  1. Just like the 18th Amendment solved all drinking problems in 1920. How does this strain keep popping up in America every generation? If national prohibitions can't work, how are international prohibitions going to work?
  2. That is sad. I guess 6 yr. old heart patients are considerable flight risks.
  3. Granted. The Democrats best brains could not win an election. Now Mealsothinks, if you read it with the accent wrong like I did sounds like a German breakfast cereal with lots of fiber.
  4. Not sure. Nancy Grace. Now that is a woman. A screaming banshee demon possessed tort spewing demogogic B word. But not without her charms.
  5. Quiet down in here. CNN's on.
  6. For Hockey Prospects: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/
  7. High School? late 80's. When Metallica had their good stuff.
  8. Good question, Run the Damn Ball, sounds like a Jim Ringo era graduate.
  9. I see. Not my favorite medium to work with, but I know a guy at NHK in japan, kinda like chinese whispers, we'll see what the story is when it gets back stateside.
  10. That's good. Do you like the NHL.com site?
  11. somebody tell me what this thread is about so I can spread disinformation.
  12. It is a practical strategy. It is a good essay.
  13. Gotcha. That seems to make sense to me. I don't know much about India, but I think it is smart and timely to engage them.
  14. No problem: I believe it is best understood as a custom or tradition rather than a rule that has evolved during the centuries. That's why most of us feel free to joke about it, it just goes with the season. You won't find lenten directives in the bible, have a look at this if you are interested: Catholic Encyclopedia
  15. Tis true. He's behavin as the heathens and blaming his dear friend for his own ignorance, must've been dropped on his head as a snapper.
  16. I guess my point was that India has never signed the NPT. I haven't seen anything mentioned about bringing this up during the presidential visit, so the proposed cooperation with nuclear reactors wasn't framed in the context of India joining the NPT.
  17. Tebucky is a huge loser today. He can be had on the cheap now.
  18. Not much talk about the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty, is there?
  19. St. Patrick's day is a feast day. If you celebrate the feast you shouldn't have to fast, so usually the bishop keeps all the Irish in the fold by giving a dispensation.
  20. Taking the party back from the hemp farmers?
  21. I never said that. I said it wasn't a holy day. Geez, Kate is going to hate me now. It is still a day of abstinence. You're going to hell for eating that Monte Cristo, BTW.
  22. The Jesuits as well as the Franciscans tend to take social justice seriously, many of the Catholic Dioceses and more conservative congregations have allied themselves with the Ralph Reeds. (Sharing a narrower stance on abortion). Interestingly enough, from a just-war perspective (Catholic War Doctrine), while it was pretty clear that this war in Iraq didn't fit the standard of a just war, many theorists have recognized that leaving now would also be unjust. Fun times.
  23. I just thought they were just having a very bad go at a "let's see who can channel William Shatner" contest.
  24. When Rory Fitzpatrick leads the team in ice time, it means half your defense is shagged, Numinen and Lydman, or that Rory is tradebait.
  25. I read it. It is an interesting piece, but doesn't it seem a little self-serving in a perspective of hindsight? It seems to subtly say, listen up folks, my name was misappropriated. Fukuyama as a theorist seems to be so elastic that he is unilluminating. On the positive side, his reflections that the Bush doctrine was over- reaching seem accurate to me. Good article, Mickey.
