I got down to Tally in summer of 2001 and was there until January 2003, so I feel your pain. I had hoped that leaving Tally in 2003 was bring about an immediate turn of luck for the Noles, but no dice.

Same here.

That's about all I can constructively add to most political discussions.

Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, [approaches and softens] does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense! If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.

While this is still on the main board, I'll pose this question - does anyone know how to send feedback to Garmin or other GPS companies regarding the routing the GPS uses? I have seen the same issue pop up over and over again here in the area east of Cleveland, and would like to let them know so (hopefully) someone will look at it and see if it can be fixed in the next software update...

It's nice to see that competition is spurring innovation, at least for some car manufacturers. Chevy is supposed to roll out a plug-in Volt at the end of 2010, which uses lithium-ion batteries and is supposed to be able to travel the first 40 miles on the electric charge alone. Toyota saw that and sprang into action, opening a battery plant in Japan to develop new battery solutions for plug-ins. (ANOTHER LINK) Ford, OTOH, apparently has a fleet of plug-in SUVs but has no target date for them to hit the market -- they are waiting to see if consumers are really going to buy the plug-ins.

Thanks for the heads-up. It was actually a Christmas present, so I doubt they'll let give me a discount seeing as it was bought on Black Friday, but I'll give it a shot.

Roger Goodell: Leading "America's Passion"

Yeah that might be a nice alternative for the millions who can't get DirecTV for one reason or another and don't want to spend a ton of money at a sports bar every Sunday. I wish I had that option when I lived in Orlando - we spent a lot of money at the Orlando Ale House on Sundays... -
No idea if you can turn it off. On a side note, I just got an email from Garmin advertising their 2009 maps update - on sale now for $70. We paid $120 for the whole unit, so I think I'm going to pass on the update for now...

I hope it happens. When I worked at a Toyota dealership a few years ago, there was a lot of talk that Toyota was planning on making a hybrid version of almost every vehicle in their lineup by 2009-2010. (I think the Celica and the Land Cruiser were the only ones that weren't included.) This summer this 2009 models are coming out and from everything I've read Toyota's hybrid lineup is limited to the Prius, Highlander and Camry.

This will probably get moved to the OTW or Consumer Digest forums, but check out this LINK for a decent explanation. There's also a pretty good thread with a lot of GPS resources pinned in the Consumer Digest forum.

I think it's more ridiculous that the Houston ownership reportedly paid Jerry Jones $10 million for the name, since Jones was going to name his Arena league team "Texans." Now they're the Desperados. -
Wasn't Lynch supposed to confess today?

That's all well and good, but it doesn't matter until he sits on a bus and talks to a janitor like he's a regular guy and not being condescending... -
Easily my favorite poster here. And yet, a day later, he's still here.

I've seen this elsewhere, so this isn't just him. Seems a lot of business travelers have been dealing with this for some time now. LINK LINK 2 LINK 3

Hard to believe that's the same girl who played John Candy's PITA niece in Uncle Buck...

I would assume only while the car is on, but who knows. It is Chrysler, after all... And FWIW - I'll admit, I've done a little wardriving when I've been on deadline and desperate to find a HotSpot...don't usually have much luck, though...

She became a real-life MILF somewhere just pas the halfway point of the King of Queens series, but became on on-screen MILF in the series finale. Remini was huge for a while but she got back closer to her pre-baby size, toward the end of the KoQ run.

Excluding the $500 for parts and installation (which I agree with the reporter, that does seem a bit high) that $29/month is a lot cheaper than a lot of the wireless broadband services and even home broadband Internet access. Wonder how you set up wireless network security in these cars, though...

Local news here keeps showing the same mother crying about the All-Star game "segregating" the kids. Sounded to me like "my kids didn't make the team so I am going to B word and complain until they cancel the game. If my kids can't play, no one's kids can." I'd love to hear how they respond to this parent and player's concerns: Franz has one father call in whose child would have played in next week's all-star game. He said his son is very disappointed because this was the first year he was selected and he's worked hard all year to get this honor.

LINK BEACHWOOD, Ohio -- A local community has canceled an all-star game for youth baseball players because it doesn't want to exclude anyone. People in Beachwood are upset, and it's not just parents and children. The issue is when is a child just learning a game and when are they old enough to compete in it? The city of Beachwood and its recreation department drew the line at age 12. The phone lines lit up on WTAM on Thursday morning as parents and sports fans called to voice their opinion on the city canceling its all-star game for 9- to 12-year-olds. For decades the game has been played on July 4, but in a letter to the coaches, the parks and recreation department said the tradition is over, saying its not their desire to exclude any child from participating in a recreation event.

Next time you want to root for the Giants

I had no problem rooting for the Giants in the Super Bowl - the old "enemy of my enemy is my friend" routine - but otherwise they can piss off. -

Yep, I've seen that reported a couple times as well. LINK While gas station drive-offs and siphoning are far more common methods of stealing gas, reports of tank and line puncturing are starting to trickle into police departments and repair shops across the country. Some veteran mechanics and law enforcement officers say it's an unwelcome return of a crime they first saw during the Middle East oil embargo of the early 1970s. Gasoline prices surged just before the long Memorial Day holiday weekend and crept a hair higher overnight Monday to a new record national average $3.937 for a gallon of regular, according to a survey of stations by AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Given their height, Fortin said pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles are more vulnerable to the thieves who puncture the tanks and use a container to catch the fuel. Plastic tanks are typically the target, he said, since there is less chance of a catastrophic spark, and they are easier to drill into. A design change may also be contributing to the preference for a drill rather than a syphoning hose. The tanks in many vehicles now have check balls, which prevent spills in a rollover accident. They also make siphoning more difficult.
