  1. A mentally healthy TE is what we need. The panic stricken check down artist we see today will never get us to 9-7 or 10-6. We have lost at home to two of the worst teams in the league, I assume no game is a sure win right now. As for the supposed injury, why not retape it, give it a try for the team. He was not sitting on the sidelines, did not appear to be in pain. It's a tough violent game. I am sure Rothlesberger's teammates think the world of him for playing thu a seperated shoulder. How about Rivers in SD playing with a torn up knee in last year's playoff? A strained groin with a playoff spot on the line and Edwards can't go? I don't get it. Either he was benched or is not much of a leader.
  2. I am all for it. Put April in charge for a test drive. Obviously, the team is not responding to its present leadership.
  3. I dunno, maybe the fact that he has won 150 games in the league versus our current coach with a 35% career winning percentage. I hardly blame Marty for fumbles by his runners as they are heading in for game winning scores in Cleveland's playoff games. He led SD to its best season in 30 years and lost to a team that won 3 rings in 5 years. Ralph would never pay him anyway.
  4. I would love to have Marty at this point. I don't see Jauron turning this around. Poor time manangement, poor kicking game decisons, zero charisma, etc.
  5. Stroud has been more than "average at best" in my opinion. Some games like Seattle, Jax and Cleve he has been a force. Perhaps you have forgotten the run defense from 2007. Throw in a tape of last year's Giants game and watch Bradshaw go up the middle repeatedly. Stroud has made a difference. Another important factor is Jenkins injury history. He played very little the last few years due to a back injury. Stoud was hurt last year as well but not with a recurring career threatening injury like Jenkins back issue.
  6. My guesses: Bruce Smith = Lock Rod Woodson = Lock Next level Derrick Thomas = Was one of his era's Superstars, teams had to gameplan away from him Cris Carter = Hard to ignore 1,000 catches, almost made it last year Could make a good argument Charles Haley - Five rings, great pass rusher Andre Reed - underrated outside Buffalo despite his numbers Cortez Kennedy - was a great player Others: Shannon Sharpe - a glorifed WR in my opinion, good player but gets a lot of love for the position he played where his numbers look flashy but was he really a TE Tagliague- have read in the past that none of the writers vote him too high - wish they had a seperate category for him so players aren't left out Russ Grimm; I never understood why Joe Jacoby got less attention, he was the star of that OL Kuchenburg; Dr. Z pushes for him all the time, Langer and Little are already in, do we need 3 guys from one interior OL in the hall
  7. I cannot get over the feeling that we got exactly what we paid for with Jauron. We paid cheap for a coach that was not in the running for any head coaching job and he has met his capabilities which are mediocre at best. I was embarrassed for Edwards the way he was being disected on tv. Basically, he panics and cannot make decisions; not good for a QB. The first play of the game he starred down the receiver and threw it at Shawn Rogers as he is being blocked by 2 guys with a third standing there watching. The announcers said you can't blame that one on Edwards, well he had plenty of space to avoid Rogers. Lynch was the main reason we were in the game at all. He made something out of nothing countless times. What an effort! Lost in my disbelief that we settled for a 47 yard fg when we had 1rst down with over a minute left and a timeout, was my disbelief that Reggie Corner whiffed on a sack attempt that would have put Cleveland in a deep hole. At least get a shoulder on him Reggie!!!! Not one toss to Lee Evans against one of the lowest ranked pass defenses in the league. Props to Mitchell, Stroud and McGee. All were big time last night. McKelvin is not a bust. He played some good corner last night as well as good kick returning. Cub fans have nothing on us!!!
  8. Steve Pig and Ox Roast is a winner. Right off the 219. Jacoby's is great for pizza and wings, it's right around the corner from Steve's.
