  1. The problem is you keep trying to play up lofton like he was some kind of stud that reed fed off of. Lofton was a sideshow to reed and clearly on the downside of his career. He wasn't the #1 wr on the team, reed was. Moss OTH was in his prime, Vikings #1, and the IMO the best deep threat ever. Couldn't ask for a better setup for an underneath wr like carter. So we can stop with the lofton - moss comparison let's look at their numbers. - loft on 4 season with bills 2736 yards, 21 TDs - moss 4 w/ vikes 5396 yards , 53 TDs There is no comparison. Its just silly to mention them in the same breath
  2. Harrison IMO is a first balled HoF'er. i dont see how Reed is a lock next year @ all. In that time watch Brown get elevated too, just like Carter. I think Reeds chances get worse not better
  3. Moss numbers in Minnesota blow the doors off Loftons in Buffalo. And Culpepper before the injury was clicking, ran really well too
  4. Carter also benefitted hugely with the over the top attention the defense gave to moss. What do you think opened up all those underneath routes carter thrived on? Reed had an aging lofton who was waived by bills a year after their first super bowl, out of the league another year later, and don beebe ...
  5. Pretty disgusted by this. They teased him for years. He's being punished for bills losing super bowls. Yet carter gets in having never even won a conference championship while having played on some talented teams, including alongside one of the top-5 best ever WRs in moss. Sapp also should not have been first time. After one ring in Tampa had several forgettable years in Oakland. Bottom line is this: both Carter and sapp are in the media as analysts, reed is not. Its a popularity contest. You want to increase your chances of the media voting you in the HoF, become part of the media.
  6. Don't you think at the collegiate level you have to focus more on their good games as a sign of potential and give them a pass (at least more so than pros) on the bad ones? These are often full time students playing alongside students, with rosters that can turn over a lot every year. They simply can't be expected to be as prepared and perform as consistently week to week as pros.
  7. I'm with you on this one. Stuff like this goes on all the time and IMO is a matter between marino, his wife and family, and the the other woman and daughter. Doesn't change my view of him one bit as a football analyst. I always though he stunk and was just taking up a seat in that role anyway. But even if I thought he were good again would not change my view a bit.
  8. all things considered with the pressure 'cuse was getting on him, he did have a pretty good game against them. Needs to learn to eat a sack sometimes, but that's coachable
  9. Failure to counter? Its worse, our policy on Syria SUPPORTED the rise of islamic radicals there, including Al Qaeda. Yet another stunning example of how our attempts at nation building overseas lead to stunningly bad outcomes for US and the region. .
  10. Its one of two forms of Portuguese bull fighting practiced on the island of Terceira .... Popular since the 16th century, the "touradas à corda" (literally bullfights-by-rope) are held by local Terceiran villagers from April/May to late September. In these events, similar to the Running of the Bulls, a bull is let loose from the town’s square (or other open space) with a very long rope around its neck. The other end of the rope are held by eight "pastores", men dressed in traditional garb (white shirts, grey pants and a black hat), who control the animal from a distance (providing some sense of security). Courageous people then attempt to provoke the animal and get as close to it while avoiding being gored (resulting in many examples of humorous provocations, fearless attempts and the occasional injury or mayhem). Some "touradas à corda" also do away with the rope entirely or become semi-aquatic (when the bulls chase the participants off a dock). Following these "games" the animal is eventually retrieved and a festival will begin. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terceira_Island#section_4
  11. He's strong against the run and his weakness is pass coverage. Is that really a secret to anyone? He was over drafted because jauron needed a versatile stud @ SS to make his 4-3 cover-2 work. And he's just not that guy like a bob sanders. IMO He's a lot better off in Frisco's 3-4 base where there's another LB to help cover the TE and patrol close to the line.
  12. Ravens 24 9ers 17 Ravens have enough athleticism and veteran savvy on defense to contain Kaepernick. Not saying they will completely shut him down or he will choke, but they will contain him enough to the point he comes up with a "flat" game. 2 weeks off also gives Ravens vets/injured some time to rest up. 9ers won't be able to beat up or out do Ravens intensity -- typically their 2 biggest non-X's and O's advantage. Look what happened with the last physical and intense team they played when Seahawks demolished them. And Ravens have enough on offense now to score enough points to win. Only thing that concerns me about Ravens is Rice fumbling like he did against Denver. If he and Ravens don't turn it over, I feel good about this one.
