  1. Depends on how we win. If we put together a solid game in all three areas -- on offense, do we show signs of being able to run the ball and protect the QB, and does Trent take better care of the football; on defense do we get to the QB and stop the run; and does the gameplan look more like games 1-4 and less like games 7-9 -- then I'll start to Billieve again. If not?
  2. I remember Stefan (not personally, mind you) from his time at WGRZ, but never heard anything about his departure.
  3. I miss the direct snap and halfback draws that Hull/Thurman/Kelly and co. executed to near perfection.
  4. Casey's parents are still fricking nutjobs.
  5. I really liked Sophie Marceau in The World is Not Enough.
  6. Why is it that this point is always overlooked? As you said, continuity is great if the guy is capable of doing the job, but keeping the same guy who clearly can't get the job done while expecting him to suddenly get better = insanity. It amazes me that some of the same people who decided after a handful of games that JP wasn't the answer are willing to give Dick three, four more seasons to figure it all out.
  7. Wow. Where's the shaking-head smiley? Nice "PR" job by Stefan Mychliweurwieoulksjdklw, BTW.
  8. Velma never looked that good in the cartoons....
  9. Amen. Preston is what he is at this point - even when he's bad he is still an upgrade over Fowler - but I'm much more concerned about Whittle and Dockery and the general play of our guards, especially over the last two games.
  10. Well put, Lori. I didn't have the time to get into the stuff I carry to each game or the difficulties that we face each week, but it is a lot more involved than most realize. For most games I carry my laptop (and all that entails) notebook, recorder, and 3-ring binder with stat sheets, rosters, and paper for the PbP charts. It can be real easy to get behind in a game at a nice stadium with good spotters and referees, and can quickly turn into a nightmare at a facility with poor sightlines, staff who are less than helpful, and limited workspace, and once you add in the early deadlines, it can be a very tough job. And it really sucks when you go to a school that is not helpful and you feel unsafe in the bleachers and press box. But back to the topic at hand - that was a fantastic read. Liz wrote a great piece about Tom, and it makes me even sadder to think of him all hooked up to the machines. But thanks for sharing it.
  11. Avril is cute in that weird skater girl punk kinda way, and apparently cleans up nice, but no contest. Like Joe said, even Avril's boyfriend thinks Megan is hotter. Thanks Boone, that helped. I'm feeling like myself again.
  12. If they want media coverage of their games, then yes, they do. In theory a reporter might be able to get away with doing the odd game here or there from the bleachers, but it is incredibly difficult to do so, and most papers and writers won't cover a game or school that doesn't provide an adequate work space that, at the very least, shelters the media from the elements. Plus most schools have coaching staffs in the press box boxes and the PA announcer and scoreboard operator are there as well.
  13. Damn, I'm channeling Steely now. Must step away from the board....
  14. Didn't he say something like "we don't try to out-think or outsmart the opponent, we try to out-execute them." Maybe we could try outsmarting or out-thinking someone, because out-executing sure as hell ain't working.
  15. Sadly there are a lot of HS stadiums where you're taking a risk just by trying to climb into the press box. Last year I had a storm window fall -- untouched -- out of its track and land on my laptop. Thankfully I wasn't sitting there when it happened, or it would have knocked me out cold. This was the same press box where I had trouble getting into the box because the box was apparently an afterthought to the bleachers - it was significantly behind and above the bleachers, leaving us to navigate (in the rain) what amounted to a fixed three-step metal step stool with one handle attached to the door frame for balance.
  16. How the hell did I get dragged back into this? I don't recall blasting you for girls with big cans, just for apparently posting with beer goggles...
  17. I saw this over the weekend on the BN page and couldn't believe it. I don't know Tom, but I know what it's like to try to navigate the structures that some high schools call "bleachers" and "stairs" leading into a shanty that could loosely be called a "press box," and I am usually saying a silent prayer that everything holds up the way it is supposed to and I get in and out safely. I am completely surprised that this is the first accident of its kind I've read about or seen. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tom and his family. What a scary situation.
  18. No, the philosophies of Jauron Ball dictate that if someone is playing well or something is working well, we stop doing that immediately so we can go back to trying to out-execute the other team.
  19. And I already said that if they run the table and belong in the BCS Championship game, then I won't say anything. I just don't like to see teams campaigning their way into the title game. Get there on the strength of your play - don't stub your toe early in the season and hope for help in the polls.
  20. Sorry, but it has nothing to do with my hatred for the Gators. If they run the table and belong in the BCS Championship game, then I won't say anything. It's when they campaign and piss and moan their way into the National Championship game that frustrates me.
  21. He's the guy who is going to move Jason Peterson back to Tight End.
  22. Good post, and I agree. It might be a little bit of "damned if you do, damned if you don't" for Marshawn, but at some point this OL crap has got to stop and these overpaid turnstiles have got to start opening some holes for the running game.
  23. Yep. And that comes from the leadership. Dickie J and that conservative, play not to lose/crap your pants "oh no here comes the Patriots" style.
