I suspect that's not what Allen needs. His greatest need is probably a competent line and receivers - right now, running for his life, he has no chance to correct his bad habits and is developing new ones. He not only has no chance to develop, he's in a situation where he's likely as not regressing. Of all the criticism McDermott and Beane get, the one that they get lest but deserve most is the blinding idiocy of trading Taylor and McCarron, and deciding that Peterman and Allen alone were sufficient enough at the position. That was a !@#$ING stupid decision. In the handbook of "How to Develop a Quarterback," that's the chapter "Of All The Possible Things You Can Do, DO NOT EVER Make This Roster Move."

You could draft a QB next year to block for Allen, and it would probably be an improvement.

By the way, if anyone doubts this, check out Mathison's "highlight reel" on YouTube. Half a dozen passes, two hand-offs (which they explicitly cite as highlights of his being "an accomplished ball handler"), three scrambles, two interceptions by the Bills defense, and includes the line "But what makes Mathison special is his unpredictability" and cites his "recklessness" as a strength.

Bruce Mathison was eye-wateringly bad. Watching Peterman, you know on every play there's a good chance he's going to do something painfully stupid. But watching Mathison, you were never even sure there was a chance he'd do something competent.

The negative is that it ceased being relevant five weeks ago. I'm surprised you haven't yet changed it to "PetermanThrewALLThePicks."
