Saints shouldn't give brees a long term deal
truth on hold replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have a strong running game:. Thomas averaged over 5 ypc, sproles almost 7 Ingram had a solid rookie year. Question is why didn't they run more? Brees knowing he had a contract coming at end of season most likely padding his own stats. His offseason rants about getting paid for his passing stats support that. -

I see another enforcement scandal brewing. Those cops should have known facial consumption was legal in Florida provided it was between 2 naked consenting adults. -

He'd better have strong virus protection for that too -
Farley showed up smaller at the combine than had been assumed. He was also a one gap 4-3 DL when bills were still committed to 3-4. There was little chance we were taking him at 3.

Saints shouldn't give brees a long term deal

Never said brees was a bum, I said he was good. Clearly I'm pointing out factors which raised question marks about him, providing balance to "he walked across the gulf waters on his way to new Orleans" perception some have. And yes having rivers waiting in the wings made him more expendable in SD. -

Baloney. He wasn't a lock to be "crossing the threshold" in anyone's mind. He was the qb of the consensus most talented team in the nfl who were headed in reverse going 9&7 finishing 3rd in their division versus 12&4 the year prior. his lone playoff appearance the year prior was a loss at home to the underdog jets wherein he coughed up a very costly pick and managed to produce only 17 pts All your fantasizing that he walked on water when he arrive on new Orleans shores won't change that. -

Never said be wasnt. He was a good player with question marks about his ability perform in post season and stay healthy. Ie could he be great? Obviously the chargers and others had their doubts. Heck Miami opted for that dud culpepper over him. The team that stuck their neck out for him was Payton and the saints. And do I think he benefitted greatly under Payton's system and the teams overall support? Yeah damn straight I do. Only ring on his finger proves it. Why can't you admit that? -

Lol taking a ahot at me after egg all over your face for not presenting the full terms of the his "great" 50mm deal he mysteriously turned down (because it was really only 2mm Double lol) System isn't the right word for why they soured on him in SD, talent was. They were regarded as the most talented team in the league yet couldn't even get to the big one, let alone win it. Brees had a penttient for laying eggs in the playoffs, even losing a home game to the mighty chad Pennington. That plus being undersized and injured spelled the end. -
Saints shouldn't give brees a long term deal

Wake up man The last deal offered by chargers had only $2mm guaranteed yr1. The remainder was heavily incentive laden. He rightly took that as a vote of no confidence and looked around for something better. Chargers didn't pursue any further. writing was clearly on the wall. They were moving on from Brees and giving the ball to rivers. -
Saints shouldn't give brees a long term deal

It was the best deal offered to a smallish QB with a season ending shoulder injury on his throwing arm side who'd been made expandable by a younger, stronger QB. He took it and got access to a brilliant offensive minded coach who surrounded him with talent and changed his fortunes for good. Now brees won't give an ounce of credit or thanks to anyone else and is just playing hard ball with a franchise under duress. Fine, saints should play hard ball in return and keep the franchise tag on him, no long term deal. Exactly my point in the threads title. -

Yes brees performed for the saints , but he wasn't nearly as effective for the chargers. As a matter of fact , there weren't too many naysayers when chargers decided to part ways with him in favor of Rivers. As much as saints benefitted from him, he benefitted from playing under a smart, aggressive, offensive minded coach like Payton, surrounding him with offesnive talent Imagine if bills had picked him up instead and he played under jauron? Much different perspective on Brees and his capability would have been formed. But to hear Brees tell it, it's all about him. He's the guy, saints did nothing for him, and they'd be'd crazy to not just give him a blank check to fill in. What's especially disturbing is how he cited their recent franchise issues as a factor they should get this deal done and pay him what he wants, no questions asked A true leader and team player, thankful for the opportunity, would be willing to make some concessions to help them out at a time like this. -
Requesting Prayers for our little girl
truth on hold replied to Cotton Fitzsimmons's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Prayers going out. I wouldn't let NYC scare you just because it's NYC. There are plenty of budget places to stay all over. And good thing about Roosevelt location its close to major subway lines like 1/9 and A/C, which is a $5 round trip to pretty much anywhere up and down west side. Its also close to central park to help with your psyche. Obviously hospital is primary place to look for guidance, but you may also want to check out Craigslist for places to stay on west side of manhattan. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/hhh/ Midtown locations could also work for Roosevelt. -
Espn afc east dream/nightmare case scenarios
truth on hold replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get that but how does the team with best conference record get the team with the worst record 2&14 colts on the schedule ? Or 5&11 jags? -
What about the NYU professor they brought out to refute the ancient alien theorists sporting a Mo? Lol

Pretty much agree with assessment of bills. Gotta find out what we really have in fitz (I have plenty of doubt). With regard to runnig game I wouldn't say consistency is the issue freds health is. If he's in and healthy he's a model of consistency. Spiller is still an unknown. I'd also highlight injury risk even more, it's amazing how bad the bug bites us every year. I don't see high probability for jets winding up in the best case scenario. They haven't addressed running game, and I don't care how many weights Sanchez lifts in the off season, he's still a bum. The only way out of the box is if their high risk/ high reward draft choices come up big. What I dont get is how the defending afc champ pats end up with the weakest SOS. Don't get that at all. http://m.espn.go.com/wireless/story?storyId=7967766

Famous people you've seen in person

Thought of another; Harvey keitel. I was standing on a roof deck and he hollered over from the adjacent and taller building , wanting to know what kind of wood it was made of. I hollered back "I think cedar" lol -
Thank you Dwayne wade ! That guy has really shown why he's an elite player these last 2 games. Picked himself and his team off the mat and blew away those pacers pretenders.
-
I have no "dog in this hunt" as they say since buffalo lost its team and Knicks are out of it. My only interest is in seeing the best teams advance to make for the most interesting and competitive series. That's why I want Miami over pacers, because surely pacers aren't going anywhere and only have a chance in this series due to bosh absence and questionable suspensions.
-
It is without bosh. Haslem had 14 pts and seemed to have been the answer they were looking for w/o bosh. Complete crap 2 heat are out while the pacer who decked wade and started this crap doesn't sit, even though the league upgraded his flagrant foul to category 1. WTF !!!!
