  1. Harvey Johnson. Man, those were disfunctional days... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Johnson_(coach) "It was speculated that Johnson's love of thoroughbred horse racing, a passion he shared with owner Ralph Wilson, allowed him to stay on the Bills payroll despite his poor performance in coaching..."
  2. Pearl Street will be more fun (with the bar right next door http://pearlstreetgrill.com/images/PearlStreetMenu_web.pdf ) as it's really geared to Sabres fans. The Lafayette is much more elegant and has some nice bars, but is more of a business/wedding kind of place. Not sure of the parking situation at the Lofts, however. You should plan on a 30 minute drive on game day as the Lackawanna toll booths will be backed up, even two hours before the game.
  3. The Bills sent quite a contingent to Hobart to work him out: "The reason is and this was explained to me by the Buffalo Bills when they came in, they brought their Offensive Coordinator, their Tight End coach, their Offensive Line coach and Chris Palmer (their Assistant Head Coach) and they said there was only three people in the last 20 years that had a 30-rep bench and over a 30 vertical and Ali is one of them so they knew he was very athletic and what they wanted to know was if he could catch a pass," Cragg explained." http://www.fltimes.com/sports/article_7081998a-e9bf-11e4-b260-7fb41491e9b1.html
  4. You go, baby doll... http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2015-04-23/britt-mchenry-video-espn-nfl-draft-reporter-car-towed-suspension-punishment-fired-job-tape
  5. So in other words...we're becoming a better team. Isn't that bar-bell salary structure typical of any long-term playoff calibre team, where the 'stars' are retained / re-signed (like in the case of Hughes, Dareus, etc.) and the draft is used to fill out the roster.
  6. Yawn...been there, done that.
  7. Bruce, because he's still be All Pro today. Billy Shaw if he could be the equivalent size to modern day O lineman...
  8. Hard to put much stock in that stack rank without the actual grades. Also, if E.J. could have the career arc/outlook of Bridgewater, I'd be OK with that...
  9. In his prior stint here, Lee tried to "fix" Fitz and I thought he actually regressed. It was almost like you could see the wheels turning as he thought about technique rather being his natural gunslinger self. Maybe E.J. will be more successful in being coached up, but I'm not sold on Lee's ability to be that guy...
  10. Any drafted QB since Kelly...
  11. http://www.tvb.org/media/file/Nielsen_2014-2015_DMA_Ranks.pdf
  12. King's another one who doesn't think we'll beat the Pats in week 2...
  13. Defeatest way of looking at it. Beat two top opponents early and have a big leg up on the playoffs...
  14. Yeah, anything past 4-6 years for a second round pick is gravy, which is why I think Whaley was willing to roll the dice on him. Kujo would have to be performing at a very high level to get a third contract as there are always younger, hungrier, cheaper guys looking to take the job...
  15. It's terrific. Much, much better than a two hour "comic book movie." I really like the narrative flow that allowed the back story to play out after 6-7 episodes, trusting the audience's intelligence rather than hitting them over the head early, so as not to spook the 'hard of thinking' types. I'd pay real $$$ to get more material like this as opposed to the movie theater cookie cutter, paint-by-numbers dreck that's diluted the genre in recent years...
  16. +1 That draft pick would likely not be the 2nd or 3rd rounder (since they said those guys are envisioned to be immediate contributors) and it's unlikely a 5th-7th round pick could beat out a guy with Hogan's experience to be the 5th wideout on game days. Likely a practice squad addition, unless they strike gold...
  17. Is it me, or does Rodak just seem desperate for click-throughs lately...
  18. That one will always be special for me as well. First year of marrage, newly purchased first first home, beautiful weather and a housewarming party, watching the game in the sun porch with family and close friends. My neighbor later told me he thought about dialing 911 when he heard the screams from everyone when Kelly scored. Great memories...
  19. He's limited athletically but I'd love to have a guy of his temprament on the Bills. He's be a great fit for the 'bully' Rex wants to build. Old school, tough, team-first mentality. His weak combine performance may push him down to the 5th where he'd be a good value pick...
  20. It may take a while to staff up, but this may be worth waiting for: http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2015/04/17/ibm-to-hire-500-for-new-buffalo-office-location.html
  21. The new ESPN web design is a failure and this is Rodak's pathetic attempt to generate click-throughs...
  22. Me neither. C.J. could never live up to where he was drafted, but he was a fine Bill and had some electrifying moments. He was a good teammate and (as the article shows) had a real fondness for WNY. I hope he does well in NOLA...
  23. Who in the hell would give a towing company a good rating anyway? Of course no one likes them...but that doesn't justify the arrogant, personalized $hit she was spewing at the attendent. Sadly, this will probably help her career as rather than being just another in a long line of eye candy she'll now have some name recognition...
  24. Yeah, that's pretty funny. The NYC media will be crying themselves to sleep for a long time about not having Rex around to make their live easier or interesting...
  25. In my experience, many (most) reporters are cynics, which seems to help in terms of having a B.S. detector, but also tends to make them have a dreary world view / outlook on life. Many also think of themselves as "writers" trapped in a mundane, disposable business. My father in law was a career newspaper man and I met many of his friends and colleagues over the years. My current job requires me to frequently deal with reporters as well. Among the older, pre-Internet age group, there are definite similarities in attitude, outlook and general grumpy-ness...
