The guaranteed vs non-gauranteed is a sham. Players negotiate guaranteed money based on their leverage, and many of them are quite substantial. He mentions Sherman and earl Thomas laying it out this weekend injured ... ironically both of them signed contracts recently guaranteeing tens of millions. If league rules specified fully gautanteed contracts then stated contracts would simply revert to the guaranteed amounts currently being offered.

And the league agreed with that and that's why pats had to give jets a 1st round pick.

not sure why people keep blaming orton for holding watkins back. a number of his throws to watkins were right on the money including the both TDs against vikes, both big strikes against Jets, corner route on revis, etc. Watkins himself had nothing but good things to say about orton

was never sold on Davis being in the elite class anyway. his 40 time, vertical, and long jump at the combine were startling for a TE, but it also showed hes sort of a tweener @ 250. Doesnt have the red zone or short yardage presence of some other top TEs like Gronk, Witten, graham, etc. never had a 1,000 yard season like those guys either

If you're going by draft grade bills may do it since they werent that different (especially since we're constantly told the bills would have taken ebron at 9), and their new offense will feature more TE. Also the first year stats you posted would suggest not to use ebrons rookie performance as indicative of what he'll turn into, which again could argue for the trade (at least from bills perspective).

I think ebron in the right situation will be a star. Lions was a tough rotation to break into with the dept at wr (mega, Tate) and te (fauria, pettigrew). That said ebron still lead their TEs in yards and catches. And though the #'s werent overall great, they are comparable to tony gonzalez rookie year. With mega getting older and perhaps moving on from the lions, does anyone think lions would trade ebron and their 2015 1st and 4th for Watkins? We get the TE we need (instant upgrade to chandler), and our 2015 picks back
