tim tebow will win super bowl
DrFishfinder replied to jax bill backer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't listen the rest of these doinks. I'm not so sure I would guarantee a SB win, but I will say this; I would take TT over any QB Buffalo has drafted since Jimbo. And while we're reminiscing about Kelly, don't forget that My Yami was one of the few universities that was willing to give him a shot at QB....most other universities had him shoehorned as a LB. I let history prove otherwise. I'm witcha.....get TT next year! -

All RIGHT. I am going to reply to you this once, and then as far as I am concerned, this is a closed subject. I never said any of my statements were a "tell all", nor did I state that sacks were "BLACK AND WHITE" in determining that the OL was better at protecting the QB. Stop misquoting me. If the offense threw the ball 9 less times in the last 8 games, that is a minuscule amount. That's 1 quarter of play. Dropped passes to avoid the sack? What exactly is that? Yes, I watched every game. No team....NO TEAM stops defensive pressure. No team keeps their QB from being pressured. Show me a QB with 0 sacks. Show me a QB with no pressure. Every QB in the NFL has to throw under pressure. Roethlisberger throws with defensive players hanging all over him. Declining pass/yards has no direct correlation to the OL unless someone manipulates statistics to connect unrelated dots. I don't know about Preston and Fowler. Do you? Do you have some inside information that we are not aware of? Teams cut and don't resign players for a variety of reasons, each and every year. If you have inside information, please enlighten us. Yes, this is my opinion. I have mine, you have yours. I however, have not misquoted you. Smoe poepel perss the splel cehck buottn mkae smoe atetmpt at grmamar jsut out of cnosdriaotin for ohtres. No. I am addressing your run on statement: "2. So here we are two years after we signed dockery and walker to sure up our OL that we are in a potentially worse situation then we were then with our OL so that makes me wonder how long will trent stay healthy after being knocked on his back so much and how often are they going to be willing to throw it when they show they cannot blcok the pass rush. This is not specualtion either they couldnt stop the pass rush last season either." Buffalo's OL did a better job of picking up the pass rush in the 2nd half of the season. Opposing teams knew that Buffalo had virtually no offensive answer for strong pass rushing and especially blitzes. Everyone could see the OL was struggling early in the season and teams just pinned their ears back and came for blood. Sack tally was 23 at mid season. First 4 games of the season: 11 sacks. First 4 games of 2nd half of season: 5 sacks. Edwards threw a bunch of interceptions that had nothing to do with pressure. Pressure wasn't even at the stadium. QB's have to be able to function and make decisions and throw (or run), under pressure. There's not much any QB can do when a defensive player is planted on him, with only a very few exceptions. Edwards doesn't have the speed to escape and he doesn't have the size and strength to shake off sacks. Considering there were 8 fewer sacks in the 2nd half of a season that saw defenses blitzing practically the entire game, I say the OL improved in protecting the QB. I'm not debating the running game. No team "stops" the pass rush. The OL did a better job in the 2nd half of the season.

Burress in Buffalo right now??
DrFishfinder replied to mackey7789's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, he and his agents, Oprah Winfrey, Prince Charles and Lady Ga Ga, are negotiating with the Bills right now. -
You stop this right now, or Roger Godell will cancel the entire 2009-2010 season.

If you agree that a good motivator can bring out the very best in people, then I think you would also agree that DJ is most definitely NOT a good motivator. Look, some people are brilliant at what they do and are experts in their field, but are positively horrible motivators. You either are or you aren't. Jauron seems to be either unwilling or unable to do what is necessary to generate a positive impact on the Bills. Different reasons maybe, same results. You are right about last season. That was the time to rise to the occasion, especially after a 5-1 start. If there was a rake anywhere on the horizon, Jauron stepped on it. Maybe it was Fewell's defense giving up another 7 or 8 minute game killing drive, or maybe it was Schonert calling for consecutive pass plays inside the 20 when the running game just cranked off 80 yards. Either way, Jauron's in charge. The upcoming game schedule is suicidal, TO or not. I'm not convinced that Jauron and Schonert have any plan other than, "Throw the ball to TO". Miami and Atlanta had coaches that had very specific plans, analyzed their players and developed game plans around the player's strengths rather than pounding square pegs in round holes and stepping on rakes. Jauron seems to habitually keep doing the same things over and over again. If you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got. In this case, it's probably another 7-9 season.

