  1. Illustrating one of the main issues facing the country: far too many people are okay with it when it's their party. Anyone who dreads Trump's use of a National Emergency declaration should likewise be against DACA, on the same procedural grounds, else they're a raging hypocrite. The cops weren't children. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!
  2. No, no, no, no, no. Not "If it saves just one life." "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"
  3. Not if it's a magic wall.
  4. I'll hold your beer for you...
  5. He is pretty sharp on the oversight committee, actually.
  6. Bad timing. It's past roadkill season... But hey...every West Virginian who starves to death is one less Trump supporter voting in 2020, right? We'll even call it "Dekulakization, y'all!"
  7. I have never looked forward to a collective meltdown as much as I'm looking forward to this one.
  8. Sadly, he failed as a Polish mine detector.
  9. Pretty sure it's #2, given they were shipped on August 3rd, which was a
  10. I have plenty of tools. For wood, metal, masonry work. Many of us do. Far fewer of us have experience breaching field fortifications. @The_Dude will claim so, but the closest he's got to combat engineering is playing "Polish mine detector," no doubt.
  11. No, the pressure will be on the right. DC metro area is a Democratic stronghold; Republicans are the source of all evil.
  12. And the Marine Corps combat engineers to do it. I looked up some of the currently active "National Emergencies." Most of them for the past ten years are things like "sanctions against human rights abusers in Burundi" or some such. The left is disingenuously complaining about this not reaching the seriousness of a "National Emergency," which is a standard they set artificially, ridiculously low.
  13. No. That's a pain point for a lot of people...but not anyone that anybody in DC really cares about. I mean, how much have you heard about garbage in Yosemite, compared to food stamp recipients? "Welfare recipients" is an abstraction, so "starving welfare recipients" isn't real pain. "Starving federal workers," on the other hand...those are real. They exist within the DC bubble.
  14. Which is also why Trump's Wall is a load of *****: the cost is being low-balled by addressing just the physical construction ("Build a wall!") and not the more significant cost of patrolling and maintenance. It's not a $5B wall...it's a $50B wall.
  15. You're delusional. The Democrats have been constantly defining their "base" as the coastal urban population, and progressively alienating almost everyone between the East and West coasts. They're not getting any "middle" back if they keep dismissing most of the country as being "flyover country."
  16. Next two weeks should tell. When government workers start missing pay checks (to be honest, no one in DC gives a ***** about SNAP recipients) the pressure on everyone in DC is going to ratchet up considerably.
  17. Conversely, if Trump caves, the House Democrats know they can make insane demands and he'll cave again. THAT'S THE ISSUE. Not a wall. A power struggle between two equally entrenched and inflexible positions, that doesn't end until one breaks the other - and these are all stupid, stubborn, unimaginative people who don't break easily. It's why I said earlier that to end this quickly you pretty much have to shoot all parties involved.
  18. It won't happen because if Trump senses it's starting to happen he'll immediately declare a national emergency to avoid any diminution of his ego by Congress.
  19. It either ends with that, or with enough Republicans coming over to the Democrats to override a veto.
  20. What happened? Did her clone fail?
  21. I strongly dispute Pelosi is being held hostage by anyone. She has a long history of this nonsense - if anything, she's holding everyone else hostage.
  22. So fund it...and then the money never gets spent, and the wall never built, because it's tied up in lawsuits until the end of time. It's a fight over a $5B appropriation that will never be spent. Which means it's not actually a fight over the appropriation... Land owners have to do their "fair share."
  23. Ecological disruption. Some rare desert toad's migration patterns get disrupted or something, and interferes with their sweet, sweet desert toad nookie. But again: it's not about a wall. It's about Trump's and Pelosi's pathological need to have everything their way.
  24. Winston's off-field issues naturally raise questions about him. Mariota? He's going to have his fifth OC in five years? They're in coaching purgatory, not QB purgatory.
