Big Ben isn't as big of a scumbag as you thought

So we are too blame feminists because Ben forced himself on a woman, and his paid muscle helped? And somehow calling him out on that is an assault on our collective manhood? I'm sorry but your manhood is pretty dissolute already if you think that being a man involves the right to drunk woman's bodies in restrooms while your buddies make sure thre are no witnesses. kj -
Two very enlightening breakdowns of the Jets-Bills in 2011. The first shows how the Jets schemed to confuse Fitzpatrick, and then how Chan adjusted in the (much better) 2nd game. http://www.buffaloru...yan-fitzpatrick http://www.buffaloru...versus-rex-ryan Didn't see these posted. Most of the football media focuses on personalities or story lines that really don't reveal much about the game--Don Banks is among the worst: "I have a feeling that so-and-so is going to have a big year, based on the steely look in his eyes" or some such blather. So I really appreciate this kind of breakdown. The chess match should be fun this weekend. kj

My favorite bit: That is a great thing to read from a player on your football team right there. So Shark vs. Jets in 6 days. West Side Story all over again. kj

Mario apologized to Nelson for falling on his leg

Underneath each Cheerio is a tiny, flattened Tom Brady image. Yum. -
A minor thing, but pretty cool, from Don Banks' column. The reason Nelson missed camp time was that Mario fell on him: http://sportsillustr...l?sct=nfl_t2_a8 kj

John Potter - Why a kick-off specialist makes sense

Hey, new guy brought charts and facts and stuff. -
ESPN trade idea? Yes, I would trade ESPN. For Nickelodeon, QVC, and a televangelist to be named later. kj

I agree with you on Reid, but more importantly I applaud your use of the Wall's tag function. Best tag to date. kj

Annoying "NFLSpeak". Mine is "no question".

In space, no one can hear you scream "I'm open." All the draft-related language cracks me up: natural athlete (he doesn't know the game), high-motor (Ryan Denney clone), intangibles (the analyst has unexamined feelings). Basically anything that Kiper uses to sound like he knows what he is talking about, all the phrases that only have meeting for a few weeks in the spring. Plus anything that Dan Dierdorf ever said. kj -
Isn't there a connection if not a correlation between bad tackling form and higher risk play (in terms of player health and safety)? Antoine Winfield's tackling was always textbook perfect (aside: what a player he was!), very effective, and came without the shots to the head that we see too often downfield. So could the lack of practicing with hits have a negative effect on player safety, instead of a positive? (Fact-free speculation as awlays) kj

I don't mind Kelso at all. I listen much more than I watch, and I find him to be informative. His pronunciation and diction is a hurdle as a listener, but once you get past his mushy mouthed tendencies, he tells you what is going on. I enjoy listening to them do games. Sorry for going off topic. kj

Would like to see artmalibu edit this post now that Merriman is gone.
-
When I saw the topic, I thought for sure this had to be a joke: "Bills release Merriman... a new Merriman video interview, that is" or something like that. Stunned, not because I was sure I knew something but because there were no whisperings of this coming. kj

A 75 yard punt by Moorman?! Wow it would take me four punts to go that far

Chan disagrees. Too strong: Chan is leaning in a different direction than you. The more I read the quote the more I see Chan hedging. Well, he said some good things about Hagan; let's leave it at that. (And now I am hedging, too.) http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Transcripts-HC-Gailey-QB-Fitzpatrick-WR-Hagan--RB-Brown/66c711a8-30bd-4552-89b6-4f4b6ebff0a3 kj

Actually more in the offseason than during the season, or closer than it should be, because I am either starved for Bills related talk (no matter how tangential it gets in May around here) or I am disgusted with the way the season progresses and try to tune out as I start to calculate how much of my time is invested in following this team. kj

Pat Kirwan's 5 Questions from Bills Camp
l< j replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that really true? What if he isn't the clearcut starter? kj -
The NFL looked into the Bills and Washington, and couldn't find any reason to make Drew Brees cry, so they dropped the matter. from SI kj

When I read the topic, I thought Vegas was posting odds on franchise relocations! Phew. kj
-
Yeah, that Rochester Democrat article from the front page made it sound like he's done. I don't think the team can count on him for anything. Hate to see him go out like that. kj

Holdout is not gonna help that team. But would his presence? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/football/nfl/07/27/ryan-tannehill-training-camp.ap/index.html kj

More details from the Cleveland paper, including the unconditional guarantee that they wouldn't move: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2012/07/cleveland_browns_owner_randy_l_3.html Also, the city just approved 5million + in maintenance for the stadium in the winter, beyond the half million they fund every year. Now the sin tax that funded the stadium and maintenance is expiring in the next few years. I don't know if Lerner felt it wasn't going to be a great deal moving forward (the Browns have a real sweetheart deal with the city-owned stadium) and he wanted to extract his stake before that tax ended. He was criticized in Ohio for being too removed from the team, not really a fan (like Trent Edwards, I guess.)

David Nelson speaks about team divisiveness in 2010
l< j replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are people dumping on Nelson here and not Wilson? Why is what Nelson said bad and Wilson okay? Wilson's comments are only somewhat less specific, but amount to the same thing. kj -

Bills players (including TEs and RBs, cuz I am a little lazy) who caught a pass in the 2010 season, with underlines for those who are gone: Steve Johnson Lee Evans Roscoe Parrish Fred Jackson David Nelson C.J. Spiller Donald Jones Jonathan Stupar Naaman Roosevelt David Martin Corey McIntyre Shawn Nelson Quinton Ganther Scott Chandler Paul Hubbard Marshawn Lynch
