  1. That's fine, you can paint my comment as ignorant or racist, but it's not the case. I simply prefer when movie adaptations are made of established characters/comics/stories that the directors/producers don't take creative license liberties with crucial details of the story, and I consider the main character's race as a critical part of the story.
  2. Yeah poor San Fran. Spend the top pick on a QB, who was the best of a weak lot but ran a gimmick offense in college, and not worthy of a top-5 pick, let alone no.1 overall, then put his development into the hands of a defensive-minded rookie head coach, and then to top it all off change the OC every year the kid is in the league. Consider it a $50M fine for unmatched stupidity.
  3. It's a Captain America movie, a follow-up of sorts to the highly successful Iron-Man movie, and a prequel to The Avengers movie. All they have to do is not fugg it up - such as completely change the backstory or cast a black actor as the lead - and they will have no problem hitting good box office numbers.
  4. I don't think anyone here wants to know about your tasty meat mixture.
  5. Not sure I get your point. I'm not trying to sell the movie to you. But the fact is that it's set in WWII, so IMO the nationalistic pride angle will work fine.
  6. No, I'm not agreeing. I think it's fine to do it in the WWII nationalistic pride theme.
  7. I'm withholding my final judgment until I see a better pic, but based on this cell-hone photo I like them. They're an immediate improvement on the slug jerseys but might not be quite as good as they could be. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of shoulder patches (which are probably going to be added to this one later) and the blue in the crest apparently not matching the blue in the jersey color.
  8. And if they camp it up it's probably going to suck. If they do away with the uber-nationalism in Captain America they might as well not even make the movie, since that is one of the major themes. Since it's set in WWII, you should probably be prepared to be disappointed.
  9. So you want them to do away with the uber-nationalism in Captain America?
  10. Couple points of clarification - first, the plan to darken the vintage jersey to match the new uniforms has been out in the open since the Sabres rolled out the vintage thirds two years ago. Second - the vintage third didn't sell a ton. They weren't even available in most stores or on the shop.nhl.com website until around February, and even then it was in limited quantities. There was talk that the league, Sabres and Rbk were limiting availability so fans would be forced to buy the slug. Those thirds from two years ago were the same tired old jerseys we had back in the 80s and 90s. A classic look to be sure, but they needed an update, a tweak, a little refresher back then. Now it's almost 20 years later and they looked even more "vintage"/retro. On this one - I just want to see the blue in the crest match the blue in the jersey and the shoulder patches added. I couldn't care less about the Day-Glo gold stripes or the silver piping.
  11. I don't think anyone was questioning Crowell's toughness or asking him to man up, but were more concerned with the timing of his surgery announcement.
  12. I guess I misunderstood the list or didn't look too in-depth at the dates. That's what happens when you're posting late, after working 11 hours. Either way, I don't think I would have included the coaches on that list - I think I would have kept it for active NFL players only.
  13. Well since VY has only played us once and won that game....
  14. Pretty much my thoughts exactly. The old site was cluttered and rough to look at. Loving the new look as well. Just guessing that since it's a beta version things are mislabeled, links aren't active, there's still debate about what menus to put things under, etc., and that they'll beta test it to see what the regular visitors like, don't like, are missing, can't find....
  15. What is the best way to show his talent when he's not a good passer and can't read defenses that well?
  16. Nah, let's twist the knife a little and test it on Boston and Foxborough, Mass.
  17. Not to pick nits, but why does a list titled "Active Longhorns in the NFL" have a bunch of retired players on there? I understand they are probably still active as coaches, scouts, etc., but that seems a bit misleading. I would think those guys who be better off listed on this list or the very least this list should be re-titled.
  18. And the P*ts hits just keep on coming...
  19. Regardless of the details and intricacies of the timeline over the the last few days, it seems clear that there is something going on with Young. Whether it is as simple as trouble adjusting to the pressure of being a NFL starting QB or is something more serious, I really hope they get it under control before he starts down the Barret Robbins path. At least he didn't claim to have sources "deep within the organization" or claim that he saw Young at the Buffalo airport...
  20. I never would have considered it before, but after seeing him in the Bourne trilogy I think Matt Damon might be a good fit.
  21. If we're lucky, we could be witnessing the implosion of the P*ts "dynasty": 1. Spygate 2. The loss of Brady 3. ?? 4. PARTY!
  22. "I've been swimming in raw sewage. I love it!" -- Lt. Frank Drebin. Welcome back.
  23. I posted this in another thread: I used to like his writing, but now I'm really enjoying watching The Sports Guy piss and moan about how the P*ts season is over: Getting final word on the Brady injury felt like being an actor on a cop show and identifying a murder victim at the morgue: Yep, that's it. That's the 2008 Pats season. You can pull the sheet back over it. Thanks. But this was what he wrote about the effect of the injury on Moss: Q: I am giving this Cassel dude four weeks. If he doesn't get better, I'm gonna jog through my routes and stop going over the middle. Cool? -- R. Moss, Foxboro, Mass. SG: Just kidding. I wrote that one. But that has been the underrated part of Brady's injury -- the Pats didn't just lose Brady, they might lose Randy Moss, too. His track record of quitting on bad quarterbacks is both extensive and frightening. I don't even want to talk about this. LINK
  24. True. Braylon Edwards missed a lot of camp with the Browns and he very looked out of sync with Derek Anderson this week.
