The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
DC Tom replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The basic thesis is "the ends does not justify the means." Which I've been saying here for...how long now? -
Oh, good. It's always a hoot when he makes announcements away from the Oval Office when he can't consult the Magic 8 Ball.
-
That alone would make the declaration valuable, for putting a concrete limit on the President's powers to declare such. But it would never get to the Supreme Court. It would take years to wind through the plethora of lawsuits brought in lower court on such issues as posse comitatus, eminent domain, questions of state sovereignty, questions of Congressional authority...hell, there'll likely even be suits under the NPSA and BLM laws. By the time all the lawsuits are resolved, everyone involved will have died of old age.
-
That is exactly what I said, you ***** nitwit.
-
It's the "Deep State," you ***** nitwit. Not the fever-dream Illuminati world-wide "Deep State," but the federal civil service bureaucracy "Deep State" that fights like hell to protect and propagate itself. Bureaucratic inertia is a real thing, and elected officials have very limited ability to work against it.
-
I truly can't, because you're referencing a completely different situation while crediting me with an opinion I never held.
-
"The Military-Intelligence Community." Are you being purposely dense?
-
What's your point?
-
Really...not retiring at this point is an abrogation of her responsibility as a Justice in preference for party loyalty.

Occasi-Cortez Channeling the Rent's too damn high guy
DC Tom replied to bdutton's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No, I cannot. I'm merely pointing out that "it worked in the '50s!" is a stupid oversimplification of a different situation. -

Romney's 47% comment was also about that number of people already falling under the aegis of existing government programs, hence not people needing to be targeted by new ones. It wasn't a blanket dismissal of half the country as untermenschen. -
Global warming err Climate change HOAX
DC Tom replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
We're already not hearing the end of it. And with your very first post here, you simultaneously declare your superiority to everyone, AND your incapacity to hold a discussion with anyone. And declare everyone else the problem, in a thread you haven't read. -
WR Duke Williams of CFL’s Eskimos Signs with Bills
DC Tom replied to LEBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fun fact: the last time the Bills didn't have a "Williams" on the roster was 1996. -

Well, that's a relief. Filled that critical "Williams" deficit left by Kyle's retirement... -

And if "Noah Berlatsky" isn't just the whitest ***** name I've ever seen... -
What was your favorite Bills game or moment last year?
DC Tom replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vontae Davis retiring during a game. I mean...what the *****? I still laugh thinking about it. -
What is better, no guns, or more guns?
DC Tom replied to Security's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Been like that for a while...you have to press the muzzle of the nail gun against a board to trigger it. Never stopped us from drilling a hole in a 2x4, then shooting framing nails through the hole. They'd fly a good 30 feet. And the "Lethal Weapon" scene, that was from Lethal Weapon 2, and he did put the nail gun directly against the guy's chest. -

Sure...90% tax rates worked fine when the US had no international manufacturing competition and generated half the post-war world's GDP while supporting other major economies via the Marshall Plan. I'm sure it'll work just fine now when we're 15% of the world GDP while running annual half-trillion dollar trade deficits. How the ***** did Krugman ever win a Nobel Prize? -
Okay. Your comment is stupid and ignorant.

NFL fines Jordan Mills more than Kiko and Quinn
DC Tom replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget: same office that grants a two game suspension for beating a woman, but tacks on 14 more if you're caught on video doing it. -

Apparently, yes. He was fined more for not hitting Ryan Fitzpatrick last season.
