RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson
truth on hold replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The "Big 3" in this draft are Clowney, Robinson, and Watkins ... the order is almost irrelevant. Just pick the one your team needs. And we got one of them. That's all I need to know. What does concern me however is our QB. Is he the type that will be able to use all these weapons? -
Does anyone think DT is now a need?

Me too, no Rb is worth #9 overall. Rd1 DT Rd2/3 RB -

I agree. And Donald is a penetrator, has a great burst, doesn't take plays off, and has to be accounted for every down or he'll hurt you ... i.e. everything Dareus is not. RB wouldn't be bad either, been saying for a while our RB game is over rated, and given Fred's age it's a ticking time bomb: Fred has some power but he's old and slow (getting older and slower), Spiller has speed but no power and can't stay healthy. -

He'll put on the 10 lbs easy once he hits the Buffalo wing joints lol -

Why? We're not playing a 3-4 base D -

Kiper gets a lot of grief but I think his assessment of Donald is spot on: "He’s the third best defensive player in this draft by far, and that’s behind Clowney and Mack who both are in line to be the No. 1 pick. Do the math. A defensive tackle in today’s NFL who dominated the regular season, dominated the Senior Bowl practices, dominated the combine, did everything perfect" http://www.cardiachill.com/2014/5/7/5690180/2014-nfl-draft-aaron-donald-pitt-football-pittsburgh-panthers-cowboys-chicago-bears-projections -

Fine with me. I've been ready to move on from MD since the day we drafted him. Buddy Nix was one heck of a horrible GM. Horrific drafts ... -

Fat s#%&. Still p!$$@$ me off to no end we took him when AJ Green (top 3 WR) and Patrick Peterson (top 3 DB) were sitting right there. But nooooo we had to go with the "safe" pick. Yeah right. -
BB is famous for designing plays around his players vs trying to impose a scheme on them. Add in JM loves TT and Brady is secure in his position, I could see some plays designed for TT. Not saying a lot, but a few throughout season. And BTW there are situations like a 4th and 2 where they would punt with Brady but instead out tebow under center and give him the option, is another real possibility that doesn't even involve Brady missing a play.
-
Exactly backup QB (position hes listed as) who can scramble and get tough yards, something Brady can't do. I never said anything about TE or RB because its ridiculous. As for Brady "not losing a play" that's just some reporter popping off ... No basis in what BB and JM will actually do. But I take it to you and some others here its "factual" lol
-
No Welker, gronk health issues, to go along with no dominant runner, immobile QB ... Pats prepare for changes rather than rear view mirror stats.
-
The only thing "factual" about the bolded part is that a yahoo reporter claimed to have gotten the info from some unnamed bronco players and coaches. We don't know who, how many, how representative they were of the team as a whole, what other factors were at work ... We don't know to what degree the reported embellished the story (all the way to making it up). The irony of course in using this to bash TT is that the author based his charge of ineptness by how easy it was for the pats to make him look silly and yet theyre the team who just signed him!
-
Has to be one of the most ignorant statements I've ever read. I'm not going to even bother pointing out the posts that do since they're all around.
-
Since religion grates on you so much, here's a suggestion: ignore them. Just like you apparently have done with a whole mess of players over the years.
-
errrr no, it's quite the opposite. Anyone who has a problem with a mild mannered guy who respects his team, just because he talks about his faith IMO has the problem. They're the ones making an issue of it, not him. btw, the religious references ("devoutly") don't even apply here ... fwiw I don't consider myself a religious person, and only find myself in houses of worship for weddings or as a tourist. But I have no problem with people discussing whats important to them for inspiration .. unlike YOU, SJBF and several others out there who are creating the distraction.
-
because you're talking nonsense and trying to draw parallels to malcontents like TO, Moss, etc. Quote: "How much do you wanna bet that Belichick has made it a condition of employment that Tebow not do anything more than the bare minimum with regards to the media? What does he do other than answer media questions about football in a respectful fashion, and separately talk about his religion? You REALLY THINK Patriots or any team would attempt or EVEN GET AWAY with stipulating in his contract he's not allowed to speak publicly about his faith? unreal
-
Man you are really obsessed with bringing the dude down. Must be excruciating for you. Bottom line: he just got signed by the most successful franchise of the last 15 years, and you're still throwing darts from your mom's basement.
-
They probably figured they'd take a flyer on a later round pick on a guy that looked like Brady: immobile, stands tall in pocket, great arm. If it worked out they wouldn't need to change what they're doing on offense. But Brady has an incredibly quick mind for reading defenses and doing all the other subtle things like checking off DBs that maybe mallet hasn't shown progress developing. Maybe they accepted the plug n play Brady backup strategy isn't working so they get a guy with a nearly opposite skill set to Brady, and throw the defense some curves.
-
Not explicitly no, that's why I said I "read into this" based on other factors. Mallet had physical skills but also baggage and he is kind of a nut. I could see him not progressing. They may figure tebow can't be any worse , only better, so its worth a shot.
-
Exactly. Will further display the contrast between a well run and confident organization versus the circus act. I also read into this they're not happy with mallet as backup. There have been rumors they were trying to trade him.

I looked up the "1312" on his right hand too. Stands for "All Cops Are Bas#@*ds" (per letter order in alphabet). Real mature for a 62 year old ... LOL -
Geno Smith "not overwhelming"
truth on hold replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not surprised because he didn't strike me as a day 1 starter (and apparently no one else since he went rd2). He's a guy that needs to sit a while and learn. Given his attitude the real risk is his capacity to take a back seat and learn the position. -
Hence the phrase "... should raise impeachment discussions ..." versus a conclusive " ... Actions are clearly an impeachable offense." I'd like a light shined on the back dealings of the Obama admin in foreign affairs. He was the president elected to end this BS, and its not happening. Discussing impeachment would be a catalyst for this. It was tossed around at Bush for this reason, why is Obama getting a pass?
-
IMO our policy towards the Syria conflict has been botched so bad from the start it should raise impeachment discussions; at a minimum all the "analysts" advising Hillary and Obama should be fired. Analysts: Foreign militant Islamists streaming into Syria to face Hezbollah ".... there are signs now that an increasing number are remaining in free-standing units that operate independently and are willing to clash with other rebels and Syrian communities to implement their own rigid vision of Islamist governance." “The numbers are increasing, with more radical groups inside now,” said Salman Shaikh, director of the Brookings Institution’s Doha Center in Qatar." On Friday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a pro-opposition research center in London, posted a video from Aleppo on its Facebook that purportedly shows members of the Nusra Front, a fighting group manned in large part by non-Syrians, replacing a Syrian revolutionary flag with the black flag associated with their al Qaida-aligned movement. The Observatory noted that “local civil activists have voiced much anger as a result. Read more here: http://www.mcclatchy...w#storylink=cpy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yhTTqKeIVo&feature=youtu.be