  9. We had some stretches where we ran the ball well on first down, Edwards was sacked twice, once on a second and five and once on 2 and 3. He threw his 4th Q int after Lynch had gained 20 yards on 3 consecutive carries. Drives killed by sacks, ints and third and 1 swing passes. I looked at NE's last 4 games and they gave up yards per pass to Indy was 8.8, Rams 7.1 and SD was 11.3 per pass play. Yesterday we were 4.3 yards per pass play. Basically, dink and dunks; checkdowns. 3 plays over 10 yards, one was a run after catch by Roscoe and one was the TD to Hardy with the game all but over. Bad blocking, no seperation, bad throws, bad play calling and bad preparation for what NE would try to take away all contribute to this loss.
  10. We actually had some stretches where we ran the ball well on first down, Edwards was sacked twice, once on a second and five and once on 2 and 3. He threw his 4th Q int after Lynch had gained 20 yards on 3 consecutive carries. Drives killed by sacks, ints and third and 1 swing passes. NE has had a good run defense which isn't surprising considering their big front 4 and run stopping lb's. I looked at NE's last 4 games and the yards per pass play stat is where we stink. Indy was 8.8, Rams 7.1 and SD was 11.3 per pass play.
  11. Not a bad idea. We seem very predictable right now.
  12. No pass rush, cover 2 giving the underneath stuff. Move the sticks. Wash rinse repeat
  13. Belichek must laugh when he plays against Jauron. Buffalo comes out and plays cover 2, rushes 4 and gives up the underneath stuff all day. Pretty much gives Cassell exactly what he is capable of. Terrible tackling, no pass rush, occasional blitzers always get picked up. A nine minute drive to finish the game. A weak effort all around. I think our LB and cb play so far off the ball, it probably telegraphs the blitz when they get close as our guys get blocked every time. No red flag on Welker's catch was pathetic. They showed it 3 times.
  14. Jauron appears satisfied to say we only lost by 10 rather than try to take any risks and win the game.
  15. 3 and 1 Pass????????? The gameplan is pretty gutless today.
  16. I like it, he certainly can pass block. We'll see on the run game.
  17. They have shown glimpses of talent. Hardy will be fine once he learns how to use that big body to ward off defenders. His touchdown catch against Jax in a clutch situation was not a fluke. He went high snagged the ball and danced both feet down with a defender in his shirt to win a game on the road. He started off Arizona with two good catches and has disappeared since. I would not call him a bust just yet. Evans, Moulds and many others were slow out of the box. McKelvin has shown flashes as a returner. He has some bright moments with more than one 40+ yard return and a lot of mediocre returns. Following the all pro McGee creates high expectations, I think McKelvin breaks one before long. As a coverage guy, he is not ready as soon as one would expect from a #11 pick but he is not terrible. Let's see what he can do the second half of the season before we bury him. Ellis is definitely a concern as this is a problem area. I imagine he is weak against the run which makes it tough to use him in Fewell's cover 2. Maybe use him as a standup rusher as a linebacker off the edge. Anything would be an improvement.
  18. Turnovers are needed to win on the road. We stop giving the ball away and we can beat this team.
  19. I wonder the same thing keepthefaith. Seems like they always drop 8 at the right time. Blowing up the center of the line doesn't help the run but it does seem like we are easy to figure out. it's a copy cat league and I am sure Belechek will employ some of the same looks this week until the Bills show they can stop it.
  20. Kota nailed it. He is always coming to a stop on patterns. To his defense, Trent has not been that accurate in throwing to him.
  21. Best post I have read about yesterday's debacle. Hard to believe we were still in this game at the end. Its important to remember a couple things: - It is always hard to win on the road in the NFL... a basic formula is to win at home and split on the road to get to 12-4 - which usually means a home playoff game - Everyone in the division has one divisional loss. The Bills and Pats have both lost to Miami - and the Pats already lost to Miami at home, that puts us a nose ahead of the Pats in my book. - Considering all of the boneheaded mistakes the Bills made in this game: not scoring a TD on 1st and goal from the 5, snapping the ball over the punter's head into the end zone, fumbling on a QB sneak after getting a first down, giving up a safety on a three-man rush, and finally fumbling after converting a third-and-twenty - its actually kind of amazing how much into this game we really were.
