That damn Annenberg foundation. Founded by a former Reagan Ambassador for the sole purpose of doing charitable works to tie Democrats to the Weather Underground. Sneaky. -

The key to confirming Supreme Court Justices has been that they haven't had any history in abortion decisions. There is no end game for abortion politics - there just isn't. But the issue can certainly deliver a political base. Take Palin for example...if Roe v. Wade was overturned "It would be up to the people of Alaska to discuss and decide how we would like our society to reflect our values." So that would make her pro-referendum? Much better to be perceived as being against. Then you have Biden who curiously gets rotten scores from National Right to Life and NARAL because he opposes federal funding, yet opposes overturning Roe v. Wade. Better to be perceived as.....well just ask Biden....he'll tell you for the next 50 minutes. It's a stalemated issue. -
I'd take a bullet for John McCain because I love the man, but I'm telling you right now he's an unstable wacko and a good friend of mine.

"a come to Jesus" I thought that was pretty good. Some of us are just shy about our middle names. Makes people sound like killers. e.g.. Lee Harvey Oswald .....Ralph Bucky Phillips.... John William Gacy... X. Hollandaise Benedict.

IMO moving Burke to Apostolic Signature is an example of promoting out. The same happened with Cardinal Law...... Burke is now in charge of the marriage tribunal of last resort. Usually by the third appeal who cares anyway? Cardinal Law is basically in charge of a tourist site but his title is something like Prefect for the Basilllica of St. Maria Maior Reuters has a tradition of Catholic sensationalism. It is often kind of like saying Lord Smith of West Sexon of the Upper House of Lords has a scathing critique of Sarah Palin... you would almost think that the title gave the person more creditbility when in fact the guy is a bartender with an inherited title. -

Not sure, but here's how to spot it: look for the candidate in drought stricken areas supporting ballot initiatives allowing human sacrifice and ritualized prostitution. -

If the other team believed in Baal, I think that would make the Thanks for Victory talk a little more authentic. -

Why wait.? Elect McCain and pray for a stroke, that way we can get ...a little bit of reality from Wasilla Main Street there, brought to Washington, DC. to fight corrruption and continue great work, and do the kind of stuff that happens for 26 years in the Senate. It's going to be tough though, so maybe we'll be glad the Constitution will grant the President a little more authority, you know, to come together and work both sides of the aisle like a maverick, you know, when taxes ruin the ecomomy and hurt regular people with voting. That's bad for everyone then and America is better and hard working.

I'm still scratching my head over this one: Palin: No, no. Of course, we know what a vice president does. And that's not only to preside over the Senate and will take that position very seriously also. I'm thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president's policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are. John McCain and I have had good conversations about where I would lead with his agenda. That is energy independence in America and reform of government over all, and then working with families of children with special needs. That's near and dear to my heart also. In those arenas, John McCain has already tapped me and said, that's where I want you, I want you to lead. I said, I can't wait to get and there go to work with you. Did I miss an amendment or something? -

Fair enough.

The media is responsible for him winning the Democratic Nomination? I dunno. I'd ask Biden, Edwards, and Clinton.....it seems to me he found the financing and was good on the stump. That's all he's won other than a Senate seat over Ambassador Alan Keyes.

Many of you may find this interesting if you have the time. "America's Four Middle Classes" http://pewsocialtrends.org/pubs/707/four-middle-classes -
It is really true of both sides right now. The fight in the last month is for the middle, namely, the people still undecided but who still vote. The vote that is still out there to win tends not to be ideological and are generally people that have a limited understanding of how government works. Neither side is likely to get more specific at this point. Their bases are solidified by now. Bases like specifics. The middle likes impressions.

You could. But I don't think that is a broad sell with Americans generally. Plenty of people belong to Churches and may disagree with lots of stuff said on the pulpit. Most people who belong to religious communities differ all the time - from how the sacristy is decorated to what is said on Sunday. Especially with Independents I think exploring those connections has little suasion.

I think he says buy cheap. Is that in Revelations? I recorded the Charlie Rose interview last night. Looking forward to watching that. But there is too much baseball on.

I can't believe they were all in equities the year they planned to retire. ---------------- Now playing: Grateful Dead - Believe It or Not via FoxyTunes retire. -
The only worry about Joe is that when he opens his mouth it doesn't stop for days. I think he once went 9 straight minutes on Russert and I'm not even sure there was a question.

Is there a savings account out there that keeps up with inflation? Fiscal policy in America hasn't exactly encouraged savings as such. You can invest in stocks but hell if I know what a P to E means anymore..... I have funds myself, but I have heard about 5 people tell me this week that they are postponing retirement because all their money were in equities. I don't mean to be an ass parsing words but "savings" in terms of traditional deposits is a risk in itself if it isn't keeping up with inflation.
