Stevan Ridley, Jerod Mayo out for year for Pats
truth on hold replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
loss of mayo would be huge -- bills scored all of their 22 points after he went out -
We're on to Minnesota.
truth on hold replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its possible jets take one off pats this year. They did last year. Rex knows how to beat them, and I think the guys will play hard for him knowing what a win means. Don't forget pats have already lost to Miami this year, just like last year. If not for sweeping bills pats would not have had a winning record in division last year. -
Orton shut him down more than anything today. He refused to look at Revis side of the field until mid way thru 2nd half. Even though sammy was getting separation. When he finally went to him Sammy faked Revis out, made a nice gain and nearly scored a TD. Sammy has the upper body strength and speed to beat Revis. This bodes well for the future IMO

Marrone. Bills will finish around .500 +/- a game .... 7&9 or 9&7. The former will still be an improvement over last year and Chan, the latter could be a wildcard. Either way its enough to buy him another year and another QB in the draft or FA

Today I think you're right. That was the kind of sloppy improvised effort kind of game EJ plays his Best. Although I appreciated the win last week I've never been an Orton fan. His pattern is familiar: couple high production games followed by epic failures. He's no threat to run, and can't "feel" pressure and today didn't even see it running straight up the middle at him.

Positives for the Bills

Couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like Sammy was getting separation early and often on Revis. Sammy is the fast and physical WR that is ideal to go up against Revis. The problem was more likely Orton refused to look at Revis side of the field. But this bodes well for the future because it's correctable. -
I'm just about done with Marrone and Hackett
truth on hold replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
theyre not bad, marrone is a competitive guy ... but they're not Bellichik @ Co. ... thats for sure. Smart freaking coach who knows how to play away from opponents strengths, and doesn't leave anything on the table. Refs did him a huge favor today, but still you can't argue with their long term success, game planning, managing around injuries, and decisions during the game -
We need an NFL-caliber guard (Incognito) and a versatile back (Bryce Brown) You cant tell me this offense isn't better with those 2 guys in the lineup Our line looks uncoordinated They cant execute blocking schemes that require any movement Couldn't tell for sure, but it looked like Sammy was getting separation early and often on Revis. Sammy is the fast and physical WR that is ideal to go up against Revis. The problem was more likely Orton refused to look at Revis side of the field. But this bodes well for the future because it's correctable. Officiating was horrid today. It was just a matter of time before defense broke down. They got on Hughes early asinine call, coincidence hes the guy Brady called out before the game as most dangerous? Then killed our most important drive of the game with poor call on Watkins followed by a beyond words, blatant-biased call on Woods. Not saying we win without ref interference, but the game would have been a close one. They robbed not just the Bills of a chance, but the fans to see the sports entertainment they paid for. If Pats want to feel good about winning that way, that speaks volumes. I guess league wants to setup a Manning-Brady showdown one more time. Mayo and Ridley out for season .. karma is a you know what

Boston Globe: Keys to Patriots victory

year fair analysis, my only nit was saying Spiller had vision and patience ... I wish. Also hoping the conclusion turns out to have been biased -
Chris Williams to IR

Dolphins players loved the guy. Tannehill even stuck his neck out sticking up for him at risk of being criticized for supporting a racist. It was just that jackass Martin who used the exact same language as richie, but was having a hard time ajustting to NFL (no wonder he's not very good). And blamed scapegoated Richie for his problems. If dog drowning Vick and Riley Cooper (who clearly used racist terms) can play, why can't Richie for using off color language kidding with a guy who he thought was a friend and was using the same language ? -

my hunch is that better guard play is worth another 15-20 yards running per game ... that's just one or two more big runs from spiller. That extra 15-20 yards per probably worth at least one W too ... -

and yet a pro-bowl guard in his prime can be had for league minimum ... wow -
"Listen to me Schwartzie: don't react to play action. The Patriots love to run play-action passes, and make a lot of big plays off of it. They will pull a guard to really sell the run and force linebackers to come up to the line of scrimmage. It is very important that the defensive line stops the run well enough that the rest of the defense isn't flying up to stop the run and can instead do their jobs in coverage. Secondly, don't be afraid of their backs and receivers. Ridley, Vereen, Amendola, LaFell, Edelman, Wright and Gronkowski. Those are the Patriots' seven main skill players. Do any of those players scare you? Gronk, yes. Vereen, perhaps. But nobody else. This is not your Randy Moss, 50-points-per-game scoring Patriots offense. The playmakers are not there on their side of the field. We need to be aggressive and not worry about getting beat deep, because these guys aren't going to do it to you. Kansas City blew out the Patriots, and a lot of the game they only played one man off the line. They weren't afraid of getting beat deep, and we shouldn't be, either. Third key to victory: work the matchups. I have no doubt that the Patriots will try to get Gronkowski and Vereen matched up against our linebackers in the passing game. There will be lots of motion and shifts to help Brady identify the coverage and get matchup advantages for their players. By using 12 personnel - one back, two tight ends, two receivers - the Pats can come out in a run formation or an empty backfield. It is imperative that the Bills are prepared for this. I expect the Patriots will attempt to get Spikes in man coverage against Vereen because it's a huge advantage for them, and is something we need to try and avoid."

What if Orton Beats the Pats?

All by himself? Then based on just that one performance I'd still have to call him the greatest football player of all time -
"Jon, Mr. Bon Jovi, I can't tell you how much a fan I am of your music."

They seem like an awfully down-to-earth and positive couple. Sure hope the team performs for them

"Can't tell you how glad I am that I'm not sucking up to Bon Jovi right now."

Oh yeah we really better commit all our time to game planning around Janeane Garofalo now. -

Bellicheck does that so when there's a real injury to him no one will notice
