Agree on both points....

Now that move, I'd love...

Same here. The Seattle D seems to be [a bit] more physical than the Bills (probably due to their safeties) and more of a "whole-team flowing to the ball" concept. They really stand out from the more 'old school' approach Schwartz employs, IMO...

Predict Jerry Sullivan's reaction
Lurker replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sully is a "set 'em up to knock 'em down" guy. He'll love it... -
He's always been a lightning rod. That was OK in secondary markets on the way up, but to be the head man in the lightning capital of the world has surely made its mark on him. We'll have to see how his act plays in a one-paper, hyper-passonate town like Buffalo. This could get ugly fast if the D regresses next year, as unlike one of the coordinator-types, Rex's honeymoon is going to be very short, IMO...
-
Question? If Rex had coached Tampa Bay or Cincinnati or St. Louis [or Buffalo], would we think of him as "top name" coach? A lot of his alure comes from being in the media capital of the world, IMO...

Pass the Prozac...it looks like it could get bumpy.

Sigh. That's actually what I don't like about Ryan. He seems to get too caught up in the moment and doesn't keep thinking two moves ahead, like the best HCs do. After hating on the guy for so long and thinking he was a one-man hype machine, this will take time to come around to. I'm worried that the Pegulas were star-struck by his big personality vis-a-vis the low key coordinator-types who they didn't know from Adam. Terry in particular seems to like "big names" and "guys I've heard of," based on his Sabres' moves. I'll just have to think this over some more. I'd hate to see too may cooks mess up the teams' biggest strength, but I guess that question will play out in due time. Overall, I have to be honest, but I'm bummed...

Terrific coach. What an NFL run...56 years as a player or a coach. I wonder if that's some kind of record...

What are the Bills waiting for?

Pretty much the only certainty in life... -
Nice analysis. I suppose Ty gets no credit for 2013 when the Bills rushing yards (2,307) ranked second overall and were a 20-year franchise high, huh?

Head Coach Candidate: Frank Reich
Lurker replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm leaning that way as well. Pegs seems to highly value past players (i.e., what the Sabres are doing) and may be biased toward bring back Frank. The biggest worry I would have with that, however, is how much of a network Reich has with potential position coaches he would bring in, assuming they let a number of the current offensive staff go... -
Tim Graham's interview on Buffalo Rumblings
Lurker replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tired of arguing. Mary Kay Cobot, the Browns beat reporter, would not be regurgitating agent-driven puffery. She reported on Saturday Jan 5th (hence, written on Friday) that the Browns interviewed Marrone twice in Arizona. Good enough for me... -
Tim Graham's interview on Buffalo Rumblings

http://www.buffalonews.com/article/20130106/CITYANDREGION/130109516 "No one knows right now. But it’s usually the people who reach high, refusing to settle for the safe choice, who find their way to great." (I can't belive I used Sully to make a point) http://www.buffalonews.com/article/20130104/SPORTS/130109535 (by TG himself) "the Bills interviewed former Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt, current Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton and Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly, whose team won the Fiesta Bowl there Thursday night. Smith and Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone went to the desert to meet the Bills. The Bills contingent reportedly then went to Colorado to interview Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on Saturday." -

So papers of record like the Plain Dealer report it, but you're sure they're wrong. Got it... http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/01/cleveland_browns_not_meeting_w.html "One thing became clear in this epic battle between the Browns and Eagles: Syracuse coach Doug Marrone is off the table as Plan B for both clubs. Marrone, who interviewed twice with the Browns in Arizona ..." http://factoryofsadness.sportsblog.com/posts/239409/chudzinski_fired_a_closer_look.html "Cleveland's second choice, Doug Marrone, eventually went on to choose the Buffalo Bills over the Browns." -

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/01/cleveland_browns_not_meeting_w.html "Marrone, who interviewed twice with the Browns in Arizona and was believed to have talked to the Chargers, agreed to become head coach of the Bills at about 6 a.m., according to ESPN's Adam Schefter." -
Tim Graham's interview on Buffalo Rumblings

Just listened to the TG interview and my first impression is that he's (a) full of himself, and (b) he's full of shiit. So much of what he has to say about Marrone's hiring is just wrong: 1) He said Marrone was the second or third guy they interviewed. In fact they interviewed Whisenhunt, Horton, Lovie Smith and Chip Kelly before Marrone. They also interviewed Mike McCoy. So six guys total, about average for a HC search. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2013/1/5/3838310/chip-kelly-lovie-smith-doug-marrone-interviews-buffalo-bills/in/3585883 2) He said he doubted the Browns were high on Marrone, and that it was just Sexton blowing smoke. The Browns interviewed Marrone twice according to the Plain Dealer and he was on a "short list" of guys they were zeroing in on: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2012/12/for_cleveland_browns_finding_a.html http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/01/doug_marrone_hired_by_buffalo.html I could probably blow some more of his pronouncements out of the water with Googling, but my time's too valuable to waste on a light weight poser like him... -
Doh! These were guys Buddy brought back into the organization specifically to address that issue. Funny how nobody's complaining over the talent brought in over the last few drafts. I suspect this was the transition plan all along, now that Whaley's had a year of running his own board under his belt. We should be thanking these veteran scouts for the contributions they made, not lumping them into the post-Donohue cluster fuk that the scouting department became.

Great read on Rodgers development
Lurker replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Strong arm...a lot of guys have that. Flacco's become a lot more than that in recent years. All of the guys I mentioned off of the top of my head had very-E.J. like QB ratings and performance after their first two seasons. Agreed, Smith and Tannehill are never going to Canton, but they would be very serviceable in Buffalo. Certainly an upgrade from Orton or the Amish Rifle, when he was here. The point is, some QBs do improve with time and coaching. -
Well, he IS offensive, after all...

The press conferences would be better than the games...
