Mark Ingram just turned 25 and still has fresh legs. Landing a Pro Bowl-quality RB without using a valuable draft pick (that would be better used to bolster the TE or OL depth) is good asset management, IMO. The deep RB draft class should depress Ingram's market value and make a FA signing at that position much cheaper than at TE or OL. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000471168/article/loomis-mark-ingrams-saints-future-hinges-on-cap

Do we draft a running back in round 2 or resign CJ?
Lurker replied to Jmsbills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about door number three: Mark Ingram He'd fit Roman's offense better than Spiller, he's younger, has shown this year he can be a workhorse and would probably not be that costly relative to resigning C.J.... -
His freelancing was a major problem as well. Is it any wonder he had so much success against Revis? Darrelle was most likely watching E.J.'s eyes and Stevie was never where he was supposed to be...
-
Well, I think we have to consider who he was throwing to as well. Has E.J. ever had a polished WR that ran precise routes and who could be counted on to be at the spot the QB was throwing to? IMO, Stevie was released largely because E.J could never count on him to run the same route twice. The other wideouts were either rookies or had limited experience and may not have been consistently running their routes as designed either. I'm curious to see E.J. perform with a more veteran group this year and get a better read on whether the accuracy issues are still as prevalent...

Maybe we could get a package deal (for about the same $$$ as Spiller).... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-orleans-saints/post/_/id/13373/saints-burning-questions-mark-ingram

Bills to go in little-talked-about direction at QB?
Lurker replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, let's waste time debating about which 10-15 quality starters won't be available to come here. Much more productive use of time and energy... -
Gotta love the X-boxers. Being proactive about signing guys who hit the market in February is just a sound roster management. It lets them keep trolling for biggier fish and throw the little ones back, should they reel one in. This is not the 'little talked about direction at QB' move, IMO. Just a low-cost insurance policy...

He's used to being a situational player, which would suit him well in Buffalo. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/05/27/secret-superstars-2014-jets/ http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2133635-kenrick-ellis-primed-for-breakout-season-for-new-york-jets

Kendrik Ellis from the Jests might be a good price/value signing... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/39381/jets-secret-superstar-is-kenrick-ellis Kenny Britt might be a good signing for the big WR they're looking for, but the QB situation is going to work against them with whoever they target (his checkered past would be no problem for Rex and his bully build)... http://catcrave.com/2015/02/12/carolina-panthers-free-agent-focus-wr-kenny-britt/ http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Free-Agent-WR-Kenny-Britt-Visits-Bills/e40bf929-b233-463f-b6fb-dab831e1f364

Kane and Incognito, a sign of things to come?
Lurker replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The same could be said for a lot of former Bills, including the HOF-ers during the bickering years. But it didn't define who they eventually became as they grew up. What happens outside the "60 minutes" is pretty immaterial, IMO. But in the instantanious information age we now live in, that aspect of 'the game' is sadly going away... -

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/why-fiercely-independent-kane-must-change-ways/ "None of the opposing executives voiced any concern about Kane’s bold social-media moments. The famous Floyd Mayweather money-phone picture? It was almost like, “Who cares?” -

Report: Broncos could part ways with Manning
Lurker replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A question I have is...would that kind of offense keep him interested enough to play another year? He doesn't need the money and his legacy could only take a hit if he's not putting up big numbers. I think it's a real long shot to think he'd want to end a HOF career in the second smallest media market... -
http://q.usatoday.com/2014/03/06/dr-james-andrews-cyrus-kouandjios-knee-nfl-draft/ Who's to say it was botched. All the FUD passed around prior to the draft was just that...Fud. Will he have arthritis? For sure. But what I've read is it won't be a problem until 5-6 years from now, if then. IMO, his problems had as much to do with weight, conditioning, technique and experience (he was all of 21 years old last year). I look at 2014 as a red shirt year...and I think St. Doug did as well after seeing him in training camp. A full year working with an NFL strength and conditioning staff should make a big difference.

Who is the 2nd toughest Guard available ?
Lurker replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting that the Niners don't want to invest that much in an OG who's an outstanding run blocker but only average at pass pro. That was the Bills rationale for letting Levitre go, only reversed (average run, excellent pass pro). http://www.ninersnation.com/2015/2/5/7988257/mike-iupati-listed-near-top-of-nfl-coms-free-agent-rankings -
Below par as NFL rookies or as NFL starters? All three guys struggled...as virtuallty all rookies do. Whaley and Marone most certainly knew that would happen and were willing to pay that price, absent the availability of quality free agent vets. Each of them are big mauler types who, IMO, should take a step forward this year with Roman emphasizing a man-on-man power blocking scheme: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Roman-is-49ers-Brain-Behind--189214061.html http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/22-san-francisco-complex-offense-far-more-running-171041695--nfl.html
