Caylee Anthony Case - Anyone Else Following This?

Whose parents are on LK tonight? Those lying-ass grandparents? -
Let's say we win 2 of the last three...

Actually the question was whether the FO would try to pass the year off as a success and if you'll buy it. But again, defining an 8-8 year with no playoffs as more "successful" than 7-9 is really just 6 of one, half-dozen of the other. The playoffs are the only thing that matters. Everything else is just jockeying for draft pick positions. -

Fine, they're "better" than last year. 7-9 or 8-8 means the same thing -- no playoffs. That's all that matters. -

Indeed, 8 is greater than 7. But 8 is not greater than 9, which is our current playoff drought. Yep. Dick's boys had a chance to go for the jugular - NE was reeling when Brady went down, we had the division in our hands, and we pissed it away. -

Playoffs are the only improvement I'm interested in. Otherwise it's all spin, BS and marketing garbage. I want to see tangible results. -
I think, actually I know some of you are over reacting

Needs: DE - Can't count on Schobel - he's on the wrong side of 30, and is coming off an injury that ended his season; Denney and Kelsay shouldn't be starters (and frankly, I'm starting to wonder about them as backups.) Pass rush is a priority. OLB - Ellison is simply not an every-down LB. Maybe he can be on the field as a backup and in obvious passing situations, but not every down. DT - Yes, we do need a viable tackle to line up next to Stroud. I'm tired of watching Kyle Williams get engulfed and pushed around, and tired of seeing our LB'ers get hit 5 yards downfield because our DT's don't command enough attention from the oppsing OL. TE - Going into a season with Robert Royal as our pass-catching TE should immediately raise red flags all over the place. Good blocking TE, sure - but not a reliable receiver. Maybe Fine can become the pass-catching TE. C - Preston showed some flashes of improvement early, but has regressed and is making horrendous mental mistakes. I also wouldn't be too upset if we got a couple new tackles and/or guards in the draft or free agency. On a side note, I don't see FS as a glaring hole that needs to be fixed NOW. I still like Ko Simpson, Whitner could be moved over to FS, and Bryan Scott has been pretty impressive the last few weeks. Plus I don't want to see another DB drafted early - there are more glaring needs that need to be filled immediately, and I shudder to think what will happen to Bill from NYC if they take another DB in the early rounds. -

Caylee Anthony Case - Anyone Else Following This?

Well they are in Florida, so she could have gone either Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico.... Seriously, though - with all the lakes and what not, and all the rural, country areas - she goes a half-mile from Mommy & Daddy's house? Really? -

Bmwolf21 replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If it is Caylee's body, then I'm really surprised at how stupid the mother (killer) is. A half-mile from the grandparents' house? Of all the places to get rid of a body. How stupid can she be? -
I agree completely that there are serious issues with the line's ability to get a push in short-yardage situations, ridiculous mental mistakes and blown assignments. I'm just saying that most people can look at the game and see that there are problems with the running game, without having to manipulate the numbers to prove it, especially when the numbers don't really bear out the regression.
-
I just want to be clear on this - are you really comparing Marshawn's rushing numbers through 13 games (in both 07 and 08) to McBabyMama's 16-game numbers in 04 and 05 to prove that the running game is regressing? And why did you leave out McBabyMama's 2006 14-game campaign?

Great stuff guys - I needed that laugh tonight. Not a fan of LaNova but good call on Papa Leo's and Duff's.

It was originally $2.5M but they upped the buyout after last season, so it works both ways. If they don't name him HC by Jan 2010 he gets $5M. He leaves, he owes the school $5M. I feel fairly confident that Jimbo is staying put, but with the way the coaching carousel has turned the last few years, I'll feel better when Auburn hires someone else to be their new coach.

Arena League expected to cancel 2009 season

Even on an arena field I doubt the Bills offense puts up more than 20 points. -
Probably much different tone than you see on the email list.

I've lost all respect for Vic Carruci

It's a low percentage play no matter who is throwing it. But I do agree that the truly asinine part is the coaching staff's stubborn refusal to let Lynch pound the ball inside the 5, and the O-line's inability to get any sort of push on running plays. -
Never spent any time reading the comments under the Browns stories on cleveland.com or visited the DawgTalkers.net forums, have you?

1/3 = 33% success rate = low-percentage play. It's asinine. -
"Once." The key word there. Only winning season in his career, followed up by a 4-12 and a 7-9 season. Agreed, and I still don't like the apples-and-oranges comparisons of say, Tom Landry's first three years as a head coach versus Jauron's first three years with his third team (full years #6, 7 and 8 of Jauron's career.)

Agreed. Why even have a play that calls for a fade route/jump ball to a 5-10 receiver? I mean come on. Even if the QB is good at that throw, throwing that jump ball to a small WR is a low-percentage play at best. Heck, why stop there? Let's take Hardy out of the red zone packages and put Parrish in there. Why not have the tall guy run the fade and have the little guy run a quick slant? You know why? Because this coaching staff is always trying to show everyone how freaking smart and unpredictable they are. Give it to Beast Mode inside the 5? Heck no, we'll switch it up and put our speed back in there. Have a LB cover a RB out of the backfield? Heck no, our DE will cover him. 3rd-and-short? I-formation, pound the rock with the biggest O-line in the league? Heck no, we'll go shotgun. We're tricky like that... -

I was just about to say something similar. Why, in a game where we were down 10 points until midway through the fourth quarter, were we throwing the ball like we were down 21? What happened to the draws, screens - hell, even a reverse or trick play might have bought the team some breathing room in the box and freed up Marshawn for a couple runs. -
I don't know. No carries, not thrown to (from what I can tell) no touches at all.

What?!? Are you serious? Are you seriously saying that all the problems yesterday were JP's doing? Nothing on the coaching, the O-line, the running game, nothing? Just all JP? Try: Lynch - 13 carries for 31 yards. Jason Peters - abused by Joey Porter Evans - 3 catches for 23 yards Fred Jackson - NO touches at all Duke Preston - not knowing where the QB is on the snap Lynch, Royal and Hardy - dropped passes that hit them in the hands 14 called running plays, 18 total rushes versus 27 pass plays Come on. I know JP played poorly yesterday and I know you hate him, but to absolve 10 other players and the entire coaching staff of their blame for yesterday's performance is absolutely ludicrous.
