Well, Green, allbeit injury prone, is a capable stopgap and had over 1,000 yards last season...Lewis is better than a sharp stick in the eye given a better situation...and Henry, granted he probably would not have come back anyway, is better than a kick to the crotch and had a good year. We are now left with Pappy Dillon, Christin Brown, and the Refrigerator Droughns (probably)...not a handsome choice! The best available is probably Rhodes.

It seems like they waited awhile to get this done. Quality FAs are not there anymore. Now that they have an extra 3rd, why not take a run at Michael Turner? I know the price is steep, but the cupboard is extremely bare and a rookie starter (to carry the entire load) is not the short term answer. Thoughts??

I understand and agree (to a certain point) what you guys are saying. However, he didn't exactly endear himself on the way out. I think he could have handled it a little better. It's not like he wasn't well rewarded for the last 10 years.

I agree completely. There are lots of excellent college QBs that can't conform to the NFL game (almost every Florida QB in the last 20 yrs!!). Especially these guys that are exceptional athletes and average QBs. Let's be real here, Vince Young won the Rose Bowl because of his athletic ability, not his QB skills.

Guys, always remember (from a guy who works with statistics all the time), statistics can easily be manipulated into saying whatever you want them to. Also, you need to know the context in which the were derived. There may be absolutely no difference between 58 and 63%...then again there may be a huge difference between 60 and 62%. You have to take all statistics with a grain of salt. Having said that, I'm not excited at this point about any of the QBs on the roster. That being the case, give JP a shot and see what comes of it. Only trade him if there is a really good deal (which, there won't be). Even if Holcomb gives the Bills the best chance to win now it, ultimately gets the team nothing because they certainly aren't going to win the Super Bowl this year. Let's see what we have since there is no better option.

Reggie Wells - OL - tendered offer sheet

Point taken. I guess almost anything is somewhat of an upgrade. -

Shanahan pulls rejects from another team and tries (sometimes successfully) to make them fit into his scheme. Last year he pulled a bunch of guys off of a horrible Browns D and actually made his team better. Wells is a young guy with some talent (i.e. upside) who has underachieved in Arizona. -

I think you're absolutely right about that. Plus Willis was a little nicked up last year. That always scares me after the injury he had! -

I realize he has potential, but you guys do realize he was a lineman on a team with one of the worst runnig games in the league...are the Bills trying to pull a Shanahan? -

I disagree with one thing...with the signing of Chester for good money, the Vikes may be less inclined to give Mo a decent shot at starting. -
Harrington was never a Detroit type guy...he plays the piano, like classical music, etc. Not you typical blue collar Detroit person. I think he still has skills and may do well with a change of scenery. Millen is running that franchise into the ground and Harrington got blamed for it. Sure he had receivers, but never had an o-line. It's risky, but the payoff could be big. I concede we don't know what we have in Losman, but Holcomb is, at best, a temporary answer. I agree with Mug...Harrington got a bad rap.

After seeing Mo Morris for 5 years (college and pro) living on the west coast, I think he's a nice player and would add good depth. It seems like the trend is to have 2 no.1 quality RBs on the roster. I think it would be a good sign. Also, I have to ask the question...how can a guy who's always at the top in yardage and just set the record for rushing TDs be overrated??? His stock takes a little hit this year with the loss of Hutch, but up until this year he has been underrated because of guys like LT and Priest. -
Sorry about the typing on that post...I quit the class in High School for another study hall. Apparently a bad idea!

All excellent points, especially that Jauron did pick Garcie over Joey. One thing I contend is that, although ther is a ton of receiver talent, they have had trouble staying on the field (injuries and substance abuse). The running game suffered last year, but that was probably because teams didn't think either QB could beat them. I guess my curiosity stems from being in Oregon during his senior year and buying the hype...

If only we never traded to draft JP...

Take it easy...this whole forum is built on what-ifs to generate discussion. If you don't like the topic, don't read it. -
My problem with that is we would then have 2 young QB prospects that aren't ready to start in the NFL. Holcomb isn't a guy who would groom them into starters, so you would have a bunch of guys who need alot of help.

Maybe what this team needs is.....

I agree with everything you said except for one...we are generally heart-broken well before the end of the season! -
Point taken. I still wonder what he could do with a solid offensive line and some receivers that aren't snapping bones like twigs and shooting illegal substances.
-
I understand your position, but it's about the 4th mention I've seen this morning about Jim Kelly. He's retired and not playing for the Bills and there will never be another Jim Kelly. He, Marino, Montana, and a bunch of guys from that era were cut from a different mold. There are few if any guys like that anymore. These guys are just not as tough anymore or don't want to risk their earning potential by playing hurt. We have to deal with what's available today.
-
I agree about the state of mind. I saw quite a few games the last couple of years and you can see the panic. He expected to get blasted on every play...which often happened. If they could get him fairly cheap, it may be worth it...especially if the Bills shore up the O-line. I've heard talk on the board of drafting another QB this year if one of the 3 slip down. I think that's a bad idea at this point, because he's not going to come in and compete right away. So then you 2 projects in the new QB and JP...you're no fartehr ahead.
-
What about bringing in Joey to compete for a QB position after he is released? I don't think any QB is in a position to succeed with Millen calling the shots and driving that bus right off the cliff! I think he still has great potential and needs to be in a new environment. Just a thought to open up some dialog...

JAX is a logical choice. As we all know, Edge loves FLA......and Fragile Freddie sucks!!
-
This is Detroit...no matter who wins it's going to burn!
-
We all know Edge is a great RB, but it's no secret that he has never liked Indy...he hates the city and the weather. This is his best opportunity to get out of town so he is starting the "they don'y want me back" and "I'm under appreciated" crap early. He is burning the bridge before they can begin negotiations. Also, maybe the reason Indy hasn't said anything is because they are sick of the rumors that Edge is leaving everytime a RB job opens in a warm market. Polian has done a good job up to this point, so I think he probably has a plan.

Are you some kind of mind reader???
