unfortunately we dont play them, because with Locker and Fitz Id be chalking that up as a win. Before with Hasselback as backup I rooted for Locker to start, knowing Hasselback gave them a much better chance.

Think "velocity" not "strength". How many mph on his fastball do you think Scwarzenager added from all that weight lifting? Not much if any (may have even lost some with the added weight, changing body dimensions, and joint wear and tear). Conversely how impressive do you think 5'10"160 lb pitcher Tim Lincecum who throws it 90+ mph would be lifting weights in the gym? NFL QBs really need 3 things: velocity, accuracy and ability to vary trajectory (related to "touch"). Fitz lacked all 3. IMO best combination today is Eli Manning. The Bills @ Giants 2 seasons ago was an all telling comparison, and the game I officially gave up on Fitz.

had that one monster year in 2010, but that was his only 1,000 yard season in 10. Not surprised NE didn't keep him I wouldnt spend much if anything on him

I thought he was a good player, and under appreciated being a convenient scapegoat for fitz failings. We'll find out now with Tom throwing to him

Fitz we know is not a starter in this league (some of us knew it a lot sooner than others). Kolb has potential as a starter. Therefore kolb is infinitely better than Fitz.

Well im not saying they will follow jets, just that teams with an open competition seem to have 3 or more at start of camp

Right now jets have 3 (Sanchez, McElroy and garard ... Forget tebow who'll be waived if can't be traded) and there's talk of a 4th with kolb.

Who'll be the 3rd guy? That seems to be the minimum # teams have when there's an open competition. For example last year Seattle had Wilson, Flynn and TJ

Not sure why this was a response to my post since I never said that. But since you bring it up, is hard for me to argue with the consensus this is a weak qb class. And FYI there have been drafts that didn't produce a starting quality QB (eg 96' most notable tony banks, bobby hoying, danny kanell http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_NFL_Draft#section_1) Others have produced one decent starter like a plummer, but still not a guy you expect to take you to the promised land. That said if we were to use our #8 on a qb, it would only be barkley or geno, in that order.
