  1. A bit different treatment for the guilty in financial fraud cases in Iran Iran billionaire executed over $2.6B bank fraud TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A billionaire businessman at the heart of a $2.6 billion state bank scam in Iran, the largest fraud case since the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution, was executed Saturday, state television reported. http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2014/05/24/iran-billionaire-executed-over-26b-bank-fraud/9535639/
  2. @VADC, here you go, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame if you're looking for buffalo-derived rock owner http://www.buffalomusic.org/atoz.html
  3. My opinion of Bon Jovi is of course a little biased due to the toronto angle, but even without that don't think I'd want him part of bills ownership group. Think he's kind of a twerp and a has-been, overall just kinda lame. So I was thinking which rock star would I want part of Bills? And I came up with: TED NUGENT Which is odd because I don't like his politics, but I admit he's entertaining. I think his crazy attitude would add some energy to the franchise. He'd get in the faces of owner-bullies like kraft and Jones, be a nice change since we're always dumped on by them. And he's a hyper American patriot who'd never see the team moving to Canada
  4. Almost no one has said they think or assume he will fail. As the OP I asked what is the plan if he does. The theme is about looking ahead at our options just in case. And why wouldn't it be prudent to consider options for a 2nd year player who the jury is still very much out on, during a time when we have invested heavily in all kinds of weapons on offense? The best franchises plan for succession with hall of famers ... Montana to young, favre to rodgers, Brady to garropolo etc ... but we're not supposed to consider a true starter alternative for EJ Manuel?
  5. With all the money she got from Sterling, be kind of ironic if his ex-mistress was a part of the buying syndicate
  6. If a poll is actually practical, let's say 10,000,000 people qualify. What if 40% respond its offensive to them? Its not a majority but still a large percentage and 4,000,000 people. Still keep the name? What if 90% of the respondents reply its offensive but its only 5% of the available voters? They get to speak for the other 95% who didn't even care enough to vote?
  7. Well that to me really gets to heart of the matter: Who speaks for a community? What absolute number of people who find it offensive is enough to have it changed? Or what percent of the referenced community?
  8. But "chief" is a seniority designation, the tribe leader's title. "Redskin" refers to an actual physical feature, the skin tone, which can be a hot button for racial sensitivities.
  9. WASHINGTON — Fifty members of the Senate have signed a letter to the N.F.L. to urge its leadership to press the Washington Redskins to change the team name in the aftermath of tough sanctions against the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers for racially charged comments. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/05/22/sports/football/citing-nba-example-senators-urge-nfl-to-act-on-redskins-name.html?_r=1&referrer=
  10. He raises another nuance of "bust": what about the other guys you passed on when you drafted this guy? He is a starter, but not a difference maker, certainly not dominant. At the time I hated the pick because it was made under the desperate hysteria of needing an NT for Chan's ill-advised 3-4 conversion. I wanted either AJ Green or Patrick Peterson, thinking they were both superior players ... now the rest of league would agree. So if being a starter saves Dareus from being a flat out "bust", I'd at least say he's a wasted a pick from an opportunity cost perspective.
  11. in the 60's when RW paid $25K for the rights, who would have thought the selling commission alone would be a very large multiple?
  12. I just wish the goo goo dolls had made a lot more money, or rick james was still alive. Then we could have had a rock star loyal to WNY launch a competing bid
  13. I wonder too why @3. Did they have intelligence raiders or browns would take him 4 or 5? If not why not trade down with us for example?
  14. He is choice #11 "Other". I didn't want to type in all 32 names and I figure outside of top 10 there'd be less interest.
  15. Depending on nature of injury however, I think it can also be argued guy was a bust if it looked like he wasn't physically up to NFL durability. Was a long time ago, but if I recall correctly neither of Emtman's knee injuries were direct hits, just straight up blocks where he was engaged high and his knees gave out. In that case Id label that a bust
  16. Im guessing neither side went there due to the "mutual assured destruction" element: - Swiss didn't want to pierce their anonymous-account money machine; - US didn't want top business people and politicians implicated. Can you imagine if Warren Buffet or a super-rich politician like Kerry (thru his wife) were on there? Or as you say a campaign donor like Sheldon Adelson, or Soros? Both countries and both political parties had huge incentive to keep names on that list secret
  17. no doubt, and IMO an easy call at time. Clear case of a guy being way over-valued in the draft due to winning the Heisman
  18. 70's because of steel curtain, raiders were relevant and got away with the bad boy image, cowboys were good and last time they had any class with staubach and Landry. Oj first back to get 2000 (still only one in 14 games) 2nd was new millennium with pats and rivalries with colts (Manning vs Brady) and steelers, and grudge matches with also-rans like chargers. Super bowl drama with close wins and epic defeat against giants. People can hate all they want but the dynasty pats put together (still going strong), their style of play back then, and the overall history was amazing.
  19. So you don't think US could have exerted more pressure like threatening to revoke CS banking license in US? Or sanctioning the 8 identified European bankers, freezing their US assets, and imposing travel bans? You think we pushed all the levers we could and the outcome had nothing to do with the undisclosed names on those accounts?
  20. fair enough, I should have specified I meant from this year's draft, not known this year. Think of it from the perspective of about 5 years out. **title changed to try and reflect that
  21. Going with Bortles. Didn't see him as a top 10 pick, and not even the best QB. #3 overall will get a ton of attention, especially if it's a QB. Adding insult to injury, when the inevitable reigns are handed to him from Henne, I think there will be a drop-off and fans will be saying they want Henne back.
  22. Yeah because dumping a $#*+load of CO2 in the atmosphere is somehow good for the environment!
