  1. How could I forget A Bridge Too Far? James Caan Michael Caine Sean Connery Gene Hackman Anthony Hopkins Robert Redford Laurence Olivier Elliott Gould
  2. Sorry guys, you need to take up arms and pick a side RIGHT NOW. None of this wishy-washy, wait-till-the-facts-come-out crap. Rush to judgment now, entrench your position, and defend it to the death. Seriously, though -- I'm with you guys, but I'm really enjoying the back-and-forth pissing matches in this thread. Very entertaining. We really need a popcorn smiley.
  3. I was thinking of The Outsiders and Red Dawn - not legendary casts, but several young actors who went on to have pretty good careers or were decent-sized stars for a while. Red Dawn: Patrick Swayze C. Thomas Howell Charlie Sheen Lea Thompson Jennifer Grey
  4. Yeah I think we're about the only two in NE Ohio who want to see #15 in the lineup. I just don't understand how everyone writes him off as a bust or a bum after just 100 AB's the last two years. Yet we keep trotting guys like Casey Blake, David Dellucci, J-Mike, etc., out there (thank God we moved Michaels.) And he's only 24! The offense sucks, how can Marte do any worse than what the team is already doing? Coco turning into a punk is a shock. I would have rather kept him, moved him over to LF and avoided the Dellucci/Michaels problem. You have to wonder, though - the guys who have the big personalities - Phillips, Milton Bradley, etc. - did not mesh well with Wedge, so you have to wonder if he wanted him out of there because of his attitude/personality.
  5. I was ticked that we sent him to Boston - especially since no one in Cleveland wants to give Andy Marte a legitimate shot to play regularly - but now Bah-stan can keep Crisp.
  6. Wiki says you're both right. His given name was Covelli Loyce Crisp, but on April 20, 2008 he officially changed his legal name to Coco. Not surprisingly there are no sources cited to confirm this.
  7. Actually I think Coco took a bunch of shots at the bottom of the pile...
  8. (Video at both links) There was this last night and that led to this in tonight's game. Nice work by the Rays...
  9. Although it won't happen, I'm hoping to see the Lakers sweep the Celts so I can read a couple whiny, conspiracy-laden, excuse-filled rationalizing columns from Bill Simmons.
  10. In terms of performance I wouldn't consider any of them "losses" but in terms of playing time, all three contributed significantly and could thereby be considered "losses" as someone will have to step up and fill their roles. Granted a warm body could probably contribute at least as well as two of the three, but still...
  11. This is the one that really hurts.
  12. Hmmmm...maybe they had an idea this was coming?
  13. 3 o'clock high... Don't this up, Mitchell! (NSFW)
  14. If I'm not mistaken the common thread in both moves is Stern - I think he was counsel for the league when the Braves left and he's in charge now that the Sonics are fleeing Seattle.
  15. 14 posts in and no Hardy jokes? Did I slip into some Twilight Zone version of TSW? Corp, sorry to hear about all this. Our neighbors had some weird stuff happen when we were growing up that spilled outside a couple times -- it's scary how fast that stuff can happen and it's tough to know how to handle it. I honestly don't know what I'd do in your place.
  16. Going through the timeline with my wife I think this latest opening (to get the donor heart) was the 4th (not 5th) time they cracked open his chest. I think the confusion came because he is having complications and they talked about having to go in again and do another procedure, which would be the 5th time. Either way that's a lot of trauma on the body in one year... They had to open his chest so many times because they thought the original procedure was going to repair the problem and prevent the transplant. It was a valve replacement - they implanted an artificial valve (1), which failed; they had to replace the valve with another artificial one (2); that valve calcified and his heart was enlarged, so they had to put him on the transplant list and they removed his original heart (3) and had him on an artificial heart; and finally he got the donor heart last Friday.
  17. Missed the sarcasm there, did ya? It was more of a shot at the NBA's ridiculous playoff scheduling, which still looks bad in the final round - opener on Thursday, two days off between Games 1 and 2 (Sunday) then one day off between Games 2 (Sunday) and 3 (Tuesday) - not to mention having to throw cross-country travel in that one day off - and then one day off again between 3 (Tues) and 4 (Thursday.) This doesn't even get into the stupidity of starting the games at 9 p.m.
  18. After playing two Game 7s, the Celtics will get a needed break before hosting Kobe Bryant and the Lakers on Thursday night. “We’re emotionally drained,” Garnett said. (LINK) Aw, that's nice of the NBA to give the Celts a chance to recover from their third straight long series...5+ days off before starting the finals? Are you kidding me?
  19. Two to add: Just saw it while channel surfing - Overboard with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. And the Cult Classic "Big Man on Campus" with Tom Skerritt.
  20. "I'm gonna punch you in the ovary, that's what I'm gonna do. A straight shot. Right to the babymaker."
  21. Little Nicky... And Savage Steve Holland's other 80's Teen Movie, One Crazy Summer (not sure if it's been mentioned yet.)
  22. My father-in-law just underwent a heart transplant...it is the 5th time they have opened his chest in the last year, and his medical bills are well over $1M at this point and are approaching/possibly over $2M...the hospital wouldn't even put him on the transplant list until they had written verification from his health insurance that they would pay their share of the bills.
  23. I think Stuckey tried to miss the second FT but just didn't do a good enough job of it. It looked like Billups was in his ear before the first FT and he seemed nod that he understood, so I don't know exactly what happened. I don't disagree that the Celts' late-game strategy was smart, I just didn't like it - whether it was Bah-stan, De-Troy-It or Cleveland doing it. I just hate watching the last two minutes of an NBA game run 20 minutes because of the fouls, the 15 timeouts, the clock not starting until the ball is touched in-bounds, etc.
  24. I'd be on board with that. I hate the whole late-game fouling thing - on both sides - but the Celts' "strategy" last night seemed doubly ridiculous...
