Garrard would be interesting. Good arm, great character and very difficult to bring down.

Still a QB situation in Buffalo?
DrFishfinder replied to SWVABillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I'm not going to say a word about JP, but TE played well the first 4 games or so (90%+ QB rating). The raging question is, what happened after that and why? I don't have the answers, but the Bills staff is on the hot seat to get that figured out and corrected for next season. One would assume that Ralph has the GM and coaching staff on a very short leash. -
Why Ralph will spend big on Free agents this year
DrFishfinder replied to Pozitive51's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to be sarcastic here, but you're assuming that Ralph is following your line of reasoning. At this point, it would appear as though Ralph believes Jauron, at least, is competent enough to keep. If that's the case, then he may very well believe that a few key players are the proverbial missing pieces of the puzzle. Not the GM and coaching staff. We shall see..... -

Your last point deals with motivation and is a good one. I would like to see more motivation on this team. And that springs from the HC as well. -

I hope you're right, but I suspect history is going to repeat itself, yet again. -

I tend to agree with you. Unless the Bills grab a vet QB in FA, Hamdan is the new #2 and no one really knows what to expect from him under fire. Chances are better than 50/50 that the #2 guy will be in for a couple of games next year. The Bills are still going to have to go out and get another QB, either as a backup for Edwards or as a #3 if they think Hamdan can handle #2. Evans got double teamed up the wazoo and apart from Reed being the 3rd down target, the receivers weren't all that much of a factor in the 2nd half of the season. I don't see much reason for that to change, unless the Bills go after a big time FA WR. Even if they do, the HC and OC will still be the same. We were told that the offense would be more "wide open" last season. Looked more like "baffling" to me, at least down the stretch. Unless Jauron pulls off a miracle next year, the Bills will have a new HC somewhere between mid season and the end, and then...... -

Not to beat an already dead and beaten horse here.....but do you honestly think that Jauron is capable of leading this team into the playoffs, even with FA acquisitions? -
Trent Edwards interview with Mike Francesa
DrFishfinder replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Helluva good point. Some forget that Kelly thumbed his nose at the Bills when they drafted him in 1983 and went to the Houston Gamblers of the USFL, instead. It wasn't until the USFL folded that he came to the Bills in 1986. If I remember correctly, he said something along the lines of, "I would rather work at McDonalds than play in Buffalo" or words to that effect. Now look at Kelly and what he does for and means to the Buffalo area. If Trent has a big year and can QB the Bills into the playoffs, the western NY area and fans will get behind him and support him like they did with Kelly and Flutie. Lord knows the fans are starving for something to support. That being said, Trent is a California guy (born, raised, school, college) and will probably always feel that's where his roots (and family) are. -

I don't mean to butt in here, but don't you think that team stability pretty much eminates from the HC? And the fact that the players like him speaks more of the way he treats them than his abilities and skills as a HC. I've had bosses I've liked in the past, but they weren't particularly good at what they did. -
Geez....who hit you with a smartass baloon?

Both Wade and Eric's teams collapsed badly, costing both playoff appearances. Wade is still at Dallas (snd lucky to have his job considering who his boss is), but he's hanging by the thinnest of threads. Mangini got bounced out of NY, and was lucky he landed in Cleveland instead of Detroit. In terms of collapses, Wade is right behind DJ and could be closing fast next year. Wade looks just as clueless now as he did back in Buffalo. Just .......lost. I bet Zorn becomes a pretty good coach. Just a hunch. Norv......What can you say except, "The Curse of Norv". It follows him like a shadow. -
Nope. I never understood the concept from a fan's point of view. I want to see two real NFL teams play. Not glorified flag football. My football season is over after the SB. But that's just me.

JP a good fit for the Jets

Exactamundo. He might have time to brush up on his quantum physics, as SJBF pointed out. -

Can't really disagree with you there. It's more Murphy's Law of the Buffalo Bills than anything else. -
What could Ralph have done after the extension was announced and the nose dive began? The extension looked like the correct thing to do at that point. No one forsaw the horrific tanking that started next game, as if on cue. I think that anything Ralph would have said at that point would have incited the fans even further. "Heckuva job Brownie" comes to mind. In retrospect, Ralph would have been better off waiting until the end of the season before he made any public statement regarding DJ's contract status. Who knows....Jauron might have been fired on 12/28/08.

Be careful.....if JP went to the Jets AND had time to throw (Lord knows the Bills don't get phfft pressure on QB's), he just might, actually look like a quarterback. -
Sorry....that line was probably from back in biblical times when the Jauronites almost destroyed civilization as we know it.

I wish I could honestly share your optimism, but with Jauron driving the bus, history indicates another <= .500 season. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

A solid, motivational HC, a bona fide pass rush and someone (TE or WR) to take the heat off Evans would do wonders for this team. That's assuming that Edwards returns to being the same QB he was during the early part of the season. The biggest problem IMO is the HC. Good HC's will make the absolute best out of what they've got. They will either design schemes around the player's strengths or get the players necessary for specific schemes. Jauron doesn't seem to be able to do either one effectively. It is extremely doubtful that Ralph is going to "go back to the drawing board again" at this stage. You may see Jauron gone by mid season if the Bills tank at 1-7 or 2-6. You will undoubtedly see Jauron gone if the Bills end up with another <= .500 season. The $1,000,000 question is, who will (or who will want to be) the replacement? Ralph is unlikely to shell out Cowher type money so it would probably be an AHC, OC or DC who would jump at the chance for a HC job for a fairly low salary. Other than a FA deal or two and whatever the Bills Brain Trust decides to go after in the draft, I don't think you will see much more activity than that, next season.
-
Bona fide pass rushing DE. We get very little pressure on opposing QB's and there is apparently no one capable of helping Schobel. WR to take the heat and double coverage off Evans. We have very little downfield passing assuming Edwards is capable of throwing downfield. And of course, a coaching staff that doesn't blunder the time clock and games away.

Max....five games. Looking at the schedule makes me wanna put on a helmet and dig a fox hole.

Didn't This Board Hate Wilson a Few Weeks Ago?

Got a life, and a pretty good one at that.... thankyewverymuch. Didn't actually call you a joke but I did actually call you a genious. What, genious isn't good enough for you? You're so full of rage and hate and venom, it's disturbing. Hmm....in retrospect, I probably should have called you "disturbed" instead of genious. My apologies. NGTFA -
Is our offensive line to big?????
DrFishfinder replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe not motivated enough? I think that is one very important thing missing from too many players on the team. -
Who are the battery counts against? It's possible that this is more of a domestic issue than against women in general. I'm not asking this to downplay the seriousness, only to see if this is an issue between him and a specific female. If that is the case, that may ease your fears a bit. I would suggest that you call your local PD and inform them of the situation so they can be aware of the circumstances and hopefully respond as an emergency if you, your wife or daughter call. If your neighborhood has a Neighborhood Crime Watch group, make them aware of it as well. I wish you and your family all the best.
