OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: BILLS v. 'PHINS 10/4/2009
DrFishfinder replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly don't know what's going on in that 92 year old mind of his. Perhaps he doesn't either. Hell, he could bring in Lisa Lampanelli for all we know. -

A few years back, we made Sage Rosenfels look like the 2nd coming of Brett Favre. We are making the Dolphins look like a 3-0 team right now. And the defense is gassed already. Not even half time. -

Can't really take issue with that. Wonder who the next head coaching schlub will be? -

Exactamundo. Edwards has become Dickie the J in pads. -

Beautiful drop by Marshawn on another lazer from Captain Checkdown. Who just threw a beautiful pass into the 30 yard line. -

The Bills have a bunch of injuries, but the coaching staff has this team more ready for the trip home than the game. -

Actually, they're not stopping him. I think they've coached him into wussiness. Playing "not to lose" virtually ensures you will accomplish what you are trying to avoid. -

The defense looks gassed already. No QB pressure. Sloppy tackling. Getting schooled with end arounds. What's next.....the Statue of Liberty? -

How about getting him a HC and OC who aren't afraid to let him? At least that would be a start. Not standing up for TE here, but look at the coaching disaster he's played, and still plays, under? Geezus....this coaching staff would ruin Peyton Manning. -

Has a head coach ever been fired in the middle of a game? -
I move that anyone starting a "JP anything" post be summarily banned for life on TSW, have their car crushed, sports channels canceled, be forced to burn all of their Bills memorabilia, and sent over Niagara Falls in a Las Vegas Locomotives body bag. Anyone second?

if we lose to miami does jauron get fired?
DrFishfinder replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt that April will be promoted to HC. Just a gut feeling. Ralph will most likely go outside the club and get someone who is "intelligent" and has some credentials. He should wait until the season is over and see what current HC's are available. I wouldn't count out Del Rio or Zorn. -

Can Ralph wait out the season? Yes. Will he? Almost certainly. Without a new HC to put in (and who is going to take over in the middle of the season?), plus having to pay Jauron anyway, why would Ralph do it? Doesn't make $en$e. -
My biggest worry is that at least with Pennington, Jauron & Fewell "presumably" knew what to expect (leaving the wildcat out for this discussion). Pennington wasn't going to go long more than a couple of times, not mobile, easy to bring down, etc. Henne represents an unknown and DJ & PF don't know exactly what to expect. Could be lots of short slants & posts, bombs away, wildcat all day long....who knows? He's a bigger, more mobile player than Pennington, and with a much bigger arm. I don't think Fewell does a particularly good job of adjusting the defense against QB's he knows. This one he doesn't. Henne could keep the defense off balance all day long. I don't think he's going to be easy to bring down, so if the Bills blitz, they had better go for the kill. I dunno....this makes me very uneasy.

Inexplicable ain't the half of it. And it is true. Jauron's career average in 8 seasons is 7-9.

When will there be an attack on Iran?
DrFishfinder replied to Magox's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The biggest difference may be that Iran seems to be perfectly willing to be attacked more than Israel is willing to actually attack. I think Iran is counting on an Israeli attack to galvanize other Islamic countries, as well as Russia and possibly China & North Korea behind it. It seems likely that Iran would sacrifice hundreds, if not thousands of civilians to that end. Westerners in general, and Americans in particular, do not understand that frame of mind. -
Trent Edwards - Where do you stand?
DrFishfinder replied to MURTR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Finally.... the voice of reason emerges. Thank you! Half the time Gruden looks like he's thinking about giving Jaworski a wedgie. -
Trent Edwards - Where do you stand?
DrFishfinder replied to MURTR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Edwards has taken on the personality of Dick Jauron by osmosis. Play low-risk, not-to-lose football. Take only what the opponent gives you. Don't gamble, don't take risks, play the percentages. What remains to be seen: If (when) the Bills bring in a new head coach (and possibly OC), will he be able to re-ignite Edwards or is it too late to undo the damage? Is there any chance that AVP will open up the offense, or would Jauron insist on the same conservative play calling? -
To all the Doom & Gloomers out there
DrFishfinder replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, there is a possibility that the Bills could end up with a worse record than the Lions this season. I hope not, but it is certainly a possibility given DJ's team's collapse in game one, beating an awful team in game two and finding a way to get plowed under by Pierre Thomas in game three. Jauron has won 2, count 'em....2 games against teams with winning records in 3 years at Buffalo. It ain't over, but if Miami wins this Sunday, look out. -
No, I didn't say all of that. Trent is okay with short to mid range passes 25 yards and under. His long ball, from what little I've seen of them, is simply not accurate. Not that he's had a lot of time to set up and throw, mind you. He tends to wait until a receiver GETS open-then throw, rather than throw to the place the receiver should BE. That's not just me talking, sports writers have brought up that point as well.

Pennington expected to be out for the season
DrFishfinder replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That pretty much heralds Henne's coming out party next week. If the heat and humidity don't do the Bills in, Henne and the wildcat will. It's gonna be a long week, next week. -
TE's long ball accuracy is not there. His only hope is to heave one as far as he can and hope the WR runs into it.
