  1. Is there a difference between RG and LG the way there is for tackles? (Yeah, my football Xs and Os is limited.) kj
  2. He looks good, but he's no Kyle Orton. kj
  3. Which is a much harder and lower-percentage throw with a DL bearing down on the QB then the one he completed, which was a very high percentage throw, if the decision was made quick. Move the chains. kj
  4. The helmet just makes it harder for Hughes to eat the ball carrier.
  5. Yep. Classic.
  6. Sounds like potential tax fraud with his foundation in addition to the other bad stuff.
  7. With the PED issues, he clearly knows the Patri*ts system well. He'll mesh well there.
  8. Interesting question. The google tells me that it would be a penalty if the OL ever disengaged from the defensive player. Sounds like if the guard wasn't running free he was okay, and your description sounds like he just drove the guy back straight from the time of the snap. It pains me to say this, but it sounds like that was legit. I'm going to give that an asterisk anyway, since it's a fairly rare event for the P*ts to be playing within the rules. * kj
  9. You mean after 5 games we have given up more yards than Miami and Oakland have after 4 games? Or Seattle that will only play its 4th game tonight? Shocking. Fire Schwartz now! Most of the teams at the top of that ranking have already had their bye week.
  10. Last week we were talking about the make-able plays that EJ left on the table, either with poor throws or poor decision making (timidity and/or bad reads; afraid to make a throw or didn't see a throw that was there). The All-22 analyses seemed to bear that out. I think there was near-consensus on that point. So did Orton leave any or many plays on the table? He was definitely more decisive. My guess is he was also better and probably much better at seeing the open or coming open receivers. Open question, no agenda. kj
  11. At this point, over 1 yard per carry might be called a breakout game. I have no idea what is wrong with his game, but something is wrong. kj
  12. He's a beast. A beast who is in shape. He's our beast. Cut him. That's pretty amazing. I am very interested to see the All-22 write-ups this week to see how they got so much pressure without blitzing. kj
  13. Good points, but whose isn't when facing Detroit?
  14. Yes, something conservative, which will be appropriate when leading 21-0. (KO return on opening TD, fumble recovery for TD on 1st Lions drive, and a fumble recovery for TD on the ensuing KO.) kj
  15. Once they run the wires to One Bills Drive, can they get a search function at Two Bills Drive? That would be helpful, I bet. kj
  16. First picture we've seen of him not taken at a party. kj
  17. I'd be curious to hear what people here who know OL play (not me!) thought of our rookie guard. Obviously (channeling St. Doug) there were struggles individually and breakdowns as a unit. But is he showing promise? Showing technical deficiencies? kj
  18. I'm pretty sure Kyle Orton goes to more parties than Jauronimo. While his parties lack in quality, they close the gap in quantity. It's just like the Bills running game, another reason why it's the perfect team for him. kj
  19. Awaiting results of 2 MRIs before I weigh in. kj
  20. Find 7 more likely wins: 10/05 @ Detroit Lions 10/12 New England Patriots 10/19 Minnesota Vikings 10/26 @ New York Jets 11/09 Kansas City Chiefs 11/13 @ Miami Dolphins 11/23 New York Jets 11/30 Cleveland Browns 12/07 @ Denver Broncos 12/14 Green Bay Packers 12/21 @ Oakland Raiders 12/28 @ New England Patriots Oakland is 1. We have 5 division games left, and this defense (assuming that the injuries suffered Sunday don't change the lineup) gives me hope for 3 or maybe even 4. Green Bay, Denver, KC, and Detroit are unlikely. Before the season, I thought the Browns would be bad, but they are playing tough and staying in or winning games I'd thought they wouldn't. And I don't know what to think about Vikings. Of course, the league is so unpredictable. No team is the same in November that it was in September. It should be an interesting ride. If we can get competent QB play (meaning the OL keeps him upright and the OC has a decent scheme so that the QB has a chance to impact the game), we have a chance--neither particularly strong or weak chance--to get to 9 wins. kj
  21. When Fitz was here--ah, the glory days!--we had a QB with significant limitations who made his o-line play better than their talent level. Chan's scheming obviously were a big piece there. Now we have a QB whose limitations are making everyone around him worse than their talent level. Not sure that Hackett isn't also making everyone worse, too. Until yesterday, I was in the 'we don't know what we have in EJ yet' camp. But I think we saw enough to know that we don't have an NFL QB, let alone a QB able to carry the team to the playoffs, in EJ. Same as it ever was. kj
  22. Well someone has to do it. Kill the coaches, that is.
