  1. That's as far as I needed to read...
  2. I'm hoping they can trade for Evans (then re-do his contract to minimize the 2015 cap hit)... http://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2015/3/18/8228189/what-should-saints-do-with-jahri-evans-nfl-2015 http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2015/03/new_orleans_saints_salary_cap_jahri_evans.html
  3. Whoa. You've been canoodling with Miss Piggy too much....
  4. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000480093/article/best-fits-from-free-agency Percy Harvin to the Bills The price was right, and the fit is even better. Buffalo's offensive coordinator Greg Roman is creative, and has a ton of versatile weapons to use: Harvin, LeSean McCoy, Sammy Watkins, and Charles Clay. We love Harvin's fit in an offense that should focus on short passing and finding mismatches. Harvin knows he has hit a career crossroads. If he wants another big long-term contract, he will need to produce this season. Buffalo got a Pro Bowl talent at a bargain price. -- Gregg Rosenthal
  5. Man, just looking at a few other teams is interesting. The Saint's just have to do something with Jahri Evans ($11 million cap hit). I'm sure the Bills could offer a helping hand here... http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints/cap/
  6. Well, if they sign this guy, maybe they could run right as well. He'd fit right in with the 'building a bully' strategy...
  7. Live long and prosper...
  8. All pretty young guys as well, although you can debate how many miles Shady has accumulated. A young team overall, unlike many of the "dream teams" that have 1-2 year windows. They have the ability to be a little patient on the franchise QB as most of the core roster will be in their primes for a while...
  9. LOL...now that the Fins have capitulated, how soon can the Bills start re-working that deal? Anyone know if they can say... "Opps, we meant to make it a back-loaded contract. We'd like to pay you just $12 million over the first two years. Sorry about that...Here's a nice big bonus check for our mistake."
  10. That structure helps this year, but absolutely guarantees it would be ripped up and redone if they decide to keep him beyond 2015. It's an interesting approach to the one-year "prove it" type contracts that guys have to sign once they become question marks. And $2 million in dead money in 2016 (when they have like $50 million in cap space) shouldn't be too hard to handle...
  11. Frankly, I've always liked John because he wasn't an over-the-top homer for the Bills. Unlike the 'GR crowd, he keeps things in perspective, balancing the good and bad. Now that the Jills are kaput, I suppose some may want a cheerleader. But we have enough of that in other places without turning the play-by-play guy into Myron Cope...
  12. I think it would still be a win/win for the Bills if they did. While it would knock some of the explosiveness out of our offense, we probably have enough now to be much better than last year. Conversely, the Fins' reduced ability to fill out their roster would likely make them less of a competitive threat for 2-3 years, if not longer...

  14. Yeah, he's a pretty good weathervane. Or maybe I should say, windsock...
  15. Here we go...Air Pegula on the move! http://flightaware.com/live/flight/XSR960
  16. That would be a risk if they cut him in 2017. But if he's at all productive, he'll likely be on the roster 3-4 or more years, which would mitigate the risk. Whaley appears to be a real risk taker, relative to most GMs. Time will tell if that's prudent, but it sure is fun to watch his plan come together...
  17. I read somewhere that the Fins have the fourth highest amount of 'dead cap' money in 2015 (I believe around $18 million-plus). That has to factor into their roster budgeting when it comes to need-to-have vs. want-to-have player decisions...
  18. It's also relative. I keep seeing these "the Patriots don't overpay, so they win" stories. Well, the Pats are lucky enough to have a HOF QB (maybe the best of the last 20 years) who's still got gas in the tank and who makes everyone on the roster (and even the ball boys) much better than virtually every other team. A HOF head coach doesn't hurt, either. Take Brady away and then see if underpaying would work for New England...I suspect they'd be just another good-but-not-great team, like the Steelers or Green Bay (who also get quite a lift from their franchise QBs). IMO, the Bills are taking a very bold approach to the problem of not having a franchise QB. It's a gamble, but its not a stretch to think they can be like the Giants in 2012 or Ravens in 2013 if they stay healthy and have a bit of luck...
  19. I think it's a certainty that they restructure next year. They could give him a little more guaranteed as an inducement (say $15 million over four years, on top of the $12 million paid out in 2015) and cut his cap number down to a more manageable $5-$6 million range.
  20. You know, I think his argument has merit relative to his own position. Why should ESPN pay more for a talented analyst when it can spend less and hire a guy like him. Talk about value...
  21. Going, going.... http://espn.go.com/blog/miami-dolphins/post/_/id/13873/dolphins-should-let-charles-clay-walk
  22. Yeah, that's quite a fork in the road he took....
  23. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000479677/article/charles-clay-signs-offer-sheet-with-buffalo-bills "Buffalo's quarterback situation may be up in the air, but this is one of the most talented teams in football on both sides of the ball."
  24. Yeah, it's a hoot. It will be especially funny next year when the Bills restructure the $$$ and lower his cap hit to something more favorable...