If that is what you think, fine. But here are the facts regarding pass blocking: Buffalo QB Sack Count 2008 Games 1-8: 23 times Games 9-16: 15 times No time for stats, either?
-
1. THE weakest link in the Bills offense was WR. Specifically, it was another WR to take the double coverage off Evans. Sure, TO is part marketing. The NFL is a business and marketing is part of every business. The acquisition of TO addresses both issues. This is Jauron's last shot and he knows it regardless of whether you or I think he sees the light or not. If the Bills are 2-6 at mid season, don't be surprised if he gets replaced right then and there. If the Bills miss the playoffs, ditto. 2. After an admittedly bad start, the Bills OL finished up the 2nd half of the season doing a very respectable job of picking up the pass rush and blitzes. They still had problems opening holes for the running game, but really improved their pass blocking. There is always risk involved in replacing OL players. Give the spell checker a shot.
-
This was a no-brainer. For the Bills management to sit pat and do nothing to improve THE weakest link on offense would have incited fans to come to games with pitchforks and torches. Quite frankly, I'm surprised they actually had the cajones to go out and get Owens. Now they need to get a pass rusher, TE and resolve the continuing Peters saga.

I'd rather have Edwards than Cutler

I'll take Billy Joe Hobert over Kelly. Billy Joe didn't even need to read the frickin' playbook. -
Bills inquired about Jason Taylor
DrFishfinder replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even considering JT was injured last year, he wasn't anything remotely like the player he was in My Yami's defense. Whether he didn't fit in to Washington's defensive scheme or not, I can't say. But I don't think he's worth it at this stage of his career. He'd be another one-season gamble and NOT worth his asking price, IMO. Let him go back to My Yami for one season, retire and call it a career. He's a stand up guy and deserves to go out with class. -
He made a choice to drive while over the limit. The consequences will not be his choice.

Does Cutler have that Jimbo attitude we've been missing??
DrFishfinder replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone honestly think that Edwards is a better QB than Cutler? I certainly don't and I haven't heard any sportswriters say that either. But it isn't happening so fuggedaboudit. Cleveland or SF. Detroit has the draft picks to trade, but I don't think Cutler would go there. I could see Cleveland trading Brady and a pick or three to get Cutler. -
Both games we played against NE last year were close...
DrFishfinder replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is all textual speculation.....shoulda, woulda, coulda. Your assumption that if the Bills scored more points on offense the game would have been closer, is speculation that NE wouldn't have scored more points as well. Look, we all agree the Bills offense tanked for the majority of the 2nd half of the season last year. There is more than enough blame as well as speculation, to go around. -
If you were building a team, what defensive position
DrFishfinder replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pass rusher - no question. Without pressure on opposing QB's, there will be a repeat of last season. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. -

That particular disaster at the end of the season rests squarely on the shoulders of Dickie the J and Schonert. Absolutely putrid coaching and play calling. Most other teams in the league would have won that game. The good news is that Buffalo has another playmaker on offense. The bad news is that Dickie the J is still driving the bus. -

And if Buffalo's offense did score points. don't you think that NE's offense would have answered with even more points? NE scored 20 points or more in 9 of 16 games.....with Cassel. Even without Brady, NE beat Buffalo by a combined 23 points; a combined margin of 3 TD's-plus in just 2 games. It would have helped if Buffalo's offense could have scored more than 10 points in 2 games, granted. But I think you're sticking your head in the sand if you think that NE wouldn't have just come back with even more points. Hopefully, Buffalo's offense will be more productive this year. -

And some guy named Brady is back for NE. I heard he's got some talent. -

Some guy named Brady, maybe? How many points did we score in that last NE game? -
You forgot the third reason: The return of some guy named Brady. Is Buffalo's offense going to outplay NE defense? Unlikely, but possible. Is Buffalo's defense going to stop NE's offense? Not a chance. Not even a glimmer of a chance. Not a blowout (hopefully), but the Bills aren't up to the level of NE.
