  1. Now we know why Buffalo / TSW / life in general is such a ****hole. Complaining is a birthright around here...
  2. Apples and pears. Jones had more targets in his second year alone (102) than Moulds had in his first two years combined (89). It's much more of a passing league today and Jones' production needs to be adjusted to what his contemporaries are putting up, not guys from twenty years ago. 5. One TD in his last 5 games--when his team averaged over 320 yards per game in passing offense. William's wasn't producing at the CFL level when it mattered. Why should we think he can at the NFL level?
  6. Check out his last 6 games with Edmonton last year--when they were making a big push for the playoffs and failed miserably. William's was a non-factor. All his yards and TDs came in the first part of the season...then, meh.
  7. I see a guy who continually falls off the wagon. Gets called out, straightens up for a while, then reverts to bad / lazy habits. He's got some physical talent but I'm not sure about the rest of the package. The NFL is not going to put up with guys who have to be chaperoned very much--especially if they're FAs...
  8. More like one year. This is a guy who was dropped by Auburn, failed miserably as an UDFA with the Rams and came into his first training camp in the CFL unprepaired? What kind of 5-watt light does he have burning upstairs?? https://buffalonews.com/2019/05/04/buffalo-bills-josh-allen-brandon-beane-nfl-draft-vic-carucci-football/ "...Early in his first training camp with the Eskimos, one night after mandatory practices and meetings, Reilly hosted a players-only walkthrough on the field. Reilly was the franchise quarterback, a two-time Grey Cup champion on the way to being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player of 2017. He’s since become the third quarterback in league history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in three consecutive seasons, joining Anthony Cavillo and Doug Flutie. Reilly commanded respect. And he didn’t think twice about holding Williams to account. “We were going through some of our no-huddle hand signals,” Reilly recalled, “and I noticed he wasn’t really paying attention how I wanted him to, and so I called him out in front of everybody and asked him what the previous play was and what his route was on it and all that stuff, and he didn’t have an answer for me.” Williams stammered and tried to guess. “And he’s like, ‘Nah, you wrong,’ ” Williams remembered. “He was like, ‘You ain’t going to be here long doing that. This is our job. We feed our families with this.’ ------------------------------------------------- Williams caught 46 passes for 715 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games that season, but once he caught a couple of deep balls, defensive coordinators began to game plan against him, all but eliminating that aspect of his game. Williams' limited repertoire became apparent, as did his poor conditioning. He surpassed 100 receiving yards in four of his first seven games, and then never again down the stretch. Williams’ playing time decreased, along with his productivity, as more capable teammates returned from injuries. Williams recorded no stats in the team’s final five games, all victories until a playoff loss to the Calgary Stampeders in the West Final.

  10. My concern would be Williams learning the playbook. And since there are no running starts in the NFL and few 180 pound CBs, that play he made in the CFL (while fun to watch) is pretty irrelevant...
  11. It would be great if Duke pans out but I just don't see it happening. He's Da'Rick Rogers 2.0 and has a large mountain to climb, IMO. This story in the BN gives me less--not more--good feelings about him as a prospect.... https://buffalonews.com/2019/05/03/buffalo-bills-duke-williams-wide-receiver-viral-nfl-cfl-edmonton-eskimos/

  13. There are tons of guys in the NFL who may not have been 5-start recruits to power five schools but who excel based on their intangibles--desire, intelligence and hard work. Ask Bill Belichick about those types. Or Fred Jackson...
  14. That's the same philosophy Polian and Marv had back in the day. On-field production is what matters most, not the underware olympics...
  15. “The three-tech was probably the one, losing Kyle Williams (to retirement), that if you were going to pick a hole that we really wanted to come out of there with, we did. We didn’t know if it would fall our way, but we were sure thrilled that Ed Oliver was there at nine.” http://blog.siriusxm.com/buffalo-bills-brandon-beane-ed-oliver-university-of-houston-nfl-draft/
  16. Then there's this counterpoint, from Fairburn in today's The Athletic (which of course makes Gabriel look even lamer): "...Seeing Oliver’s pro-day workout live cemented it for Beane, though. It wasn’t about how Oliver performed in the drills. It was about how he responded when coaches from various teams wanted to see him run specific drills afterward. Oliver wasn’t getting much rest because there was only one other defensive lineman working out that day. “He kept going,” Beane said. “He didn’t quit. He was huffing there, but he kept going and he never stopped. I liked the fight. He didn’t complain. I was thinking to myself, ‘This guy’s going to die.’ But he answered the questions there.” The questions about Oliver never seemed to surround his ability, but rather his coachability. Beane did the necessary recon, talking to coaches at Houston but also having a 20-minute conversation with former Houston coach Major Applewhite, who is now on Alabama’s staff. Applewhite and Oliver had a public incident on the sideline during a game this season, but Beane left his conversation with Applewhite comfortable with it. “Ed says what’s on his mind, but it’s genuine,” Beane said. “If you want to call it unfiltered, it’s not in a bad way. He’s just going to say what he thinks once he trusts you. When I talked to Major Applewhite, he told me the whole story, how Ed handled it, how he was remorseful. He thought part of it was Ed’s competitiveness. He wanted to be on the field and wasn’t on the field and felt like he was letting his teammates down. Maybe he was a little emotional about that. It was an ESPN game and they blew it up. If it was any other game, it never would have been an issue. It was the perfect storm.”
  17. LOL! That line just blew up his whole credibility to critique Oliver or any player for that matter....