  13. I was surprised at not just how aggressive they can be, but intelligent and athletic too. Taking proper angles just launching their 1,000+ bodies into stands, onto concrete barriers and even flipping boats over in the water is just nuts. They remind me of WWE wrestlers when they pretend to lose it and a melee breaks out. But these bulls aren't pretending !
  14. Marshall faulk in on it now too ... "Am I over the loss? Yeah, I'm over the loss," Faulk, now an NFL Network analyst, told Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England. "But I'll never be over being cheated out of the Super Bowl . That's a different story. I can understand losing a Super Bowl , that's fine ... "But how things happened and what took place. Obviously, the commissioner gets to handle things how he wants to handle them, but if they wanted us to shut up about what happened, show us the tapes. Don't burn 'em." ------- Geez folks give it a rest. Wasnt jimmy Johnson almost bragging about sending a spy to bills super bowl practise facility to see what plays theyre working on?
  15. Middle linebacker. Actually wouldn't mind if its MLB rd1, qb rd2 or 3. Not seeing much difference between QBs projected to go anywhere in first 2 & 1/2 rounds.
  16. NFL.com reported that bills are one of 4 teams that have shown interest. Cards, chiefs and eagles the other 3 (eagles surprise me a little with an option to keep Vick and the promising foles). they also noted jets haven't expressed interest ... Salary cap hell!
  17. Ours when i was growing up used to sadistically torture mice in front of us for hours. They'd be half dead and bleeding, he'd pretend he was letting them escape, then pounce on them at the last second , dragging them back to center stage for more torture. Then when he decided it was time to put them out of their misery, the end would come in a macabre climax of gory dismemberment. Cat was super cute too, which masked a nasty sadism.
  18. I'd rank them ... #1 1985: Bruce Smith (all time leading sack leader), Derrick Burroughs (excellent corner up until career ending injury), Frank Reich (terrific backup QB who was instrumental to their success and who would have started for other teams) and Andre Reed (4th round steal) #2 1983: mostly because of Jim Kelly, but also picked up Talley #3 2001: Hit on all first 5 picks with good to excellent starters Clements, Schobel, Henry, Ron Edwards and Jennings. Here's the history: http://www.nfl.com/d...=0610&type=team Be curious what others think.
  19. Can't say I'm surprised with the character assassination obsession he has towards Russell. I'd like to see how NS would hold up under such intense scrutiny and mud slinging. But the bottom line is this , fudging numbers or not, with the amount of time and effort NS has used crapping on the guy, bills could have had him in, see if he's losing weight as a first sign of commitment, check out of his arm and mobility, and have a chat to get a sense where his head is at.
  20. That's nor what I meant. He joined the league as a rookie on a really bad team. One of the most dysfunctional ever, and certainly the worst over the last 10 yrs or so. Look at aikmam yr 2, 11 TDs, 18 picks. That ratio only turned marginally positive his 3rd year (11/10) when he was starting to be surrounded by guys named emmitt, Irvin, novacek, and one of the best lines ever. Testeverde yr 2, ghastly 15 TDs, 35 picks. You think Russell wouldn't have done better with cowboys than raiders? No, well how have raiders done since he left?
  21. If you damn a guy for bad numbers starting out on as a rookie on a bad team, check out guys like testeverde and aikman. Horrific. And what is it I'm digging my heels on? That he's worth coming in to turn his head and cough, throw some balls to PS WRs, and shoot the breeze with an assistant coach for an hour? The only one digging his heels is you claiming that represents some major investment that would set the franchise back
  22. it doesnt matter, everyone carves their own path. if you want to play that game: Who was the last undrafted QB who went from Arena football to the NFL, appearing in 3 super bowls for 2 different teams, winning one? Who was the last 5'10"rookie QB that tied the rookie TD passing record and guided his team to divisional round of the playoffs? Who was the last QB taken in the 6th round that's appeared in 5 super bowls, winning 3?
  23. isnt is sad we dont have a legit QB on the roster that would afford us the luxury of taking advantage of all these lovely weapons that are coming out? if he's there @8 and someone is truly committed to BPA, he'd have to be on the shortlist btw he wrote in the comments he has Bills take EJ in rd3 ... I dont see him there, but you never know
  24. Pound for pound, nature's best hunting machine: night vision eyes, 360 hearing, fangs, retractable claws, stealthy, quick reflexes, agile, can climb and leap safely from heights, can swim .... I understand theyre not too popular down under for the havoc the wreak on native animal species
