Todd, you're the absolute pope of TBD... A holier, more sanctimonious and righteous poster cannot be found anywhere on this board... Good luck finding an actual player that lives up to your preposterous standards... I don't know the full story behind the Manziel domestic violence incident..... If he did smack the girl then SHAME ON HIM.... I'ts a despicable act committed by a very young human being... I wonder how deep the Browns organization delved into his character before drafting him 22nd overal in '14.... My guess is not very deep at all... And if the organization felt the act was so heinous... Then why not part ways the instant they confirmed it happened?

Manziel owns his fair share of issues... But he isn't the first girl-puncher to play in this league, and he won't be the last... Five years out of high school, most of us are FAR from finished products... I'm not dragging him out to the dumpster just yet.

Gee that's a great post. Love how you downplay beating up women. "Other people do it," ... "But he's young!" ... "It's the Browns fault for not looking into it!" ... "If it was such a big deal, the Browns would have cut him sooner!" ...

Any more excuses you'd like to throw out there for a scumbag beating on girls? Not many issues are black & white. This one is. I hope you can decide to be on the right side of it. There's no excuse for smacking women around, yet you keep making them. Any more garbage you'd like to share with the board before I hide your ass?

Is he a little bit of a shmuck? -Absolutely... Own worst enemy? -For sure... But let's be clear here, Manziel's biggest error was not living up to the ridiculous hopes of a team, and organization that hasn't won anything in for-fricking'-EVER!

No, Manziel's biggest errors were 1) Being violent with women. Not many "errors" bigger than that. Don't try and minimize the significance of domestic violence. It disgusts me, and shames you. 2) Lying and being a bad person. Let's face it, the guy is NOT a good person, and his teammates can't rely on him. That has nothing to do with living up to the hopes of a team. It isn't like he tried real hard but the team sucked so he couldn't do it. He didn't even try most of the time, and showed up to practice hungover.

He's an ass, and I can't stand people making excuses for such a waste of space. Anyone who advocates that he join the Bills should have their head examined.

    So Buffalo ... B-)

Please. Really? Are you serious? Is your crusade that foolish that you STILL feel you have a sliver of an argument for the guy? Should we sign Ryan Leaf as a backup?

  3. Ask them if they thought that was a good season. Clearly you guys are stuck in your mediocrity. I remember years the Bills went to the playoffs in a down year and people were mad because it was a failure. Yankees barely miss the playoffs and managers are fired. The point is to win it all. We go 8-8 again and Rex is on the hot seat

Still trying to reach those straws, eh? They're still out of reach apparently.

  4. I realize the irony of a 50/50 win percentage being deemed one or the other but this is football. If you don't make the playoffs at minimum then you are bad. Typically that takes double digit wins so 8-8 is bad

So the year the Cheatriots were 11-4 and missed the playoffs completely they were *bad*? Really? That makes total sense! Like, wow! Really proves your rock-solid point!

  5. Gilmore has an $11M cap hold right now. If they sign him to an extension they will actually lower that number to maybe something like $9M.

I expect it could be lower than that. Another 5 years, bonus amortized, and a low first year salary could definitely help.

So the "We'd better sign Gilmore now statements", um with what money?

What is difficult to understand we are enormously tight to the cap. We'll be lucky to resign Incognito, doubt we'll save Bradham, and others will have to go as well.

We can't "sign anyone now than listed above" It's pretty much that simple because we'll need at least 7-8 mil for the rookie contracts from the draft, and some emergency money when guys get hurt this year.

Gilmore's salary is 11 mil or so this year. If you give him a new contract, you can give him a bonus which will be amortized over the life of the contract, reducing the yearly hit. And if it is combined with a decent salary the first few years, he could definitely be in the $7 to $9 mil range per year.

  6. I'm upset that the talent he had is no longer with the Bills, but watching a guy stand around and make zero effort on plays was disgusting. Not sure how anyone who is pissed that he's been released thinks that this kind of effort is worth even 7 mil a year, let alone 20.

  7. Those "experts" took Kouandjo early in round 2 and said they had him as a 1st round player. You put too much faith in mere mortals that don't have much more knowledge than anyone else who studies the game. PFF had Miller ranked as one of the worst G in the NFL. I choose to believe them over personnel guys that have drafted 10 OL since 2010 and got all but 1 wrong

Do you know what is awesome? Your contradictions from post to post, or within the same post. PFF is fallible, too, homey, same as scouts. Guards can't be evaluated without taking a look at the situation and the players next to them, and pff is notorious for relying on numbers and nothing else, which anyone who can think critically knows limits the value of the evaluation . I'm sure they would have loved to have him sit and learn, but he was the best option.

Giving up on a rookie who played injured all year is idiotic. Period. But it is much lazier from a intellectual standpoint to think something should be blown up every year if it doesn't go well.

  8. Based on his play and development from week 1 to week 17 this season Who really Billieves in Tyrod Taylor enough NOT to take a QB in the 1st round and go Defense instead? As the future or as an interim to the next "Kelly" type franchise guy?

Apparently Jay Skurski of the Buffalo news throws him a vote of confidence.

    http://bills.buffalonews.com/2016/02/02/power-take-taylors-play-means-bills-do-not-need-to-pick-up-qb-early/

Fact: There isn't a franchise QB in every draft. Most everything I've read says that all QBs in the draft this year would benefit from sitting a few years. If that is the case, do you want to do that with a 1st round pick, or do you want to do that with a 3rd round pick?

  9. what you said.

Yep. I don't think anyone disagrees that the defense was bad last year, especially given the quality of players. Where I think people disagree is the solution. My personal opinion is that often a solution is more nuanced than the neanderthal "I hate it! Blow it up!" solution that so many posters here think is the only way. Preaching patience doesn't sell newspapers and it doesn't get page views. But it is often simpler jump to the "BLOW IT UP!" conclusion than an analysis of a better one.
