I don't think he's going to be a bust the way Maybin's 1st year was, but it is possible that CJ ends up more like Roscoe Parrish than Chris Johnson. That's not a very popular view right now, but with all due respect, that is certainly a possibility. I would doubt that he'll be even in the top 10 backs this year. Jackson and Lynch will get the lion's share of the workload so he won't be on the field all that much.
Ostensibly, his value lies more in breaking big plays than in being a 1,500 yard 25-30 carries/game workhorse.
