He was terrific early on but for some reason his impact went in reverse proportion to his experience. I don't think we make the first 2 super bowls without him, but he had little impact in the following 2 super bowl appearance seasons. Unknowable question is would we have taken players with the picks we gave up that allowed us to beat Dallas. We'll never know but I still think the trade was a good one base on his role in getting us into the first 2.

Agree that division is completely up for grabs. KC has shows a lot of character fighting back to .500 (1 behind bolts) and even the Denver Tebows are just 2 games behind with most of the season left to play. Rex Ryan is a toe sucker but he was right calling bolts out for having a lame ass coach too.

Bills SOS has been very tough so it's no surprise we do well in projections that include it. Out of the 6 teams we've played 4 have winning records, 1 is .500. So it looks easier now with 3 games against teams with losing records and 3 games against teams at .500. All of this is wildly speculative of course and fluctuates weekly. Some other things that might factor into their model is both of our losses we're on the road and by a FG, which is the standard home field advantage aasumption. Our low defense ranking may not hurt us that much as teams with consistent playoff appearances like pats and colts also were ranked low in this category

Merriman generated little interest outside of buffalo because he hadn't done anything in years and the consensus he was washed up. Players like fred and Steve know if they perform they will get paid whether it's here or somewhere else. Only thing merriman did was drain the well some so there's less to pay out for everyone else. These vague justifications for his value are a bunch of crap. It's far more likely guys who are performing like Stevie and Freddie get turned off knowing a blowhard riding on fumes got paid several times what they're making.
