  1. The most objective and reasonable account ive heard of what started it. Anyone who still putting in all on OBJ, just speaks volumes about your own lack of integrity. Yeah, we could have had OBJ and another 1st round pick instead of Sammy, but it's no reason to condone this.. Giants punter reveals bat threat that spooked Beckham We were going through our regular routine, Odell was dancing around as he does, and he got to the 50 [yard line] and there was a guy dressed in warmup clothes, not in football gear, and he was kind of looking at Odell, Wing said. Odell was still dancing around, went to shake his hand, the guy just kind of looked at his hand and he didnt go to shake his hand. I know there were a couple of words exchanged between the two and we kept warming up. I looked back and noticed he was coming over towards where we were at on our side of the field, he got to about the 40, 35 yard line, they were just yelling at each other. Odell was, Why you not playing? kind of just back and forth, and that guy was like, Ill be the reason you dont play today and other days. Thats what he said. After that it got kind of broken up, thats when I stepped in the middle of em because they were getting pretty close. Then the ref came in and kind of sent him away, he went back to his side of the field and we just went on about our pregame. Did Wing sense this was a legitimate threat? I mean, he had a baseball bat, Wing said. He never swung it at Odell or anything like that, but it was there, it was present. He had a baseball bat. Were on a football field, he had a baseball bat. It was a legitimate threat. The guy was in an area he was not supposed to be, obviously. Asked how Beckham reacted, Wing said: Yeah, I think shaken him up is an accurate way to put it. There are reports about anti-gay slurs being directed at Beckham. Wing did not hear any of that. I cant remember, to be honest with you, Wing said. The only thing I can remember clearly was what was said to him about he would be the reason Odell would not play today and other days. An opposing player crossing the 50-yard line is rare Wing said hes never seen it before in his three years in the NFL. After a game official came over to break up the jawing between Ball and Beckham, Wing watched as Ball went over to the Carolina side of the field. All I saw was as soon as the little commotion between Odell and this man broke up I kind of still watched him as he went back to his side of the field and he went straight to Josh Norman and they had a little conversation, Wing said. I dont know what they were talking about. Wing is convinced the officials could have controlled the situation if they threw penalty flags earlier in the game. I think it had a lot to do with, I think it was the fourth or fifth play, [beckham] got body slammed, he retreated, he had his hands in the air, which is a universal sign of retreat, Wing said. Josh then body slammed him and there was flags or no help or no intervention by any official. That kind of let Odell know what kind of day it was going to be and if anyone was to stick up for Odell it had to be himself. Because the officials made it clear at that point in time they didnt want to control it or didnt have any control over it. I dont even know if theres any disciplinary actions for referees, but I think they at least have to have a talking to just to know in future games, you can stop that before it gets to that point. http://nypost.com/2015/12/23/giants-punter-reveals-bat-threat-that-spooked-beckham/
  2. Nice work, coming from the poster who defended greg Williams bounty gate regime. Lot of skeletons crawling out of that closet...
  3. lol how many posts are you up to since promising you left the thread for good? a dozen? you got no game man. I hope shady is better at keeping his promises than you are, but since lack of skill is an issue in both your cases, i doubt it
  4. He's citing the same factors as the detractors have in this thread, just not reaching the same conclusion. I doubt a player would ever say his skills are in irreversible decline, even if he believed it.
  5. Have to admit they make a solid pair...not "here, take my $750,000 watch" solid...but still I can see how guys get suckered into their game Cops release surveillance video of suspects in Knicks robbery http://nypost.com/2015/12/23/cops-release-surveillance-video-of-suspects-in-knicks-robbery/
  6. Classy move by AP. I'm sure a number of other players feel the same way.... Adrian Peterson texted support to Odell Beckham Jr. over suspension "But my personal opinion, I don't think it warranted a suspension. I had the opportunity to reach out to the young guy. I just told him, 'Hey, just learn from it, and keep your head up.'" http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14428729/minnesota-vikings-adrian-peterson-texted-support-new-york-giants-odell-beckham-jr-news-suspension-broke
  7. Actually what he's saying is what a number of us are seeing too: his skills are in rapid decline. So what's going to make him make the plays next year he missed this year? Being 28 years old and that much closer to hitting the running back wall?
