The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
DC Tom replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
But here's the thing: journalists have always had a liberal bias, for the same reason public defenders do. They're idealists who believe they're doing a greater good by being the adversaries in an adversarial system. So "liberal bias" isn't really the problem. The problem is that reporters inject their bias into their job unnecessarily. Again, compare to public defenders, who don't discriminate against their clients based on political views - it's certainly possible to be disciplined and honest enough to divorce personal opinion from equitable judgement, people in many walks of life do it all the time. The media simply chooses not to do so anymore. -

All "strong quakes" are "well above the normal range." The relative frequency of quakes by magnitude goes by 10^(-M), where M is the magnitude. The fault off the Pacific Northwest is a subduction zone that can generate quakes in the 8.5+ range. 6.5's are unexpected, but not unusual given the frequency distribution and nature of the fault line. -

You know...I'm actually going to go the other way on this. The left sees this as a valid and successful tactic that they'll continue pursuing until it ceases to be so. And the only way that's going to happen is if they experience the other side of it. If Maxine Waters commands her acolytes to not give Republicans a moment's peace, she should learn first-hand how counter-productive an idea that really is. The elected left believes, and was elected by people who believe, that Republicans are universally evil and wrong. There is no way in hell they take notice of this, or follow the right's lead. In fact, this'll be portrayed as "The Right's publicly disavowing this behavior while privately supporting it. That's how the Nazis normalized their behavior!"

They started establishing this "The White House is complicit" narrative during the Kavanaugh hearings. The State Department's been on the Saudis from the start to explain themselves, but the media didn't pick up on it until a week later, with "Why isn't the President doing anything?" stories that basically came down to "Trump hasn't done anything, because we haven't reported it, which proves he doesn't care!" The news media in the US is worse than useless at this point.

Trump Wants To Regulate Google
DC Tom replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I was trying to look for stories on Holder ignoring a Congressional subpoena earlier, and Google wouldn't return a single story on it. I had to use DuckDuckGo to find anything. It's really gotten shockingly bad. -

Same happy horseshit the Clintons pushed, that gave us 9/11. People in the world don't want the US to make amends for past US crimes. They want to DESTROY us for them. Of all people, American leftists should understand that, since the entirety of their domestic policy is founded on destroying people for past crimes. -

I remember when political cartoons were funny, and not just nonsensically hateful. And it was before Benson's time. He's a particularly odious little goblin.
