  1. If marrone is saying Orton is still the guy "gives us best chance to win" and he has 2nd worst QBR among starters, then he's saying EJ has learned nothing in his more than 1&1/2th seasons and last 6 games watching how a vet prepares, manages the huddle, and reads defenses. In that case its time to cut ties with EJ. Marrone can't have it both ways.
  2. Gotta a real sick feeling jets will beat us. Rex knows defense and Orton being so one-dimensional is easy to game plan. Plenty of film now from KC and Miami how to do it. Bills first win over jets was all about Geno and his turnovers. With vick starting can't count on that. Prediction: Jets 19, Bills 11
  3. For the season, Orton has a Total QBR of just 38.7. Only Austin Davis of the Rams (37.6), Geno Smith of the Jets (27.6), and Blake Bortles of the Jaguars (25.6) are ranked lower. Yeah thanks coach for "sticking with that."
  4. I'd trade Sammy + our 1st round back as follows: Beckham = definitely Evans = probably (seven catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 27-7 win last weekend ... yowza) Benjamin = probably not, just not seeing enough consistency out of him yet.
  5. Gotta believe if not for pressure from the owner, colt McCoy would still be starting
  6. I'd rank Beckham slightly ahead of watkins right now. He's got the skill set NFL covets the most: speed, route running, hands, leaping ability. Sammy has the first 3 but he's not the leaper that Beckham is. Sammy has a thicker upper and is something like 15-20 pounds heavier.
  7. Anyone I'd favor over over this staff wont be available so there's no point going there. Given that, I'm fine staying with this staff for another year .... Marrone, schwartz, and yes the much maligned hacket. The situation they inherited at QB from nix was disgraceful, and they have tried in earnest to change it.
  8. BC: here's the certified check for $2 billion from the LA group TP: thanks coach for getting me out of this mess
  9. If ej learned something from Orton on reading defenses and leadership in the huddle, that's all we could ask. Time to sit the .500 journeyman Orton and start the young guy with potential
  10. Year of the Dragon "You guys are starting to look like the Chicago Cubs. Like you already lost."
  11. from the game last night I'm thinking they could have stopped our offense too
  12. NO. Sick and tired of rebuilding. Now if a Bellicheck or Cowher miraculously dropped in our lap, of course you have to consider. But barring such a miracle, I think this staff is doing a good job with the what they inherited. The issue is primarily @ QB and that's all on Gailey and Nix.
  13. I'd keep this staff for another year if they get 7. The talent isn't there especially at QB, which is Nix's legacy. However without a 1st round pick and a limited QB market I don't see how they can upgrade talent enough to make a difference for 2015. Who are the QBs we might snag? Foles? Is he any better than what we have? Palmer? Old and multiple injrluries to same knee? IMO we have to ficus these last 6 games on making it work with EJ. At least find out what we have.
  14. Not an actual quote as in words, but I'd say this sums it up perfectly. Fart Scene in Blazing Saddles:
  15. And Khalil Mack's first sack
  16. I honestly don't think its the staff, its the QB. And thats really Nix' legacy. I don't know any coach tears up the league with Manuel and Orton. Their strengths and weakness perfectly offset ... Ej is mobile and has a strong arm downfield, but he can't read defenses, he's innacurate short and mid range, and he's too meek in the huddle. Orton makes good reads, ais accurate mid range, and he's a good leader, but hes a statue (least mobile QB in the league IMO), and his arm loses strength past about 30 yards. If you could combine them somehow wed have a complete, competetent QB we could win with.
  17. We have to get to 10 & 6 to have any sort of chance. And 10 & 6 could very well not make it this year due to stiff WC competition, and in particular Bills lose head to head against Chargers and Chiefs, and gave away head to head last night against Dolphins. But here's the biggest problem (other than our pathetic offense). Getting 10 wins means winning 5 of our last 6. 3 of those games are to powerhouse teams with elite QBs (packers, broncos, pats), and 2 of them (broncos, pats) are on the road. So we need to win the so-called "winnable" games against jets, raiders and Cleveland (although they must look at us as their "winnable" game now), and somehow go 2 and 1 against packers, broncos and pats. Folks, it's over.
  18. Obviously yes. We need to know what we have on our roster this season to know what to do in off season and draft. Given ortons long career we know what we have in him, and its not the answer. EJ is the unknown. Let's start him for the last 6 and this way get a much better handle on who he is.
  19. I started this exact same topic a month ago, and except for Jester43, all I did was get flamed for it. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/171732-i-hate-to-be-a-downer-but-robert-woods/page__fromsearch__1
  20. "I can still swing a deal with Bon Jovi to get you out of this thing whole. But you gotta let me know now. I'm afraid after the game it will be too late."
  21. He got us again at a critical time, just like the pats game. IMO fins score FG on that drive not TD w/o the horrible call. Thats 6 point 1 score lead and bills are still very much in it. Everything changed after that call. I feel bad for Gilmore. Guy makes an excellent play, just how a coach teaches them. Its a disgrace to treat professionals like this.
  22. You guys are painting an awfully bleak vision of the future
  23. win: Jets and Raiders lose: browns, broncos, packers, and patriots Will that be enough to keep the staff intact?
  24. Clint Eastwood as Will Munny in "The Unforgiven": "Any man don't wanna get killed better clear on out the back."