  8. Ruh roh...so much for the basis for ryans defense of him
  9. According to you that game defines a players value.
  10. he's resting up for the pro-bowl. never mind the team is headed to hell. rest up and have a good probowl man, buy yourself some more jewelry with the million dollar game checks you'll be cashing and not even not playing
  11. I agree with everything you say, except that Thurman wont get fired (or at least edged out). I've been saying all along it won't be until his second season to see the benefits of Rex's defense because of the need to get the personell to fit the scheme. Fundamentally this raises a bigger problem with Rex: he should be a DC, not an HC. Hes not a good general manager (as evidenced by lack of player discipline), and he (at best) brings nothing to the offense. Just like Chan gailey is a good OC, but was ill-equipped to be an HC. Nonetheless Rex will be the HC next year, which I think makes someone vulnerable to take the fall for this season. And if its Thurman opens the door for brother rob...these Ryan's are nothing else if not bold and fiercely loyal to each other.
  12. Again, I think the main focus will be on the defense. And if Rex is a given to return, who takes the fall? Gotta be Whaley (personnel) or Thurman (DC) IMO. And if the latter who replaces him?
  13. While he's likely only here a couple more games, lets not forget what a specimen he is. One analysis ranks 2nd most athletic at combine. Crazy good numbers for a 300 LB guy. Mario Williams, defensive end, North Carolina State (67, 295 pounds) 40-yard dash: 4.70 (expected: 5.07) 10-yard split: 1.60 (expected: 1.73) Bench press reps: 35 (expected: 22) Vertical leap: 40.5 (expected: 30) Broad jump: 100 (expected: 90) Short shuttle: 4.37 (expected: 4.63) Three-cone: 7.21 (expected 7.58) http://optimumscouting.com/draft/nfl-combine-review-eight-athletic-players-combine-history.html
  14. I'm saying its a distinct enough possibility to make it worth discussing
  15. theres more upside than downside. Unbelievable to say it, but since we're bottom half in pretty much every meaningful category thats just the simple fact of it
  16. Look what happened 1 year under Thurman. 2014 Buffalo finished the season as a top five defense, ranking fourth overall, and finished in the top five in a host of different defensive categories. Chief among them, sacks (1st - 54), third down percentage (1st - 33.18), yards per play (3rd, 4.86), passing defense (3rd - 205.8), takeaways (3rd - 30) points per game (4th - 18.1) and first downs per game (5th - 18.9). 2015 Thru 14 games... 21st in total yards 30th in sacks
  17. Just playing devil's advocate, what does Thurman bring that Rob Ryan doesn't?
  18. Some are speculating Rex is gone. Just a year into this and something like $20 million left on his contract, I'm not seeing it. IMO Pegs is more likely to give Rex even more of what he wants in a critical "make or break" second season...to give him every chance to succeed before pulling the plugs. That said someone is likely to be the fall guy for this season. The biggest fall was on the defensive side, which isolates Dennis Thurman as the target. Rex has already said he relishes the thought of coaching with his brother. Putting it all together, I see Pegs granting Rex his wish and approving the hire. It may not be an immediate release of Thurman, could also be a setup to force him out by naming Rob something like "assistant HC" or "defensive consultant".
  19. If anything I think Pegs takes this the other way and doubles down on the ryan-family by allowing Rex to hire his brother rob. If there's a guy whos in trouble now to take the blame, its Thurman.
  20. I think he looked slow after coming back from injury. That end-zone pick he made pre-injury was about as athletic as an LB can be. Still even post-injury I think he starts on our LB-talent starved roster.
  21. I think we're at the point this becomes self-reinforcing as people line up on the side who they think will win, to stay on their good side. IMO theres already an element of that in the democratic primary with sanders softball approach (at time coddling) to Hillary.... Donald Trump extended his national lead in the GOP presidential race, a poll revealed Wednesday. Trump enjoys 39-percent support from national Republicans, according to the survey by CNN and ORC International, which is more than his next three closest rivals combined Sen. Ted Cruz at 18 percent, Marco Rubio and Ben Carson, both at 10 percent. http://nypost.com/2015/12/23/donald-trump-extends-national-lead-in-gop-race-new-poll-says/
  22. Painful, we could have had probowl G Mike iupati for less money than McCoy, shore up the right side of the line, and have enough left for a couple more backup RBs who'd outperform him
  23. Disgraceful, stuff like this is why I reserve the position of "innocent until proven guilty" on allegations against NFL football players. 24. stay classy panthers.... Giants Daily @NYGDaily What is a Panthers practice squad player doing going into the Giants team stretching area.. with a baseball bat? astromarko‏@astromarko Deion Sanders says that Norman called Odell a "fa**ot", carried around a baseball bat pregame and told him he was "gonna end his career". http://deadspin.com/new-video-shows-confrontation-between-odell-beckham-jr-1749253528
