  1. Before he went all crazy -- The Ultimate Warrior.
  2. Brickley is fine when he's on Vs and tones down his act to appear as the unbiased national color announcer/analyst. But when he's on NESN he acts like a complete jackass, and there's no way you can convince me that his crying and whining on NESN is simply the result of working with Edwards. I've heard too much of it to know better.
  3. Add me to the disbelief congregation. When your teammates have to stop you from hurting the team in a crucial point of the game you should be fined on principle - for even pondering something that stupid. Yes it did. Wow.
  4. Is it Jack Edwards, formerly of ESPN2? He's frigging awful, and when he and his sidekick (Andy Brickley) get going it's like listening to a couple whiny schoolgirls complaining about how mean the other teams are to the Bruins.
  5. I'm in the same situation - a 24-gallon tank in my Dodge Dakota and am finally starting to use it more now that the gas has dipped below the $2 mark - I saw $1.96 on my way to work, so I'll be filling up there tonight. Add in our Giant Eagle FuelPerks savings (another 60 cents off per gallon) on this tank and I might fill up my truck for less than $30 tonight.
  6. IIRC Travis Henry dealt with that when he was with Buffalo. Don't recall how much time he missed (if any) but I do remember him trying to play through it. He might not have been the smartest RB we ever had, but he played through a lot of injuries and seemed like a tough SOB.
  7. Nailed it. It amazes me that there are a number of people (a minority, but still) who would rather throw the rookie WR under the bus for Trent's mistake. Trent's been pretty damn good for much of the year, but he fugged this one up. I seem to remember Trent talking after Hardy's TD against the Jags about how tough that throw is, because you don't want to throw it out of the end zone and want to give the WR a shot at catching it. Looked to me like he just tried to aim that throw, and came up short. All Hardy really could have done is interfere with the DB. That play will get better with more practice and reps.
  8. Yeah, unfortunately I've seen more of the Browns this year than I really wanted...I think the other confrontation was with Steptoe, but I can't be sure of that.
  9. I think it's frigging awesome.
  10. I would have shoved Anderson as well. DA chased him around the sidelines chirping at him, with Jamal Lewis following DA and trying to calm him down. Edwards finally had enough. And as I mentioned earlier - it's not the only confrontation between DA and a WR on the Browns' sideline this year. I think he got after one of the rookies and had to be pulled away by an assistant coach. True - I think we've heard that song before.
  11. There is a lot of speculation in the local media that since the move is so out of character for RAC, the order must have come down from the GM (or higher). Apparently the offensive staff was disappointed with the move but didn't try to talk RAC out of it.
  12. Agreed, and good to hear. I watched bits and pieces while at work, and it looked like a real strong crowd and a real fun atmosphere.
  13. Caught some of Luke Russert's reporting from Indiana University on NBC, and I was very impressed by his poise, his knowledge and how comfortable he looked carrying his father's legacy.
  14. Favre's success gives him a lot of leeway for a lot of bonehead plays. Anderson doesn't have that benefit - he has one so-so year under his belt, no playoff appearances, nothing. I don't disagree that there are other factors contributing to the Browns lack of success, and of course it doesn't rest solely on Anderson's shoulders. Braylon Edwards has been bad; they've had a banged-up O-Line that has struggled at times; Donte Stallworth can't stay healthy and/or get on the field; the defense, despite all the upgrades, hasn't improved much, if at all; and Jurevicious won't play at all this year. All that aside, that doesn't excuse how poorly Anderson has played or how bad the offense has been under his guidance this year, and being in Cleveland, I've seen most of this year's games. He's been bad, he's been inconsistent, and he's let his frustrations boil over, having to be been separated from teammates on the sidelines during games (at least twice that I've seen.) But are you surprised at what Crennel said? He just demoted the guy - only a jackass would run to the media and count off the ways that Andersen sucked and throw him under the bus. He tried to limit the damage and keep his backup QB's psyche intact and keep his locker room from fracturing.
  15. Could be, or he could flop under the stress of a short week of prep and in front of the home fans. Much more went into the decision than two games. Anderson has been awful for much of this season, and he was very inconsistent last year as well. This year he has the the lowest passer rating of anyone with 200 attempts (barely ahead of JaMarcus Russell) he's thrown just 9 TD passes after tossing 29 last year, and his completion % is under 50%. If you look at the games against the AFC North opponents, outside of one decent performance against Cincy, he's been especially brutal in-division. Favre>>>>>>>>>>>>Anderson.
  16. Yep. More golden parachutes for guys who fugg things up. Although I can't complain about the buyout money paid to Jeff Bowden. The best half-million dollars the Seminole Boosters ever spent.
  17. Making the switch to a rookie QB in short week and making him make his regular-season debut in a Thursday night national broadcast is pretty ballsy. Or stupid. I haven't decided which. The move is long overdue, but the timing is odd. It's almost like Crennel is setting him up to fail so he can justify his decision to stick with Anderson.
  18. Hmmm...not sure how that would work with Napster, never tried that route. Sorry.
  19. No kidding. Gotta love how that works - "you suck as head coach. Here's $6M. Please leave."
  20. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Phillip Fulmer, who a decade ago brought Tennessee its first national championship in 47 years, will not return as the Volunteers' coach next year, multiple sources told ESPN.com. An announcement is planned for Monday at 5 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium. Fulmer, who has won 150 games at his alma mater and is the dean of SEC coaches, met with Tennessee officials Monday morning, and they reached a mutual agreement that it would be best for all parties if Fulmer did not return next season. 21. This kicked off a sh------- football weekend at my house. The 'Noles lost, the Gators won, the Bills...at least the P*ts lost last night. As pissed as I want to be at Sims, it looked like that guy got his helmet right on the ball. Not much you can do. That being said, Sims shouldn't even be playing RB, he should be a LB like his brother. I haven't seen anything from Marcus that convinces me that he can do anything on the offensive side of the ball. But on the bright side, Jermaine Thomas had a helluva game. He needs to get more touches.
  22. Good stuff, thanks for the heads-up. I'll watch what I can before I go into work and DVR the rest.
  23. I use Napster to Go, $14.95/month for unlimited downloads, and it works OK for me. I just don't have a big CD collection, don't want to spend several hundred dollars to download the thousand+ songs I have on my mp3 player, and am leery about popping up on the RIAA's radar for using Limewire or something like that. With NTG you can listen to the tracks as long as you keep your subscription current (thanks, DRM software!) You can check HERE to see if your phone or mp3 player is compatible.
  24. I really liked Teri Polo after Meet the Parents and even after her crappy sitcom fell apart. Saw her on an ep of Law & Order: SVU recently and she didn't look that good, so I was a little disappointed, but here's a decent pic. (Warning - at least one NSFW pic in that gallery)
  25. I was thinking the same thing. I rolled back the DVR to see who got their ass handed to them in the hole, and sure enough it was #65. As for Preston - I didn't notice him getting beat as much as I have in the past. He had his hands full today with Jenkins, but I don't think he was that bad. I think not being able to rely on Whittle hurt a lot, though.
