  1. Absence of any park or empire series rules would weaken this defense angle even further
  2. one less chip for the defense .... seems it wasn't so ironclad Ward was violating rules at the time by being on the track...... Nascar banned its drivers from leaving their cars during a race after three-time Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart struck and killed a fellow competitor in a dirt-track event on Aug. 9. Barring circumstances such as fire or cockpit smoke, drivers involved in wrecks must now shut off electrical power and wait for safety personnel. At no time are they or their crew members allowed to approach the track or another moving vehicle. Section 9-16 of the Nascar rule book, called “On-track Incident Procedure,” takes effect immediately, Pemberton said. http://www.bloomberg...n-racecars.html
  3. Sending them back from where they came would be one-way tickets to places like France and UK as many came from the western countries who supoorted the uprising in Syria. When they were doing the exact same thing against Assad they were "rebels" and *freedom fighters".
  4. Oh geez, who would do that to a young college QB?
  5. We can only hope that EJ against bears 1st team can be a "joke* and go 12 for 17, 130 yards, a TD and no turnovers thru a little more than a quarter's worth of action.
  6. Chad henne looks good too. IMO he's the most under rated QB in football.
  7. Will Biden run for President?
  8. Shed be an extreme example of that maxim Hillary's platform is simply Hillary. If she gets power she'd have no idea what to do with it. President Hillary = poof* = abyss
  9. Nothing to do w/ honor, and everything to do w/ self interest. TS would settle to avoid a lengthy court process in which he may be found guilty, lose an even larger sum of money, tarnish his reputation and potentially be banned from the sport. In settling he would not admit guilt either, and state publicly he now looks forward to "putting the matter behind him". The Ward family would settle because the sum of money would be large (although a discount to the maximum amount), and not risk the chance hes found innocent given the case's vagaries, and them getting nothing. Theyd also advertise how they feel that although justice may not have been fully served, they too can now put the matter somewhat behind them and feel that by TS settling hes accepting responsibility. Thats for civil, crimimal is more complicated and harder for me to forecast until more is known
  10. Does Hillary stand for anything? Not being facetious but I've never seen a politician alter their statements/positions so often and seamlessly based on what they perceive as public opinion or for the appeasement of dominant lobby groups. Beyond a lack of character, I am seriously wondering if at the core she has any platform at all, or even worse any real understanding of global affairs and economics.
  11. Agreed on presumption of innocence. As for the tape or other evidence, the court may decide. I say may because as I said earlier my best guess this settles out of court.
  12. I've never concluded he was guilty, it would be premature as that determination is made by the court, especially prior to both sides having made their cases. However you've prematurely concluded he's innocent. In response to your posts I've merely pointed out where I think your legal analysis is most likely flawed, including factors I believe the plaintiffs attorney or DA could provide to demonstrate guilt.
  13. I understand that at the beginning of the thread you referred to the big 10 as laws, and later on contradicted yourself saying no one is claiming they're laws. And so do you, hence the panicky name calling tactic.
  14. Ranting doesn't make Stewart innocent any more than makes him guilty. Any agreement would almost certainly include language specifying drivers responsibility to make best efforts to avoid individual(s) on the track and cockpit areas. And even if it didn't, there are over riding statues in the law that preclude an individual from deliberately acting in a reckless and potentially harmful manner
  15. What you do need are laws to ascribe penalties to unwanted behaviors, which fundamentally invalidates 10 commandments as "laws"
  16. you keep implying that ward's presence on the track is the decisive factor working against the plaintiff. it's unlikely to matter as again it all comes down to Stewart's intent: for example, if someone is crossing a street against a red light, that does not give drivers a carte blanche to intently run them over, or purposely drive toward them in a reckless manner
  17. Figured something was fishy here because when Syrian Christians really were stranded we did nothing other than continue to support the groups attacking them. So once again we're left asking: what was the real motive of our military intervention? Yazidis Weren't Stranded, Pentagon Looks for Other Missions "...a funny thing happened when the US "advisers" got to Mount Sinjar. There weren't 40,000 starving Yazidis stranded there. In fact, the indications are that there never were, and the Pentagon quickly dropped the "rescue" plan." http://news.antiwar....other-missions/
  18. Wonder if this was a direct genetic experiment, or indirectly from all the hormones fed to farm animals. China is worlds largest consumer of pork ....everything but the "oink" finds its way into a dish. An animal with extra anything will be highly desired.
  19. Beyond the neutral argument that law and religion are just subsets of societal development (versus one derived from the other), there's the negative case where the state is constantly struggling to get religion out of the law and public institutions. In the US there are several ongoing examples such as abortion debate, gay rights, and creationism.
  20. A little more attitude like a Jim Kelly. Its a fine line between sounding like a fool like Geno smith, but I think EJ to this point has come across as too mild mannered and deferential
  21. Father makes a good corrective point in that wards suit was part orange and had reflective stripes that every other driver seems to have seen; I.e. its not the pure black suit that's been reported. Getting personal too with the family: Kevin's aunt, Wendi Ward, lashed out at Stewart on Facebook. "I feel numb, I look into the eyes of family and see a deep hurt that should not be there, my heart has pounded out of my chest for hours," Ward wrote. "thanks for thinking of our family tony Stewart when you decided to be a dxxK!"
  22. Their receives are good and they've invested a lot in them, but not being a homer here ours have a chance to be just as good if not better (more depth). Won't know until their on the field in regular season. If there's an advantage bears WRs will have its more familiarity with QB. But pass rush can change that in a hurry. IMO either secondary will get eaten alive if the QB has time to throw
  23. Chicago is a funny town. On one hand they have this big inferiority complex versus new York because of the "2nd city" label. (In my experience new yorkers don't even care or see any rivalry with chicago). Yet Chicago expresses this inferiority with a dismissive, arrogant attitude towards cities smaller than them.
