God you're dumb. (I forget the rest of the quote - something about "thank God for that ass or something.) -
Cue the Foo Fighters: There Goes My Hero
Bmwolf21 replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's just a turn of phrase. -
Good stuff. That's why I love this board.

That's just called karma. The asterisk serves as a reminder to the rest of the football fans that Belicheat and the P*ts didn't win anything fair and square. If it were up to me I'd put asterisks on their helmets and jerseys, the end zones, the 50-yard-line...like the Scarlet Letter.
-
Exactly. Everything they've done for the last several years should have an asterisk next to it.
-
This year they accomplished 18 tainted wins and a tainted AFC Championship. That doesn't even get into previous tainted NFL titles.

I applaud your honesty, and frankly I wish more posters would admit that they have no frigging clue what the offense was supposed to do on a certain play, what the reads were, who the hot receiver was, what the call was in the huddle, etc. It's easy to sit in a recliner and yell at the TV (and I'm as guilty as anyone) but to try to pass off your individual opinions as Gospel is pretty ridiculous. I think that's a pretty good take. A lot of the weaknesses can be eliminated through experience and instruction, so I'm hoping that Jauron and co. don't screw around with him and let him work through his struggles. On a side note, I'd also put his long ball in an "Uncertain" category. I want to see more consistency on his long ball and a little less air under it. Agreed.

I wish it was something like that - a relatively simple hardware fix. It seems to be intermittent problems, with a new one popping up every day.

I'm getting real close to dumping Vista. It was a headache when I first added the Vista notebook to my home network, then everything was fine for a while, but now I'm running into problems with SP1, my wireless networking, everything. Getting tired of looking for help all the time.

I would have really liked Jokinen. I was really disappointed when I saw what Phoenix gave up for him - I thought we could have offered a better package that wouldn't have significantly hurt the Sabres.

One of my pet peeves on message boards. Vaguely titled threads (like "Wow" or "Did you see this?") followed by someone calling other people out for re-posting the same story. indeed...

did josh hamilton really hit 28 HRs in round 1 of HR Derby???
Bmwolf21 replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hitting .310 (9th in the AL) with 21 HR's (3rd) and 95 RBI (1st by a wide margin) at the break - he's a Triple Crown threat this year. -
I skimmed through the post the first time and missed a couple things I want to respond to now...re: the ads and finding the bargains - it's a good idea in theory, but with gas prices the way they are, it's actually gotten to the point that you have to figure out how much extra it will cost you in gas to go to a couple different places for groceries. Here in Cleveland milk is generally around 3.29 or higher, so when it goes on sale at a Rite Aid or Walgreens we stock up there, because they are on the same road as the Giant Eagle and Acme grocery stores. We can also get milk for $2.69 at Sam's Club - but the nearest Sam's is a 15-minute highway drive. When we lived in Orlando we used to do some of our shopping at Super Target, but we've found their prices seem to have shot up faster than regular grocery stores. I wish we could find a Super Wal-Mart nearby that isn't in a bad section of town - their prices are usually much better than any of the grocery chains or even ST. Actually I've seen that special run both ways - as true BOGO and as 1/2 price for each. It's usually the former and not the latter, and is never advertised as 1/2 price on one - you usually ind out when you get to the checkout. One of the things that really gets me is the 10 for $XX, making customers believe they have to buy 10 to get the sale price. Re: the coupon inserts: My mother-in-law actually sends us coupons from the Rochester-area papers, since we've seen a noticeable difference in the number, quality and type of coupons in comparison to the Cleveland-area papers.

what is the latest on the honey bee crisis?
Bmwolf21 replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Last month there was a story about a home in NC where 60,000 bees had taken up residence in the walls, and they went to the Today Show and gave Matt Lauer some of the honey to sample. LINK -
I'm hoping Danny will bring his chain to NE Ohio. We had Tops here, but they sold most of their stores to Giant Eagle and got out of Ohio, and now GE doesn't have major competition. They do have a Fuel Perks program which gives you between 10-20 cents off per gallon of gas for each $50 you spend in store, but their prices have spiraled out of control. Every time my parents or siblings come to visit they know they have to stop at Wegmans and pick up some stuff for us in exchange for "room & board."
-
Amen.
-
Actually, if you look at his arrests, his next step is "Pacman Jones strip club random shooting" followed by "OJ slasher."
-
Clearly he deserved another chance -- I mean he's only been suspended for two full seasons, recently failed another substance test so he'll miss another full season, and now the felonious assault charges. Obviously the Bengals should have kept a guy who cannot play a down this season, which will be the third straight year he is banned from playing.

Baseball not so popular in Washington DC
Bmwolf21 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I know what you mean. It's tough to stay interested in a long season when you're out of playoff contention by Memorial Day. Same thing is going on here in Cleveland not that we're all but officially eliminated from playoff contention. I haven't watched a full game on TV in a few weeks, and last night we went to our first game in months. No one wants to waste money watching a losing team full of AAA players. -
Wow. What a bunch of frigging azzholes. Those douchebags had the race card in the holster and were itching to throw it at someone. The Commissioner who made the "offensive remarks" should have told them to F off and to pick up a science book before running their mouths.

That update will come after we hear the latest on the Chandra Levy case and right before O.J. reveals the "real killers." Update: Geraldo has breaking news on Capone's vault. Seems it's still empty.

Anybody ever read 'Fever Pitch' by Nick Hornby

And starred "giggling" Jimmy Fallon. 'Nuff said. -
I had an insurance company feed me the same pile of BS last fall. I was covering a HS football game for the local paper, using my own laptop, and during halftime the winter storm window in the press box fell out of the track and landed on the computer. Never touched by anyone during the game, nothing - just dropped out of the track and crashed on the laptop. The laptop case was cracked in two places but no major hardware damage (at least that I could discern.) So I filed a claim with the school's insurance company, thinking that they would at least pay for repairs. Insurance company fought me all the way, saying that the window and track appeared to be functional, and they couldn't be sure that it was a school employee's negligence (i.e., someone cleaned the glass and knocked it off the track) so they denied the claim. I finally gave up and let it go, because it wasn't worth my time to take them to small claims court. Good luck.

Probably 90% of the "pro sports jobs" posted are ticket sales jobs and most non ticket jobs get hundreds of applicants. From my experience it is a very tough field to get jobs by applying cold from a posting.

Warchant.com's owner/operator/FSU beat writer says ESPN (and I assume other media) jumped the gun, and that his team sources say he may come back this season. I've worked with Gene, and he's pretty reliable and usually very accurate about these things.
