Actually the most economically conversative politicians like ron paul want no drug laws because they think the govt shouldnt be telling people what they can and can't put in their bodies. They also point to the horrificly high costs of the so-called war on drugs (including our prison population) as the true cost to society.

Report: Bills attempted to trade up for Carlos Hyde
truth on hold replied to johnwalter's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
@ rmags, no chance Bo who was as much as a half second faster. george maybe because he lacked speed too. Not sure "absolutely dominating" he was though, since he was out of the league by 30, and only averaged 4+ yards/carry in 2 of his 8 seasons. -
next big name to get cut or traded
truth on hold replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As far as "big names" by Buffalo standards, I'd say Dareus. If Marrone is going to be perceived as the fair and consistent coach he needs to successfully manage the team, Dareus should be gone with one more screw up. -

Hyde is bigger and slower than gore. I see him more as a lendale white ... Nice college career, nothing special as a pro -
Report: Bills attempted to trade up for Carlos Hyde

Hyde has some nice moves and power, but that 4.66/40 scares me. IMO speed (lack thereof) is the biggest reason college success doesn't always translate to pros. My expectations for Bryce Brown are just as high, if not higher -
Richard Sherman was the NFL's Highest Paid CB

Better teams and defensive-minded coaches realize the primary importance of the secondary in this era, not just for passing but also in run support. -
Watkins trade compared to Julio Jones trade

I think you'll find that pretty much any level of draft ... pretty much mixed bag. But pundits are acting like we gave up a sure 1st ballot HoF'er in 2015 -
Kiper gives Bills low marks in draft
truth on hold replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper had value years ago simply because no one else was as into the draft, and he was the most concentrated source of information. With the internet and so much coverage these days, his lack of player evaluation skills are obvious. A few years ago he chatted up Jimmy Clausen to no end, how he was moving up boards and how great he'd be in the pros. And a big part of the reason he rated Colts draft so low this year is because they spent their first on Trent Richardson, whom Kiper had this to say about Cleveland taking him in 2012: "To have a multi-dimensional player on the field that you never have to take off the field, like Steven Jackson with the Rams, and he never fumbles the ball, that’s tough to overlook. For this team and what Richardson brings you, you don’t need anybody else at that spot. He can carry the workload because he can catch. He will block, doesn’t fumble, can return kicks if you want, runs inside, runs outside. Richardson is the third-best player in this draft.” -
Rd7 Pick #237 OT Seantrel Henderson U of Miami
truth on hold replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great pick. Prototypical OT talent. If he gets his act together (and we should offer some help) he can dominate. I'd much rather take a flyer on a guy who at least has the physical attributes to excel at his position, than a stable guy who whose upside is capped due to a lack of physical attributes. Finally we have a coaching staff that "gets it" -
We both know guys with illustrious sounding college records that didn't translate into a pro career are a dime a dozen, so why even go there. I like our 7th round pick strategy a lot more ... If henderson gets his act together at least you know he has all the physical attributes to excel as his position. Sam .... sorry I'm not seeing it. And BTW I like Sam as a person, seems like a good guy. So again its nothing personal.
-
We'll never know but he may not have been drafted at all had he not been gay. Looking at his film and combine #'s this guy is simply not NFL material. All IMO but I'm glad bills didn't waste a pick on him, and it has nothing to do with his orientation

Lesean McCoy tweets Bryce will start day 1

Hopefully that's right but it was only 75 carries. Year before he had a whopping 4 funbles on 115 carries. -

Lot of things to like about this guy: 1. Speed to get outside on 1st run 2. Footwork on run @ 0:40 3. Agility run starts @ 0:53 4. Sets up blocks run @ @ 1:35 5. Presence to know he wasn't down on run @ 1:50 6. Understated confidence answering question @ 3:19 7. Doesn't shy from hits run @ 2:35 Keeps his eyes down field every run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maJzY6tYzGg Only knock is protecting the ball. If they can solve that, he will help us win ... no doubt. -

May not be so far fetched, we've been missing a back with the right combination of power and speed, and that can stay healthy. Fred has power, but he's slow (and getting slower); CJ has speed but no power (and he's frequently injured). Brown could be that combo of power, speed and durability we've been lacking -
gay, straight, or bi-curious ... I don't see him as anything more than a marginal NFL talent. Who's likely best case come fall is practice squad.

List Of Players Still Available

Rd4 AJ McCarron Rd5 D'Anthony Thomas -
I understand what you're saying, but I understood the thread to be about what should we do, rather than what will we do. Thus far I really like everything the new regime has done except being "all-in" on EJ. If I were a betting man I too would say they pass on QB this draft, but you never know they've been very mathematical in their approach thus far, maybe that leads them to determine they need a backup plan for EJ.
-
Definitely if either McCarron or Savage are there we should grab one of them. EJ needs someone with starter potential to push him, and make it clear the position is not his to own. Right now we have Tuel (who shouldn't be on any NFL roster), and Lewis who is defined as a backup. If EJ were in this draft he'd be ranked in the same category as McCarron and Savage. Right now, we have no backup plan at starter whatsoever ... we're "all-in" on a guy who's proven nothing and wasn't that highly ranked coming out.

RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson
truth on hold replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know why people keep assuming this spells a quick exit for SJ. For one thing who would trade any decent pick for an oft-injured, high priced WR with lingering head case issues? For another Williams has far greater head case issues and he's not even lock to make it out of camp. Woods had a nice start but started to fizzle toward the end. And Goodwin has not proven anything yet other than he can be an occasional deep play novelty. So why in the world would we trade SJ for nothing right now? -
RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson
truth on hold replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's exactly what they will do, figuring they don't have enough quality corners to cover all our guys. EJ will see a lot of Blitz's this year -

How do we find his replacement in time to use this elite WR crew while we can keep them together ? We have no #1 next year and good luck waiting on a franchise QB to hit FA.
