  1. Liberty dies at the feet of this kind of Utilitarianism. Especially when the greater good = security. Constitutional protections and checks and balances are meant to limit our government, not empower it. But of course if you want to subordinate liberty to threats real or imagined, there are safer countries to live in.
  2. The US one? Not unless you think it is implied. common defence, maybe...
  3. Van Halen's "Live without a Net" It's a guilty pleasure.
  4. Why does the government have to listen when I call a terrorist coffee house to see if Sahmbudhi Jusfahted is there? It's like calling Moe's.
  5. You would think they could at least run a few Mighty Taco commercials.
  6. I have found that the Western Conference games broadcast from the US generally have bad camera work. It is like trying to watch the game through a McDonald's straw. The Games that FSN, MSG broadcasts Islanders, Devils, Sabres, Rangers are generally not too bad.
  7. Snake River. Damn I would love a team that could jump over Snake River. And Ice Cream.
  8. We couldn't decide, we thought that the shape of her face was very close to the number 0. Never ever give Musberger a human interest story to run with...Romance, Public Grief, Hard Luck stories, etc. He just murders em.
  9. You miss a 15yd pass for $500,000 and you get to marry a 2nd Looey. Some consolation prize. Kids did I ever tell you about the time your Pa took a knee at the Tostitoes Bowl.
  10. I would say that the operation for gender reassignment went swimmingly.
  11. Fire Wies. So the Bills can hire him.
  12. That was Bruschiesque
  13. That and he has something else in mind other than the current Mercador and Political projections.
  14. So do we let him live?
  15. My bet is that if the ND defense can force 2 turnovers or more, they will win.
  16. I always liked Paul McGuire, not because I thought he was a quality analyst, but because he seemed to prove that the guys I watch the games with and drink beer with can probably break down a game as well as the next guy. He never seemed better or worse than the guys next to me sitting at the Ralph.
  17. No. But, my brother is trying to argue that the body count in the little Holocaust is a little bit higher. 16th century pogroms in reformation Germany he estimates killed tens of thousands of Jews.
  18. My brother is currently doing a thesis on Martin Luther and the Jews. Martin Luther clearly advocated that any Rabbi that continues to teach should be put to death. For what its worth: http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/luther-jews.html
  19. I never met Alaska Darin, but my bet is any guy in the lineup with the Blue and Gold Hockey Jersey carrying a Luger with warm clothes would at least make me think of him.
  20. My take: I thought I would hate the shootout idea, and my initial inclination was that it would alter the game for the worse, but I have to admit, I can't fight my reason. If I see a shootout on tv, the Sabres or anyone else, I have to watch. There is something hierarchical about the whole affair that is compelling. The coach must choose who he thinks are his 3 offensive studs, and that can change from night to night. Also, it is a display of individual talent. I watch Vanek in the shootout and you have to nod your head and say, boy, we may really have something here. Anyway, I have to watch. Previously the strategy was always to play for a tie on the road. Now you can play for OT, get the point, and still play for the win. From a spectators point of view it is much better. Playoff hockey was always the exception because you could never play for the tie in the playoffs. Either way, I am hooked. If there is a shootout, I can't look away. Whatever the purist in me says, my eyes betray me. The shootout is hockey's softcore pornography and even though something in me says it's bad, I want to peek.
  21. Don't you dare. This is the best power play in years.
  22. I gotta hand it to Lindy, he has kept with the four lines and all of them have bought into it and are playing with enthusiasm. It has really been showing in the 3rd period- when I used to wonder how they would blow it, now I wonder how they are going to win it with hard work. They are relentless.
  23. I had a resume that said something like this: I am proficient in Word Processing, and Spreadsheets and am highly efficient manipulating data in Asses.
  24. too bad, you missed a great one.
