
-
For sure, that will be the key. I suspect it also argues for a younger, less set in his way guy (i.e, not Shanny) who can be a contemporary, rather than a Marrone type. I still prefer a strong GM org chart (with the owner simply signing the checks), but that looks like it's not in the cards for a while...
-
I'm with you on this. If Pegs were Art Ronney II, then by all means...have the HC report to him. But as I understand it, he's not even that big a football fan (relative to hockey), let alone well versed in running a sports team. Even Ralph, for all his faults, was a better 'football man' (sigh). If Terry and Kim want to interview then next HC, fine. But if they have to settle a football decision between the HC and GM, that's likely to be nothing more than a coin flip for the immediate future.

Who should have the final say in choosing a player?
Lurker replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"I'll always revere him for what he did, because he took us from being the laughingstock of the NFL to the top of the mountain," Mara said. " That quote's not about the Tuna, BTW "The Giants had not made a postseason appearance in 15 years when Young was hired by the club in 1979. In building the Giants he placed special emphasis on theNFL Draft. From his inaugural draft in 1979 through the 1995 selection process, he succeeded in signing every player drafted over that span, and from those drafts, a total of 119 players made the club at one time or another. Instrumental in his reversal of the Giants’ fortunes was his drafting of standout players such as Phil Simms, Lawrence Taylor, Joe Morris, and Carl Banks, and selecting Bill Parcells as the club’s head coach." -
Priceless...

Gotta disagree. Russ stepped in immediately after Marv left, when things were in shambles, but then 'fired himself' from player personnel as soon as Nix returned. Polian never gave a shiit about the business side of the orgainization and would have no reason to dislike Brandon with the purse strings under Daddy Pegs being wide open...
-
Russ joined the Bills in 1997, four years after Polian left, and didn't get an executive role until 2006. Doubtful that they've crossed paths much except maybe during Marv's short-term return. But even then, so what, Brandon's a marketing guy and Bill's return would have been golden for spinning up the ticket sales machine. They would have got along fine, IMO...
-
PFT now reporting that Shanny is in the mix...
-
Yes, unfortunately, that's the urban legend. Knowing Polian, I'm sure he wasn't a bit surprised by who his detractors were...so this angle is the lamest thing TG has put forth so far from his 'sources,' IMO...
