The people marching to the boarder ???
DC Tom replied to mead107's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
He's not entirely incorrect. Environmental change has historically triggered mass migration of populations. He's mostly incorrect, though, since historically it hasn't triggered organized groups marching with mass media coverage creating propaganda out of it. -

Most horrifying thing about that story is the name "Skydance MacMahon." "Son, now that you're old enough, let me explain how you're life's going to unfold: you are going to be horribly bullied through school, so much so that you'll be unable to form real emotional connections to adults, but only children under the age of 12. Eventually, this will get you arrested and you will die in jail an old man. All because we named you 'Skydance.'" -

Nope. One of the benefits of being a contractor is that it's almost always the govvies that get hauled in front of Congress, not us. I only know one contractor who has, of the hundreds I've worked with. Good thing I never was for the OPM hack, too. I had a waiver to use personal equipment, and had my PC locked down tighter than the government equipment (obviously - I wasn't hacked.) Had it locked down so tight that it ceased being accessible to me after I left the project. I couldn't produce the data if they asked - I still have the machine, and could hand it over to them, but only the NSA is decrypting it now. BREAKING NEWS: Trump has successfully corrupted the ODNI, DOJ, FBI, and DHS to hide Russia's election hacking.

Another Day, Another Corrupt Trump Act
DC Tom replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Let's conveniently forget that one of the developers in the running for the new FBI HQ was partnered with Trump and Kushner. And over-budget by $300M. And under-funded by $800M. Cancelled a project he'd benefit from directly, that would have benefited him more than originally anticipated. That is some whack-a-doodle definition of "corruption." -

And the White House can ignore the subpoenas, because "voter suppression!" More seriously, Holder, Lynch, Lerner, Clinton, and Obama ignored Congressional subpoenas for years, with no consequences. And the Republican House stupidly went to the courts for redress. So we have the precedent now that Congressional subpoenas can be ignored with impunity, and Congress is powerless to enforce them. So yeah...good luck with subpoenaing the Trump administration, knuckleheads. -

So are names. ALL social constructs much meet the appropriate standards. So from now on, the only people eligible for UN Ambassador are androgynous virgins named "Chris" who are genetically at least 1/1024 non-European -

Her slams against diBlahdiblah were less funny than they were vicious. Not that I'm complaining.

Once Congress let people get away with ignoring subpoenas in the Obama Administration, they set themselves up for this kind of problem. And with the precedents that have been set, the Dems’ hoped-for investigations if they take the House may fizzle. . To be fair, the Obama administration was following the Bush administration's precedent in that regard.

Because people with significant amounts of liquid assets always try to sneak across the border in buses. -

"Capability" is far more than technological superiority. US military capability is severely constrained by logistics, reliability, and maintenance issues far more than advanced technology. -
