  1. IMO, he'd actually be a better compliment to Dareus than Kyle, who doesn't really play the "space eater" role that Rex likes to employ. We all love Kyle, but he often seems to guess on which gap to attack--which works great when he's right, but opens a big hole when the play goes to the other side.
  2. IIRC, it hasn't been established yet that he's the father. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/la-collins-questioned-pregnant-murder-article-1.2203115 That's one of the things the authorities are trying to determine, so I suspect they'll ask him for a DNA sample...
  3. Davis is looking more and more like the pick at 50...
  4. He'd be long gone by 50. And I can't see them moving that many guys to new positions on the OL..just too disruptive.
  5. Sombody's screwed.... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/a-gronking-remember-becomes-memorable-791678 WARNING: NSFW... http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/01/07/a-gronking-to-remember-speed-read-8-naughtiest-bits.html
  6. I think they'll keep the 2nd rounder, as they'll get a very good prospect at 50. I can seen them trading the 3rd, probably dropping down to the bottom of the round to pick up a 4th. Guys with 3rd-4th round grades all seem about equal, IMO, so getting a another pick in round 4 would be worthwhile Might be what they're thinking of in terms of getting the ammo to select their developmental QB as well...
  7. They're paid to stir the pot and get readers taking about them. In the case you describe, they've done their job...
  8. I suspect Rex will have the team highly focused this year and his player-friendly style shouldn't be an issue. In fact it will probably be a good rallying point. Where he may have issues is in year 2-3-4....when guys know what to expect and take advantage of it. That's where the coaches Namath mentioned had a big advantage and why they were able to have such long careers...
  9. Davis would be a fine pick, providing a solid rotational guy in 2015 and a potential replacement to Kyle down the road. IMO, pick 81 had better be an OT/G under that scenario...although I suspect it'd be CB given Rex's love for the position. EDIT: Maybe this Fanspeak mock I just ran is a good omen... 50: R2P18 DT CARL DAVIS IOWA 81: R3P17 G A.J. 10. If they truly like him and could trade back into the 4th round to get him, then I'd have no problem with it. But I want pick 50 and 81 to be immediate contributors in 2015. If they use one of those picks on Petty, I'll be majorly bummed...
  11. GIGO. Other than Rivers and Palmer, the difference between the predicted and actual DYAR on that list is enormous! Those guys just futz with numbers, IMO...
  12. I do think teams play that game. It's why the Fin's panicked and jumped up to take Dion Jordan two years ago. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/26/dolphins-couldnt-believe-jordan-trade-as-cheap-as-it-was/

  14. Already two pages on a guy nobody knew was on the roster. The draft can't get here soon enough...

  16. +1 That would be an excellent outcome...
  17. I think an OT who could also slide inside would be ideal. Guys like Jake Fisher, Donovan Smith or Daryl Williams (the name alone makes him a natural fit). Pure OT's like Clemmings or Ogbuehi would have less positional flexibility and more bust factor...
  18. Who says it doesn't? Why do some players struggle to learn their assignments and some have no problem with it? A guy with the ability to quickly understand what the coaching staff wants put it into practice can often beat out a "better athlete" who needs muliple reps or a lot of coaching. This seems particularly true of O-linemen, where many guys are able to overcome physical limitations with savvy and smarts.

  20. That's been a real key... http://nypost.com/2015/04/25/an-exhaustive-ranking-of-every-nfl-teams-draft-haul-since-2010/ 9. BillsGMs: Russ Brandon (2010), Buddy Nix (2011-12), Doug Whaley (2013-14) Average position of 1st pick: 8.4 Total Picks: 42 Pro Bowlers: 2 Best Pick: DT Marcell Dareus — 2011 1st round Worst Pick: DT Torell Troup — 2010 2nd round Coach Rex Ryan is going to benefit from how well the Bills have drafted in recent years. The one area they have missed on is at quarterback, where EJ Manuel, their 2013 1st-round pick, does not look like the answer.
  21. My take on the Wonderlic detractors is that they start from a straw man position--that it doesn't correlate with on-the-field performance. What they should be studying is how strongly it correlates with the ability to process written information--as in, how a player absorbs the playbook and weekly gameplans. This is a big part of being an NFL player. Can some guys overcome their cognative limitations and have HOF careers? Of course. There are tons of examples, beyond those in the article. But all things being equal, I think a team would prefer a player that has the ability to quickly absorb and comprehend information so that they don't have to have rep after rep after rep to get the "light bulb to go on." Imo
  22. I think he got stuck with Modrak's draft board on that one. Buddy was hired as GM on December 31, 2009 and much of the scouting work had already been completed on that year's draft class. While he had rejoined the team a year earlier as a national scout, I don't think he was able to put his best effort into the 2010 draft...
  23. Reminds me of when Joe Mihalich left Niagara and most of his good players transferred out. NU's still trying to recover from that clusterfuk...
