I remember the first tweet. I recalled the second as being more along the lines of "called the police." But honestly...while I'm never wrong, I find it more believable that I'm wrong than believing Trump wasn't that stupid. How sad is that?

Plus...they're not asking the FBI to do a further background check. They say that's what it is, but they're asking for a criminal investigation in to charges of rape and sexual assault. Having been through a few, on both sides of the table, and having had to answer for a criminal accusation in some of them, I know that you do not investigate criminal complaints in a background investigation. The investigators do an NCIC check, look for police reports and charges, compile them into an overall data package, and send them on for adjudication. They do NOT INVESTIGATE CHARGES THEY FIND, NOR DO THEY INITIATE NEW ONES, NOR DO THEY GO INTERVIEW WITNESSES AND VICTIMS TO ESTABLISH THE VERACITY OF THE CHARGES. That is NOT how things work. These accusations would actually be more effective if they were filed with the proper authorities, so they'd be properly investigated by the proper authorities AND properly recorded by the FBI for his background check. That they aren't doing so is very telling: they don't want the criminal justice system involved, because they know they can't come close to meeting a burden of proof, so they're trying the accusations - successfully - in the court of public opinion. Very Athenian...the boule leading the eccleasia in an ostracism. They should write their votes on pottery shards.

Is there any absolute reason at this point to think they're telling the truth? Because the only ones making absolute statements are the ones that think they're telling the truth.

Most of the thread is about principles of due process, presumption of innocence, and the unholy machinations of the Democrats in exploiting rape victims. My own view...I don't believe in belief. There's absolutely no evidence either way, so there's no basis for judgment.

Reports are that Avenatti has a source from "the State Department and US Mint" with "multiple security clearances" who at "grave risk to her life" that has evidence from multiple sources that Kavanaugh and Judge together not just participated in but organized multiple gang rapes throughout high school and college. Uh...yeah? Has been for four days now. Didn't see the news over the weekend? Hell, "rapist" is tame. I've seen "serial rapist" and "sexual predator" since Thursday - before any other accusations came forth.

If they really want to stand in solidarity, they'd accuse their gym teacher of molesting them.

It's a function of Manichaeistic political belief. If you cast politics as an ultimate struggle between good and evil, then nothing is prohibited. That - the political struggle between absolute good and absolute evil - is the basic dynamic of the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Khmer Rouge, the Holocaust... They're not good examples for baskin to be following. Trump's twitter idiocy is probably at a saturation point - everyone has an opinion, no one's changing it. But close. It is electoral politics. Democrats are hoping to control the Senate in November, and keep that seat vacant until 2021 for President Warren's nomination. Once this is resolved, however it's resolved, you'll never hear another thing about these women. Because no one cares about the accusations, just the politics.

But you'll oppose him by any means necessary. That is sociopathic behavior.
