Its not a big deal either way. Doesn't take up much of the cap space we had and being a FA required no pics. Flynn was the better prospect but would have been more costly. It matter of value and I stated in a different thread the max value I would have paid for Flynn. Won't know if he could have been had there unless someone else trades for him like raiders. The other consideration is a round 1 qb this year almost certainly precludes you from taking a round 1 qb next year. Could be painful if a juicier prospect is there when we draft round 1 2014

He does look a little slow and flat out there at times mentally. i dont have high expectations other than he can be a 7-9 kind of guy. But he has more potential than Fitz to go beyond that, so in that sense its an upgrade. What this tells me is that they dont like the 2013 QB class, will pass on a QB in round 1 unless (maybe) Geno falls to 8. And w/ only 6 picks versus our needs, they didnt want to trade any for Flynn. They'll probably take a QB later. If Kolb, TJ and rookie TBA dont cut it in 2013 and the season is a write-off, they'll position themselves draftwise for the better looking 2014 QB class. Your first year as HC is when you have the luxury of a bad season, better use it now.

You can make a greater claim about not having seen enough of any qb in the draft at the pro level, yet teams use high picks on them all time. What I've seen of him strikes me as excellent. Smart, accurate, moves well in pocket, can throw on the run, has good zip on the ball, and very confident and competitive. Had that "it" factor of a montana or Brady. The only other qb I saw go from backup to starter that impressed me immmediately with similar qualities as Brady. And actually its easy to see why Wilson won starting job in Seattle; flynn was hurt in camp and Wilson is damn good. If it requires picks over 2 drafts id measure them against the 1 draft scale I already provided.

IMO from watching both, Flynn is better and there really no doubt about it. That said neither neither is a sure thing and both have a chance to be a legit starter, so its really a matter of value. If is Flynn for a 4th or less I'd go with him, giving us the freedom on our first 3 picks to address other needs. 3rd I'm indifferent. 2nd or 1st I'd go with kolb.
