  1. I sure hope the blocking schemes are looked into. Watching the all-22 clips, it amazed me how many times Eric Wood looked in the opposite direction to help Richardson against #96 while the best defensive player in the league JJ Watt was running by Pears into the backfield. If this was predetermined in the gameplan, no wonder we lost. Also, any play that depends on Chandler being the key blocker needs to be scrapped. He has proven he cannot hold a block yet we had him one on one with Watt a couple of times and ran that way.
  2. The Marrone/Hackett offense at SU always pounded the middle with a big back whether it was there or not. Inevitabley, the holes were larger at the end of the game. Mot sure this theory works in the pro game. I agree CJ misses holes to the middle as he is always looking to bust it to the sidelines. if he ever cut left he could make some yards.
  3. Let's get a game against the Jets and Pats under our belts. Those teams have bullied us before. Let's see how that goes first.
  4. I think that interpretation of Ralph's intentions is fabulous.
  5. Mike Williams made a great block on Fred's big run in OT.
  6. I am more concerned about the lack of pressure generated on the play. And it was a nice throw by a big league QB. Gilmore will be fine.
  7. I think the kid looks confused more than anything. He needs more time than we hoped for a second rounder. Looking at youtube clips, his feet were not that slow at Bama. Watching him run block, he is dominant. I doubt the Bills give up on him. This kid is not Ed Spriggs or Jerry Crafts, the upside is worth waiting out.
  8. Chandler really does struggle to block. Richardson will eventually start but he does get beat pass blocking as evidenced last night. Might not be ready yet.
  9. Brown also carries it in the wrong hand a lot. Explosive talent though.
  10. Let's not forget Mr. Blindside Jerry Crafts.
  11. The forgotten man in the Sammy hoopla is Robert Woods. EJ found him a lot hen both were on the field. He is going to step up in year 2. Lotta weapons for EJ.
  12. Thurman is a great ambassador for the team.
  13. I would be content with Stephon Tuitt, Cyrus Kouandijo, ASJ or Troy Niklas.. All good players.
  14. Thurman is a true friend when #12 needs one. Good for him.
  15. The attached article shows a breakdown of a few receivers. Watkins catches a lot of screens which is either good or bad depending on how you view that play. I don't think they work as well in pros as college or in the red zone. http://thejetpress.com/2014/01/30/new-york-jets-nfl-draft-sammy-watkins-marqise-lee-kelvin-benjamin-mike-evans-jordan-matthews/
  16. You don't need five #1 picks. Look at the Pats. They are a group of non-elite talents that is the most talented line in football. Mankins, Vollmer and Solder were all top 40 picks. Marcus Cannon only dropped due to his cancer diagnosis. Pats also hold on most plays.
  17. I think improved blocking would help CJ but I do wonder if he fits Marrone's thinking. He used a between the tackles run game at Syracuse. Mason from Auburn is the best back in the draft, should go in top 50 picks, doubt we would pick him that high.
  18. He got almost the exact money that they signed Urbik. He must be expected to start.
  19. Eagles sign S Malcolm Jenkins
  20. Schwarz was a jeff Fisher disciple who played for and coached with Buddy Ryan. Might be Marrone wants to keep with the 46 defense coaching tree.
  21. Spags would be an interesting candidate. Jim Schwarz had great D's in Tenn. Mike SIngletary is out there. Ed Orgeron, ex-USC HC has connections to Marrone. All agressive type coaches.
  22. I agree with Bill from NYC's take. The Bills were embarrassed by a weak Tampa team due to the weakness in the middle of the offensive line. Any quarterback need to be able to take a step to be effective. EJ Manuel will be more effective with fewer defenders at his feet as he throws. For all the clamoring of drafting a WR, TE or one of the top QB's, it will not make a difference in the team's performance if no pocket exists. Watching SD run on Cinci and the play of SF's line at GB shows how to win in cold weather. Pears- Did Ok, Harrison was pretty good when on field in the past Urbik- was strong in early part of year, injury may have hampered him Wood- Good player Legursky- back up forced to start Glenn- A star in the making I am all for taking a second round OG or a starter level UFA - No more stop gaps. Gabe Jackson or Cyril Richardson would be nice adds. First pick leaves a lot of possibilities: If Michigan OT Lewan is sitting there, he will be hard to ignore. Fixing offensive line helps CJ Spiller as well. A better offensive line keeps the defense better rested.
  23. Andre Reed was the best player on the field for the biggest comeback in playoff history against the Oilers. Was not a quitter that day!
  24. A number 1 receiving target. While it might be Wood with some experience and a healthy QB, we need one of those great talents to compliment or outperform him. Stevie Johnson gets nicked a lot and does not dominate games.
