That is a very, very serious escalation. And probably a counter-productive one - the IRGC is more than robust enough to recover from the assassination of their head. This is a symbolic gesture that leaves them intact, operationally undegraded, and angry.

I've got two cats with cancer that we're likely to lose this year. Probably one by March, and the other in July. And I doubt either of my sisters-in-law makes it through the year. 2020's really shaping up to be truly lousy. Not even a likely source of gallows humor, like my cousin who launched himself through the roof of his house on a water heater back in 2018...

Good job taking my lame joke and making it infinitely stupider.

When you buy Jack one, pick one up for me too.

If evangelicals supported Trump, he wouldn't have had to pick Pence as a running mate. Democrats simply can't accept that Republicans don't necessarily vote for saviors...because that's what Democrats do. The Democratic Party is a cult.

Did anyone ever claim that acid rain was going to kill us all in a decade? Did a sixteen year old ever throw a public tantrum claiming DDT stole her childhood? Do you understand the difference between facts and histrionics? -
December 18th, 1989. Bengals vs. Oilers, 21 seconds left in the game. Bengals line up and kick a last-second field goal, winning the game by a score of 61-7. This is after, in the third quarter, having scored a TD to take a lead of 45-0, on the ensuing kickoff the Bengals recover the onside kick. When asked why he ran up the score, Sam Wyche replied "I just don't like Jerry Glanville." EDIT: Onside kick. Preceded by the wonderfully pithy observation "You can't look much worse than this." The final field goal. After which, the play-by-play announcer says "This would be the perfect time for an onside kick." Which is followed by...the Bengals kicking an onside kick. RIP, you magnificent bastard.

Carnegie Hall, you dumbass.

No. You should have discerned that the two of you were living on different timelines moving at different speeds, then called him "relativistically stupid."

You're still in a time continuum. We all are.

Several people blocked me on Twitter for suggesting that maybe they should stop making that argument because it wasn't helping them. -

How does anyone see this as anything other than pandering, patronizing, and insulting? -
God dam...I was planning on moving to Ireland soon! Now that ***** harpy has to ruin that for me too? Can't she just go to Papua New Guinea or the Falklands or somewhere no one wants to go, and stop spoiling everywhere for everyone else?

What? Is your New Years' resolution to be even more ######ed?

The full idiom, btw, is "Go pound sand up your ass." Which I like much better...

No, to pick the candidate they preferred. That's not the same as "better." There's very little evidence that voters make "better" choices - in fact, there's substantial evidence that democracies make worse choices, which is why the founding fathers wrote a Constitution that fundamentally constrains everyone's power, including the electorate's. ... <breath>

Pick a movie. Keep one actor.

Brokeback Mountain. Keep Jake Gyllenhaal.
