  1. Big whoop. Most head coaches want "their people" and will do whatever it takes to make that happen. It's not unique to Gruden. Defense-oriented coaches who play a 3-4 scheme will jettison players who fit a 4-3. Offense-minded coaches who play air raid schemes will get rid of ground and pound guys. What the "other guy" did to get to 12-4 is irrelevant to them (but sadly not the fans, who everyone knows will spend their $$$ no matter what). They're the #### of the walk until they're not, and will act accordingly...
  2. Or a seat cushion. Do they think people are going to use them as weapons??
  3. Seems appropriate for this article....
  4. Seems like a tabloid / LAMP-type article to me. I stopped reading at this: "Only 10 members of the Raiders’ 53-man roster—and just six offensive and defensive starters—have been with the team since before Gruden’s return." If that's a slag on Chucky, then couldn't the same thing be said for the Bills and McBeane? Or most NFL head coaches coming to a new team...
  5. I suppose Rosenhaus should send AB the bucket-size, not the gallon jug...
  6. While the punter issue remains a big one, I'm optimistic. We saw some very good depth in the 2s and 3s during preseason. Those are core special teams players, so that's encouraging. Andre Roberts should be a big addition to the return game. And now that Hauschka's is in good health, that should be plus as well (I hope I didn't just jinx them for Sunday)...
  7. Nope. It was Fan-demonium, but no goal posts were harmed in the making of that memory... Shush! Mom probably never heard that part....
  8. Some great pics from the 1990 game: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/media/cinematic/gallery/15292363/
  9. I remember that well, and thought the same thing--look out below! Crazy how people brought hacksaws to the game (times sure have changed ) Do you remember when they put a ring of police around the field to keep fans from doing it again a few years later. Funny stuff...
  10. Beat Miami in 1990: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-12-24-sp-5212-story.html Jets in 1988 September 1980 (snapped 27 game losing streak vs. Miami) https://www.niagara-gazette.com/news/local_news/the-day-they-got-the-buffalo-bills-goalposts/article_4e9d9af7-b883-5de1-80ee-36c7400ee976.html
  11. Well, it certainly helps if you're a strong playoff caliber team if you're going to go that route. Of the 2018 playoff teams that lost in week 1 that you cited up-thread, only the Colts situation was comparable to what the Bills might do this year with a week 1 loss (especially to a divisional opponant). All of the other week 1 losers in 2018 were solid/consensus playoff teams--of which the Bills are definitely not, based on most NFL observers' esrimation right now...
  12. Nice straw man. The thread's premise is "its a big game." Not "it's a season-killer if we lose"...
  13. * Saints (went 13-2 the rest of the way) * Bears (went 12-3 the rest of the way) * Chargers (went 12-3 the rest of the way) Texans (went 11-4 the rest of the way) Seahawks (went 10-5 the rest of the way) Colts (went 10-5 the rest of the way) Cowboys (went 10-5 the rest of the way) * Division game IMO, the Bills will be better than last year. But there's very little chance they match those week 2-17 records this year. This is a big game...
  14. He's famous for this, isn't he: Or was it this? http://www.nfl.com/m/share?p=%2Fvideos%2Fnfl-game-highlights%2F0ap3000000890650%2FByron-Marshall-falls-over-on-kickoff-nearly-muffs-return
  15. Nope. But an key AFC contender for a playoff spot will be 0-1....
  16. Nope. Division games count a lot more. Source: Patriots, New England
  17. Most important game in many years. With Miami tanking, the winner of this game will have 3 divisional wins guaranteed. If the Bills can win here, the Jets game in Buffalo in week 17 could give them four divisional wins. If they split with NE, that's five. They would then only have to go .500 in all other games to get a good shot at a 10-6 season and the playoffs...
  18. LOL! If the Jets thought he had potential, they would have had no problem keeping him on their PS, any more than the Bills are with Allen. The fact he had a very poor training camp and preseason (21 of 45 47%, 4 picks, no TD's) is why he didn't stick, not Darnold...
  19. Re-signed when Harry went on IR...
  20. Not when he's punting into the wind. In the 90s, I remember an Arizona punter had a wind-aided negative yardage punt at Rich Stadium. Craziest thing I ever saw Then again, maybe wind-aided punts aren't so bad...
  21. That host was Trev Alberts, the former Nebraska linebacker (6'4", 245 lbs), so not much different than Bruce...
  22. Wow. He only played in the first preseason game, so that seems a little presumptuous...
  23. Treadwell ran a 4.65 at the combine, 4.63 at his pro day. They're very similar, indeed...
  24. I've also read his best fit is as a 3-4 LB. Tampa revamped their D to that alignment this year and he still didn't click (apparently not so good against the run)... Colquitt is supposed to be a very good holder, so their interest was justified... Having a $100 body but a ten-cent head doesn't take you far in the NFL...
  25. I had the same thought about why we haven't seen a signing yet. They may just hold their breath on Bojo until they can audition his replacement over the next couple of weeks...
